Lovely hotel and good location. We found all the staff extremelyfriendly and helpful throughout the hotel and the food excellent quality and value.
Rooms do vary considerably. The new rooms in the annex are on the small side but well appointed and comfortable. The older rooms are larger with character so recommend that you check what you are getting for your booking. Probably best to speak to the hotel direct to check. The taxi fare into Dubrovnik Gate is only Kuna 8.00 but there is a bus service outside the hotel which is great for bringing you home but a longer trip going unless you walk to another bus stop to cut out the trip around the peninsula. (This is because of the one way system around the harbour)

Hotel Lapad is a great choice for Dubrovnik. It is a combination of an older building that has been totally refurbished with an new addition where the rooms are located. It is on the water in the harbor of the newer part of the city (new being a relative term) about a 10 minute cab ride to the old, walled city. We did not eat dinner or lunch at the hotel but breakfasts were good quality and plentiful. The bar area and pool are pleasant.

Dear Ryegate,

It's wonderful to read you consider Hotel Lapad was a great choice for your stay in Dubrovnik and you liked our traditional front building by the sea with the new addition where the majority of the rooms are located.
We hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future.

Kind regards,

Just returned from 3 nights at this hotel on B&B basis travelling with my husband. I would highly recommend this hotel for a short break to Dubrovnik because it is easy to reach the old town by bus or even walking and also easy to take boat trips to other islands. A very clean hotel, good first impressions (the hotel arranged our private airport transfers at 550 kuna), we didn't use the pool but it's very clean and quiet - not suitable for children in my opinion because generally the whole hotel is more suited to adults and peace and quiet. There are not really any grounds, just a small garden area and a fountain at the front of the hotel but it's situated right on the Gruz Harbour waterfront with superb outlook to the arriving cruiseliners and small island hopping boats.
The check it process was quick and efficient, the 2 lifts are sparkling and speedy, the bar area has both an inside area and outside terrace with friendly waiter service (there were 3 singers one evening), there is a guest services desk in reception to arrange trips etc, the dining room serves breakfast from 7-10 am and there are plenty of tables and a good selection of both hot and cold buffet. There are plenty of waiting staff. We stayed in a superior room in the old building on the third floor overlooking the harbour with 2 large shuttered windows to throw open to the beautiful views, no balcony. A good sized clean room with large bed and flatscreen tv plus tea/coffee making tray and minibar, hairdryer, trouser press, robes/slippers, digital safe and plenty of storage. The towels were smallish and could have been more plentiful for 2 people. The bedside reading lighting was not brilliant - nothing at all on one side. The drinks prices are very reasonable in the hotel and we had an evening snack meal on the outside terrace one evening - very nice and good value. There is a lovely harbourside restaurant called Orsan a short walk to the left of the hotel and another basic but homely pizza restaurant a short walk to the right of the hotel. Orsan was very pleasant to sit after a long day sightseeing and have a few cold beers watching the little boats come and go. We took a boat trip to Cavtat from the old town harbour, it took approx. 45 mins and cost about £7 each. There are a few restaurants and bars around a pretty harbour but not much else! We went up the cable car from the old town and there are spectacular views up there! It cost about £9 each and there is a lovely restaurant at the top. We didn't do an organised tour of the old town but we walked the walls (costs about £6) and wandered around aimlessly and slowly for a couple of days - it was lovely. There are an abundance of restaurants and bars within the walls and we had a lovely evening meal in Ragusa 2 - highly recommend.
The bus to the old town is right outside the hotel, number 6, and you get tickets from the reception or little newstands dotted around everywhere. Don't bother too much to queue politely to get onto the bus in the old town - the locals just push straight to the front! Don't worry though because they pack you on like sardines! A taxi from the hotel costs about £6 each way. Overall this was a lovely short city break staying at a very clean oasis of a hotel.

Room Tip: 3rd floor superior room overlooking the Gruz harbour - we were number 37

Stayed here as part of a tour group at the start of August 2012. As I had injured myself before arriving I was "house bound" for a whole day in the hotel. The staff were lovely getting me ice and the room service was prompt. The room I had had a great view over the pool, one of the best rooms as the others in my tour didn't really get any views at all. The buffet breakfast and dinners were wonderful, no complaints there. Bus stop at the front of the hotel which will take you into town about 12-15 kuna. The only complaint I did have as with many of the hotels in Europe is that you cant plug your own DVD player or media box into the room tv's as they all tend to block the option.

Dear yeahholidays,

We are so pleased to read about your enjoyable stay, the lovely staff, prompt room service, wonderful breakfast and dinner and the great room with the view over the pool.
We are sorry you couldn't plug your own DVD player into the room TV like in the many hotels in Europe, but you can always choose one of the films from our pay TV offer.
It's nice to read you enjoyed your stay and we would be happy to welcome you back again.

