“Lovely property, well located, great service”
Reviewed 13 October 2012

Hotel Lapad is conveniently located on the Lapad peninsula near on the marina (great for watching people and ships), just a short bus trip from the Stari Grad (Old City). Staff was warm and welcoming, very helpful with directions and suggestions. Spotless room, comfortable bed, all the amenities, with a lovely pool. We ate at the restaurant our first night, but the food was unremarkable, as was the breakfast buffet. (Had a great Croatian wine, though.) There was a quaint and delicious little restaurant next door, billed as a pizzeria but with an extensive menu (and outdoor second story seating) with lovely residential neighborhoods and lots of little restaurants and bars within walking distance. Also convenient was the parking lot adjacent to the hotel (8 Euros per day, but worth it).

Room Tip: We had a "garden view" room, but the view was nothing special. Depending on your circumst...

Stayed with friends for 2 nights in early October. Enjoyed everything about our visit! The hotel is in a great location, close enough to the Old Town but in an area attractive in itself with lots of restaurants and amennities. Staff were helpful and courteous. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean. Standard rooms were of a modest sized but with high quality furnishings - bathroom is really trendy. Breakfast was included in our rate and was superb and the bar next to the pool serves great value drinks and snacks.

Dubrovnik is lovely. We will return and will definitely stay at the Lapad.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights following our tour of Croatia. This is a large hotel built on the side of a hill overlooking the harbour and, depending on what room you get depends on how many passageways and lifts you have to take to get there. Our room was towards the back on floor 7 which meant that we had to get 3 lifts and walk along one long passageway. That said, we had a very nice room with a view of the water from our balcony. We found the staff very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the breakfasts. Free WiFi was available in our room.

We ate there one night but it was a buffet and we weren't impressed. Our favourite restaurant was the Restaurant Mozart just down the road a bit and run by a young couple who could speak English.

The pool area is very popular and every time we went past all the lounges were occupied.

The bus to the old town passes the door and, if there's 4 of you, the taxis are about the same price as the bus.

The morning we left, we had to catch an early flight, so the hotel offered to provide us with a take away breakfast which we appreciated. We enjoyed the juice and yoghurt but salami sandwiches on dry bread early in the mornig were a bit of a challenge.

We loved Dubrovnik and felt very comfortable in this hotel and the surrounding area. We would love to stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the water

I was quite pleasantly surprised. Solid all around. Super nice and sincere staff. Incredible bang for the buck. Nicel appointed and clean. Only things that could be improved are quality of food but everything else is perfect. I moved from 5 star Hilton in Dubrovnik. This was much better in almost every way.

Lovely hotel and good location. We found all the staff extremelyfriendly and helpful throughout the hotel and the food excellent quality and value.
Rooms do vary considerably. The new rooms in the annex are on the small side but well appointed and comfortable. The older rooms are larger with character so recommend that you check what you are getting for your booking. Probably best to speak to the hotel direct to check. The taxi fare into Dubrovnik Gate is only Kuna 8.00 but there is a bus service outside the hotel which is great for bringing you home but a longer trip going unless you walk to another bus stop to cut out the trip around the peninsula. (This is because of the one way system around the harbour)

Hotel Lapad is a great choice for Dubrovnik. It is a combination of an older building that has been totally refurbished with an new addition where the rooms are located. It is on the water in the harbor of the newer part of the city (new being a relative term) about a 10 minute cab ride to the old, walled city. We did not eat dinner or lunch at the hotel but breakfasts were good quality and plentiful. The bar area and pool are pleasant.

Just returned from 3 nights at this hotel on B&B basis travelling with my husband. I would highly recommend this hotel for a short break to Dubrovnik because it is easy to reach the old town by bus or even walking and also easy to take boat trips to other islands. A very clean hotel, good first impressions (the hotel arranged our private airport transfers at 550 kuna), we didn't use the pool but it's very clean and quiet - not suitable for children in my opinion because generally the whole hotel is more suited to adults and peace and quiet. There are not really any grounds, just a small garden area and a fountain at the front of the hotel but it's situated right on the Gruz Harbour waterfront with superb outlook to the arriving cruiseliners and small island hopping boats.
The check it process was quick and efficient, the 2 lifts are sparkling and speedy, the bar area has both an inside area and outside terrace with friendly waiter service (there were 3 singers one evening), there is a guest services desk in reception to arrange trips etc, the dining room serves breakfast from 7-10 am and there are plenty of tables and a good selection of both hot and cold buffet. There are plenty of waiting staff. We stayed in a superior room in the old building on the third floor overlooking the harbour with 2 large shuttered windows to throw open to the beautiful views, no balcony. A good sized clean room with large bed and flatscreen tv plus tea/coffee making tray and minibar, hairdryer, trouser press, robes/slippers, digital safe and plenty of storage. The towels were smallish and could have been more plentiful for 2 people. The bedside reading lighting was not brilliant - nothing at all on one side. The drinks prices are very reasonable in the hotel and we had an evening snack meal on the outside terrace one evening - very nice and good value. There is a lovely harbourside restaurant called Orsan a short walk to the left of the hotel and another basic but homely pizza restaurant a short walk to the right of the hotel. Orsan was very pleasant to sit after a long day sightseeing and have a few cold beers watching the little boats come and go. We took a boat trip to Cavtat from the old town harbour, it took approx. 45 mins and cost about £7 each. There are a few restaurants and bars around a pretty harbour but not much else! We went up the cable car from the old town and there are spectacular views up there! It cost about £9 each and there is a lovely restaurant at the top. We didn't do an organised tour of the old town but we walked the walls (costs about £6) and wandered around aimlessly and slowly for a couple of days - it was lovely. There are an abundance of restaurants and bars within the walls and we had a lovely evening meal in Ragusa 2 - highly recommend.
The bus to the old town is right outside the hotel, number 6, and you get tickets from the reception or little newstands dotted around everywhere. Don't bother too much to queue politely to get onto the bus in the old town - the locals just push straight to the front! Don't worry though because they pack you on like sardines! A taxi from the hotel costs about £6 each way. Overall this was a lovely short city break staying at a very clean oasis of a hotel.

Room Tip: 3rd floor superior room overlooking the Gruz harbour - we were number 37
