“Excellent service”
Reviewed 27 September 2011

Stayed here for a week as part of a package with 'Newmarket holidays'.Excellent location, five mins to the beach, bars, shops, etc. We had four tours included (Bosnia,Montenegro,Dubrovnik and the Elaphite Islands ) but you can book all these within the hotel with hotel pick-up and also just a minute away there are stalls selling the same tours. We also booked the Korcula island trip with a stop at Ston and wine/cherry brandy tasting, brilliant tour to a beautiful island ,would recommend this. The rooms in the hotel are small and I would definately recommend booking one with a sea view and balcony. They are spotlessly clean ,being cleaned every day.A nice pool on the first floor, some rooms on this floor would have direct access to this from their room. The food (buffet) is excellent,we were booked in for half board, there were at least five meat/fish dishes nightly plus at least three vegetarian options plus plentiful supply of veg and salad, soup and deserts. The menu changed nightly so always something new to try with many local specialities.Breakfast was plentiful with a good choice. You can eat inside or outside on the lovely terrace. The service of the staff was fantastic, nothing was too much trouble and they need to be commended on this.Buses to Dubrovnik stop outside the hotel, approx 15-20 mins journey into the old city, return tickets £2.50 and can be purchased in hotel or on bus. There are beautiful walks both sides of Lapad bay, very scenic. The main harbour is a 15 minute walk and has open air market. This is the main harbour for Dubrovnik so plenty of cruise ships arriving, check before you go to Dubrovnik if there are any in as the town gets packed the days they dock or go there after about 2.30pm WHEN THE SHIP VISITORS HAVE LEFT ! The cable car journey above Dubrovnik is spectacular ,would have loved to have had time to do this at night as well as late afternoon as runs until 10pm. Def.plan time to visit Mostar in Bosnia, Kotor and Budva in Montenegro, both trips about two hours from Lapad but so worth the experience.Lapad is a suitable destination for ALL age groups and the Croatian people are just lovely,so accommodating. We shall return one day !!

Room Tip: Choose room with balcony or direct access to Pool, rooms at back of hotel darker.

We stayed one night. Rooms are basic, but clean, with air conditioned and tv. There is also a small swimming pool. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They helped us to recover our camera from a taxi in a very efficient way. Also, there is a bus stop (line 4) very near to access downtown in minutes. For low bugets, is very reccommendable.

Hotel Komodor is one of the oldest hotels in Lapad Area. It is only 50 meters from the Lapad Beach. The hotel grounds might be a bit old fashioned but it's quite comfortable and cozy. The building itself is back from the late 50's or early 60's and the facade represents the era's taste. The beds need to be changed, they are a bit too aged but the rooms are spacious and full of light. I reccomend you to book sea view rooms unless you are on the 3rd floor. because of the hills slope which the hotel was built the 'park view' rooms look straight to a stone wall.. The food at the hotel was nice. There weren't many choices in the open buffet but the things they served was all delicious. The staff was very helpful and good professionals. We got sick one night and they strived to help us, unforgetable.

We stayed there for a short week with my girlfriend and it is to be said that the staff was really friendly and helpful. Maybe not the most "waouh" hotel in the area but good value for money and very convenient being located 80m away from the beach and 100m away from the bus stop (bus 4) going to the old town.

Great staff, great breakfast -BEAUTIFUL breakfast area (outdoors under a shady vine in the fresh air), and LOVED the fact that it had a swimming pool (which was never too busy, even though it wasn't very big). Only criticism was that the hotel bedrooms and bathrooms were tiny (barely any room to open a suitcase), and on arriving, the toilet seat had some yellow blobs on it and I had to clean it myself with some soap and a rag. I would go back though :-)

we booked this from the internet costing nearly 2000 euro for two weeks, when we arrived it was not the photos of the internet we ordered a balconey and we were shown into what could be only discribed as a prison cell it was like a bedsit,we told the staff we were not happy they were so kind and helpful they even let us use their internet to find another hotel, which we did the argosy hotel which was the same price but it was heaven compared to the Komador. the hotel is good if you dont want any comfort and you are out all day but i could not stay 10 mins in that bedroom but i have to say the staff were so helpful even though we were only there for half an hour,i think because of the good staff thats how they have good reviews, its not for the bedrooms!