Firstly the good things;- the bedrooms and bathrooms are well fitted out, the staff are efficient and friendly, very helpful. It is not a hotel catering for children so was nice and quiet by pool and in garden.
It was good value.
It was spotlessly clean.
The not so good - standard rooms are small, not much room at base of bed between furniture and small hanging wardrobe space.
Breakfast and dinner are served as a buffet and food is not warm enough.
Dining room lacks character and only one side of the building has a view - of the pool.
There are only a few tables for two at the edge of the restaurant others are grouped in fours.
The swimming pool is very cold and the towels very small.
It is the other side of the hill from Lapad main resort but is quiet.

Overall we liked the hotel, we reluctantly went with a package tour operator as we booked only a couple of weeks before departure and the hotel own site said they had no availability - they do seem to cater mostly for package holiday makers (as do most hotels in the area) hence the buffet dinner which we don't care for. We were however once there, able to upgrade to a suite from the standard room with balcony. Neither had much of a view but that didn't worry us, unless you like staring at cruise ships that look more like apartment blocks I wouldn't bother about a room with a view. The suite (205) was very comfortable having a sitting room in addition to the bedroom, a spacious bathroom two wardrobes (take extra clothes hangers if you want to hang several things) and an extra WC and washbasin.
It also had a terrace with two chairs (balconies are only big enough for one chair). The only thing we missed was tea making facilities for early morning. It had a view of a small garden area and you could see the sea between buildings. It was a quiet and convenient location not too far from reception.
A lot has been said about the lifts and stairs, we never went right to the back of the hotel so can only comment on what we found. From reception you can either take the lift to the 1st floor or walk up the wide elegant staircase. Once there you walk on a short light and airy corridor which links the buildings and then take a lift to where you want to be (or in our case we used the stairs as we only had one floor to go).The lifts are modern and efficient and we never had a problem.
There is a terraced garden area through an arch from the pool where there are also loungers and give more shade if you need it (it was too hot some of the time we were there in early October). I think meals are also served here in the summer months (a la carte). There was no a la carte option when we were there apart from the bar terrace by the pool which was very good for lunchtime food. Having tried the buffet the first two nights we then went out to local restaurants. Orcan at the yacht club just a short distance from the hotel was lovely (turn left out of the hotel follow the road keeping to the right and it is through a door in the wall on the right.) Tables are arranged right by the water with boats moored, candles on the table and excellent fish dishes. We also tried the pizza restaurant next door to the hotel who serve a lot more than pizza on the roof terrace and is good value. Lapad itself - (left out of hotel left again up the hill cross at roundabout and down the pedestrianised walk) has lots of restaurants and hotels we didn't find anything special there though.
We understand the hotel plans to build an indoor pool, conference facilities etc on adjacent land so that they can stay open through the winter months.
I would go again but only on a b & b basis in a larger room/suite, and independantly.

Room Tip: Go for space rather than view if you want to be comfortable and have enough storage unless you plan...

Just got back from a 4 night break at the Hotel Lapad Dubrovnik. We were a family of 4 and everything about the Lapad was superb.
Bedrooms are spacious and clean and our rooms had a side view of the harbour. The bathroom was modern and the shower/bath seemed like new.
The balcony was a bit small but OK.
Dinner and breakfast at the restaurant was fine, and the waiters friendly and eager to please. We like the fact that not everyone speaks English, but they do try their hardest.
The setting is brilliant and you can watch the cruise ships as you lounge by the pool.
We didn't have a problem with sun loungers, as mentioned in previous reports, and the enclosed garden next to the pool is lovely and quiet with plenty of sunbeds.
The hotel is just the right size. When you go down to breakfast for instance, it didn't seem as manic as it can be in larger hotels, just nice and relaxed.
Overall we cannot wait to return to Croatia. The coast is stunning, the people friendly, and the weather just right.
Also we found that the price of eating and drinking out are very reasonable.

My wife and I had a really enjoyable stay. Breakfast really good with all you can eat of a whole variety of food and drinks. We had a superior room with excellent views of the harbour and I think this was important. The room was not large but very well appointed with lovely bathroom, safe, TV, tea and coffee. The picture on the TV not great but this only bothered me during the Liverpool v Udenesi footy match - you don't go on holiday to watch TV.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The location could not be much better - right by a beautiful harbour and within a 10 minute bus ride to the old city plus a 20 minute walk to a beach on the other side of Lapad. Buy the 7 day Dubrovnik pass- available at the hotel - worth it for the free bus travel alone.

Room Tip: We had a room on the top floor (3rd) of the old building overlooking the pool and harbour. The view...
