“A great place to stay.”
Reviewed 30 May 2013

We only stayed here for one night and found the hotel Lapad to be a very nice hotel with friendly helpful staff. The room we had was clean and quite spacious and we really enjoyed the breakfast buffet. The hotel had avery nice pool area. We booked online before we left Australia and it was great value. We wished we had stayed here longer!

This hotel is beautifully arranged and pleasantly situated, with wonderfully polite and helpful staff and extremely good facilities for a relatively small hotel... superb food (breakfast especially, but the evening buffet is also good) and fabulously clean everywhere.

This hotel is ideal who want to be slightly away from the centre of thronging masses of tourists and in touch with the real local atmosphere... yet it's within easy reach of all the main attractions - we were able to walk everywhere without needing to use the (very good) local bus service.

When we booked Hotel Lapad, we were expecting something which was perhaps fairly grand but a little shabby around the edges, but not at all - every detail was attended to and the rooms were crisply decorated and finished with attractively modern appliances. We especially liked the atmosphere of the place - the staff at Hotel Lapad are really helpful and positive and attend to their work with a genuine smile on the face. The only age-group I wouldn't necessarily recommend this hotel to are families with children in the age 4-14 'need entertaining' category, but for everyone else, well - it's near-perfect!

Room Tip: We liked the superior rooms with sea view, but all the rooms seemed to be of a high standard.

We enjoyed Dubrovnik. Staying at Hotel Lapad was excellent. Well located, well appointed, clean rooms, friendly attentive staff, breakfast was v good. And importantly the price was good value for money. I have no problems recommending Hotel Lapad. Plenty of package tour Brits but all good.

Close to bus, tour desk very good at arranging - eg get the Dubrovnik card and use the nmber 6 bus.

It's a bit quirky with lifts and floors that don't immediately tie up, but once sorted is no problem. Our room was small but very comfortable and well appointed with high tech electrics throughout. The bathroom was also of a high specification. Everything was well maintained and perfectly clean.
The food we found to be just to our liking with a good range of salads, vegetables, meat and fish dishes every day. The dishes were varied and well presented - buffet style.
The staff overall were extremely helpful especially in the reception. The dining room staff were not the happiest I've come across but did their job efficiently.
The hotel is situated about 30 minutes walk from the old town and, if you enjoy walking, a very pleasant walk. There is also a good local bus service but during our week's stay we didn't make use of it.
The Lapad peninsula offers a good range of hotels and restaurants nearby and a really good walk around it's perimeter.
We were there in early May and enjoyed both the temperature (low 20s) and generally the absence of hoards of people.
Dubrovnik is the most photogenic place we have visited and also a very interesting one too.

Room Tip: Since the hotel is situated on a steep hillside most rooms appeared to be at ground level! Balconie...

Just returned from a weeks stay which despite the mixed weather we enjoyed, the hotel enjoys a lovely spot looking out to the harbour.

Very clean & well kept throughout with friendly helpful staff.

We had a balcony side room which was fairly small but adequate as others have mentioned it would have been nice to have had tea & coffee making facilities.

Only had breakfast which was well laid out with a good choice.

Our only issues were with the pool area, really needed some kind of shade perhaps parasols to make a more comfortable place to read or relax I would think especially when the weather becomes hotter.
The pool itself was completely un usable as it was so cold really has to be heated to some degree as was clear as even on the hotter days it was no good.

Would definitely recommend and more so if they sorted pool out.

I have given the hotel a 3 star. Yes the hotel is spotlessly clean, staff friendly and very helpful, the bedroom was more than adequate and tastefully designed. The disappointing element was the buffet in the evenings was very average and repetitive. Out of our seven nights we only ate in the restaurant on three occasions If you look at their website it tells you about the a la carte menu and the food looks fabulous however the buffet was very disappointing. Also on the website it states there is entertainment in the evenings with a DJ this transpired to be a trio which wasn't on every evening and the bar is a very small area any form of dancing would have been out of the question. Unfortunately the weather wasn't as good as it should have been and the hotel had no facilities or games so nothing to do in the hotel. If I was to book this hotel again I would choose to book on a Bed and Breakfast basis.

Myself and partner stayed at Hotel Lapad from 5th - 19th May 2013. We cannot fault this hotel on anything. I have broken my review down into different areas:

Cleanliness: The room was spotless with maid service every day as you would expect. The maids are all very polite and offer to come back later if you are in your room. You can choose to have your towels changed every day if you wish, or as the hotel supports a green policy you can opt to change your towels when you need them (you put them in the bath when you want clean towels). The following is carried out on a daily basis in the rooms: clean glasses provided, hoovering, bed making, bathroom cleaned including sink, bath, toilet and floor mopped. The hotel communal areas are also spotless. I really couldn't fault the cleanliness throughout the hotel (and I am a perfectionist!)

The room: We had a standard twin room but were impressed with the balcony view - overlooking mountains and to the right we could see the harbor and comings and goings of the cruise ships which was fun to watch! The beds felt a bit firm to begin with but I actually had no trouble sleeping and found them very comfy. There is plenty of storage in the room including a fairly large wardrobe, two bedside cabinets and chest of three drawers. There was also a very large dressing table which was great for getting ready in the evenings and for storing all our clutter! The bathroom is fab! The self closing toilet seat impressed us! The bathroom is very modern and has a wonderful huge shower head - I miss that shower! Some very minor points about the room 1) as mentioned by others the bathroom wall and door are glass so if you share a room and happen to walk past you can see you room mate in the shower or worse on the toilet! I should add that there is a proper wall between the bedroom area and bathroom so you can get a certain amount of privacy if your room mate stays there! 2) the room was very dark as you entered due to a lack of lighting in that part of the room. This is next to the wardrobe which appeared to have an out of action light inside. When we asked reception about this they explained that the wardrobe lights had been disconnected due to health & safety regulations. This is fine but I think an alternative light should be fitted in the ceiling on the entrance to the room. However these really are minor things and obviously didn't impact on our holiday. I would 100% not let these things put you off but I thought it best to be honest in my review.

The staff: The staff are fantastic always polite and helpful and it was nice that they always said hello when you were going out or arriving back at the hotel. We were unlucky to get caught in a hail storm followed by torrential rain so were drenched on our return to the hotel - the staff were very happy to provide us with pool towels to dry off!

The food: buffet breakfast was very good - american pancakes, cooked breakfast, fruit, 4/5 cereals, porridge, dried fruit, pastries, muffins etc as well as fruit juice, tea and coffee. The buffet dinner for those staying half board is also very good and there is a varied selection each night. We were planning to eat out quite a lot but the buffet was so good we ate in a lot more than we originally planned.

Location: The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to the pedestrian area of Lapad where there is a beach and several cafe's and bars. The Old Town is a 30 minute walk away. We tended to walk as although the bus was good it seemed fairly expensive if you are going in lots about £1.50 per person each way - which is a lot when it's less than 10 minutes on the bus.

For those interested in the weather: we stayed at hotel in early May 2013, the weather was above 20.C during the day every day and sometimes around 25.C or hotter. There were a couple of days when it was cloudy and one day of torrential rain but for a resort like Dubrovnik it's not a big problem because there is lots to do inside in the Old Town.

Overall we loved our holiday to Hotel Lapad and Dubrovnik and if visiting again we wouldn't consider staying anywhere else!
