We have just got back from a wonderful two week stay at the Hotel Lapad, and would first like to thank all the staff who made our stay there fantastic.
The room was modern and well laid out,the meals both breakfast and evening meals were loverly and well presented, the hotel itself was stunning to look at and well decorated and maintained.
As you leave the Hotel the view over the bay is something you will never forget, the location is very good as you can get to the old town easily by foot about 35 minutes or the bus were the stop is just outside, but if more than three are going its best to get a taxi.
The hotel have listen to people and have opened up the gardens for people to sun bathe so well done to the hotel, and in our two weeks stay we never had any problems getting a sunbed.
When you leave the Hotel right or left there are a couple of local bars and resturants to vist, which are good, a trip or several to the old town is a must, as this is our third time in this area of Croatia and still find the old town experiance fantastic, and agian the are local Bars just off the main streets that are full of the local people and will always make you feel welcome.
Finally we were Married in the hotel and a special thanks goes to Kristina who has helped arranged the wedding over the last twelve months and all the other staff who made us feel that little bit special during the wedding and after, and it went very smoothly and was a truely wonderful experience.
If any of you out there are thinking of getting Married, have a look at this area Dubrovnik, as after the marrage we had our photos taken in the old town, and we were treated like film stars as every one was clapping, taking photos of us and congradulating us, a truly surreal but pleasant experience.
The hotel set up the upstairs archway for the service, which was read out in Croatian and translated to English, the table for the meal and put petals and a red rose in our bedroom at no cost, and we had the meal of the al a carte menu which was loverly, its a hotel that doesn,t think wedding and tries to rip you off.
The Hotel, Dubrovnik and Croatia are fantactic places to vist, and the people are wonderful, and we will be back.

thanks

alan and louise

We were really excited about this hotel. We made a mistake with the booking and were meant to stay here for two night but ended up staying only one. The night before we were forced to stay at the Dubrovnik Palace and we were sad that we had to leave there.
The Lapad were really good to us -they knew it was our honeymoon and upgraded us to a suite and had left a fruit platter in our room for us. Thanks for that.
It missed having a balcony though and as the pool is really crowded we missed not having that option. It's also more of a walk to get the bus to the old town than it is from the Palace, although the bus coming BACK does drop off right outside the Lapad.
I hate to moan after they upgraded us and that, we just loved the Palace.
The pool has a rule about leaving sunbeds with towels on them unattended for longer than an hour which we really appreciated. More places should do that.

This recently renovated has a lot going for it. We had a superior room with modern facilities, comfortable bed and great view of the harbour and mountains. The food was OK and service excellent but the dinners were particularly boring and unadventurous. We were on half board and wanted to eat there every night but that would have been soul destroying. Wine, even local, was unnecessarily expensive as was the bar. All set meals had to be eaten canteen style with no opportunity to eat alfresco. The food advertised by the hotel is the al a carte which is expensive and totally different to the ordinary fare. The swimming pool area is too small and with too much shade. There are no facilities for showering after spending a day sunbathing on the last day. The main town of Dubrovnik is really too far away; buses take a long time and are full. Taxis are at London prices but do only take about 15 minutes.

Room Tip: You must get a superior room in the old area; the modern ones at the back are a long way away and af...

Dear bobbayley,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are disappointed to learn that your visit was not up to standard. We are sorry the dinner in the restaurant let you down and that we haven't completely met your expectations regarding the pool area.
All feedback is most appreciated and used in a constructive manner, it helps us to improve our service levels where required.
On the other hand we are pleased to read you had a nice, comfortable room with a nice view and you found our service excellent.
I certainly hope that you would consider returning in the future so that we can provide you a very good stay.

Kind regards,

Stayed a couple of days in this hotel in July with my family. Nice rooms, nice swimming pool. Unfortunately no beach close by (while in Lapad you have several alternatives in that matter), while the swimming pool and seats blocked early in the morning, so less obvious for a family with kids. Breakfast of good quality, unfortunately no wi-fi in the rooms. Conclusion: OK for a couple, less attractive with kids.

Room size was abit small yet it has everything. Clean, and new. Refreshing design with a tiny balcony. But value is good for its partial city and sea view. Service is good and the staff speak English well. Would stay here again if we come.

3 different lifts to our room though. Abit of downside. But **** :)

From the pictures and descriptions you'd imagine a fine Hotel, newly redone with all amenities.
However you'd be wrong to be taken in so easily. This hotel treats guests like they are furniture.

The location is terrible, & the hotel is no where near Dubrovnik's Old Town. The renovation was done with a skimpy hand, air conditioning is a joke, and their food was mediocre.

The Front Desk Manager was snide and unhelpful, with a technical excuse for every problem -- technically it was the guests' problem and not his to help solve!

Lot's of snippy and rude comments about whiny & needy Americans thrown in just to add insult to injury...
We left after two days of a five day booking. They were at least fair about not hassling us for the cancellation of the three days left unused.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere than this hotel!

Dear psaincorp,

I am extremely sorry to hear that your stay at the Hotel Lapad was not satisfactory as you expected.
It is disappointing to read you consider us a fake 1st star hotel, that our service and food quality was not up to our usual high standard and that your overall impression was affected by the inconvenience you experienced regarding the air conditioning.

I must disagree with your observation that Hotel Lapad treats guests like they are furniture.
We aim to deliver exceptional levels of customer service. Our clients are very important to us, we appreciate their opinion in order to improve our service and provide them enjoyable and comfortable stay. Our greatest reward is the minimum number of remarks and many satisfied guests.

However, please accept my personal apologize for all the inconveniences occurred, hoping, in the next future to have another chance to give you a different impression staying again at the Hotel Lapad.

With my best regards,

Katica

Stayed for 9 nights until Sept 5 th. Stayed in a Double room in the old hotel.
Spacious, modern with a really comfy bed and a wardrobe with plenty of room to hang two suitcases of clothes!! Breathtaking view of the harbour and pool from the window!!
The bathroom was good but the shower was a bit tricky to fathom out and the glass door isn't needed.
The breakfasts were excellent; fresh fruit, salad, breads, hams and cheeses from Croatia and good old eggs, bacon, beans, sausages for the less adventerous. 6 kinds if cereals and 4 kinds of yoghurt too!! We never had dinner there but went to look and it looked good. We ate out in nearby restaurants, in the old town and in cavtat.
The local food is divine and various if you go to mid priced places. We ate in a cheaper pasta/ pizza place and the food was awful; bland, doughy pizza and over boiled noodles.
The staff were very friendly, especially the younger staff on reception and in the dining room. The reception staff told me I could buy bus tickets at the hotel and that the bus stop to the old city was a 5 minute walk and stopped outside on the way back.
The pool was cleaned daily and there were enough sun loungers around the pool and more in the garden area behind the pool. To get the best location around the pool I got up at 8 am and reserved by towels!!
Overall the hotel Lapad was a 5 star place at a 4 star price!! Would definitely staty there again!!
