Nice hotel, nice room, but 50% of the staff have a very unusual concept of customer greeting and service. To classify their manner as offhand or indifferent would be a generous description. Shame really as it taints the whole experience.

The rooms are really nice, breakfast is great, but it is a ways from the old town. Yes you can take the bus, but they are extremely full and we often had to wait for the next one because it was too full. There's really nothing else by it.

Room Tip: The blankets are really heavy.

Dear Puzzled66,

We appreciate your comments about really nice rooms and great breakfast .
It is true that buses are extremely full, especially during the season because there are many hotels on the number 6 bus route.
Hotel Lapad is situated 3 km away from the Old Town of Dubrovnik but most of our clients like the quiet location that enables them to explore Dubrovnik and surrounding areas.

It would be our pleasure to welcome you again.

Best regards,

Katica

we ended up staying at lapad hotel for three nights in july, after qwerty travel emailed us two days before trip to say our original hotel neptun which we had booked six months before was now double booked! anyway on to the hotel there is only one negative about this hotel so little room for sunbeds around the pool 160 rooms and 60 sunbeds unless you want to lie in the shaded garden, everthing else about the hotel was great nice clean comfy rooms excellent choice of food ten minute bus trip into centre od dubrovnic but beware if you dont like your space invaded you will be crushed they stop and fill these buses untill ther is no room to breath, but you know its little differance in price if there are four of you to get a taxi
and the city has to be seen its beautiful in every way

Dear lynda l,

We are pleased you enjoyed your stay overall, but we are sorry you were let down by the limited number of the sunbeds.
Being a city hotel, not a resort Hotel Lapad has a small pool area and we provide the maximum number of sunbeds due to the size of the pool and garden area.

If you decide to return to Dubrovnik we would love to welcome you back.

With kind regards,

Katica

We treated ourselves to a week in Dubrovnik and chose the Hotel Lapad as part of a Thompson package. Our daughter had recommended Croatia as a beautiful destination and how right she was. The hotel was ideally situated to make the most of the attractions Dubrovnik has to offer. We received a courteous welcome and a very quick and efficient check-in on arrival. The staff were always friendly and helpful if a little brusque. The public areas of the hotel were clean and functional. The pool area and terrace were quite small but were lovely areas to spend an hour or two in the sun. The terrace bar was a relaxing area and the service there was very good. We ate breakfast and dinner every day in the dining room. The service there was excellent. Both breakfast and dinner were buffets. The evening meals provided a good choice and the food was nicely cooked and good to eat, but was quite simple fayre. I really enjoyed every meal but you would probably have to eat out or sample their a la carte menu, served on the terrace, if you wanted something a bit different. Our only gripe was with the size of the room and the view. The room was much smaller than we had anticipated. The balcony was only big enough for one person to sit on and was very close and unscreened from our neighbours, who smoked. The window was small and let very little light into the room which made it feel a bit dingy. Whilst the room was cleaned well every day with fresh towels etc, it looked a bit tired and "end of seasonish" with dirty marks on the walls. It reminded us of an average business class hotel room that would be fine for short stay but was not particularly comfortable for a weeks holiday where you may wish to spend some time there. However this did not spoil our overall experience and we would happily stay in the Lapad again, but would ensure we booked a superior room.

Room Tip: Make sure you book a superior room in you intend to spend any time at the hotel.

My husband and I have just spent a wonderful week at the Lapad. My husband has mobility problems which we mentioned to our tour operators but I also sent an e.mail to the Lapad asking for a walk in shower. We were given a fabulous room,606, on the side overlooking the harbour. It had a wet room with a balcony and the room was really big with another balcony(one chair, little table). Although on 6th floor there was a lift to floor one then a short walk to the lift that took you up from there. The hotel was spotless, the staff really helpful from bus tickets from Reception to drinks on the terrace and the dining room staff too. The breakfasts were amazing with a huge choice and the evening meals were good and varied too. This was especially useful for us as the main restaurants locally were quite a walk away and would have been too far for my husband after sightseeing through the day. The wine and drinks generally were expensive and we found a couple to be grim so we tended to stick to beer or the sparkling wine which you could get in a small bottle for about £6.50 or the 0.75ml for about £22 to £30.
The 3 day pass is ideal if there for a week as it included 10 bus tickets into Dubrovnik old town and 3 days where you could go into museums and a ticket for the wall again to be used in the 3 days. The bus tickets can be used for any time span but some people thought they could only be used in the 3 days. The bus goes from and returns to just outside the hotel(6 Babin Kuk)
The walls are a must and the cable car, the view from there is amazing and the little cafe ideal for a couple of drinks as you soak up the view. Gets windy so be careful when having a frothy coffee!
We also went to the lovely village of Cavtat(pronounced Savtat). We thankfully went by bus(10) and costs 20kunar but came back by boat on quite a windy day and my husband was green by the time we got into Dubrovnik.
Another must is the Cave Bar underneath the More 5star hotel. It was discovered when the hotel was being built and it has been cleverly converted into a trendy but reasonably priced bar with a sun terrace where non residents can get a towel and swim in the lovely, clear Adriatic. From the hotel turn left, go up an alley before the Kazbek hotel, vere round past the supermarket and go across road towards Lapad beach. At the end bear right past some little bars on the front then go along the coastal path for about 300yards and you come to the bar. The hotel is worth looking at too although we prefer the position of the Lapad. Each morning you see different cruise ships in the harbour and it is nice to sit on the seats in front of hotel on an evening too. The pool is cold but happy with that and we always managed to get a sun bed. There is unobtrusive entertainment, a DJ, a trio and a guitarist, all very good. The clientele is older but there were younger people, mainly couples.
We could recommend this hotel and area with pleasure.

Room Tip: As above but remember to close balcony doors and to put key card in slot by door to work air conditi...

We stayed here when our friends got married in Croatia. The hotel was perfect. All staff were very accommodating and the breakfast was very good with a wide selection. It is a short walk to many bars and restaurants. The old town is only a short taxi trip away or you can get the bus form outside the hotel. The hotel is charming and meets all needs for a city break. The only thing is the bathroom doors are made from see through glass however there is a connecting door that you can close so that its secluded from the bedroom. over all i would definably stay here again.

Room Tip: we booked a standard room that had sea/harbor views which was spacious and had a little terrace. Fri...

I stayed here for a week in September, as part of a package deal with my friend. We initally got put in a double room when we had booked a twin but were moved two doors down without issue on the 5th floor within 5 minutes of phoning reception. However the twin rooms really aren't spacious enough to have twin beds, as I now have a lovely bruise where I kept hitting the sharp edge of the bed walking around it once the beds were separated.
the lighting panel is a bt of a challenge to work out and the bacony does only sit on - again, with quite sharp edged furniture. However these are only slight flaws in the hotel.

We never experienced any "rudeness" from the staff, they always smiled and greeted us - the staff in the restaurant were lovely (especially Petar). The food was actually some of the best I have experienced in a hotel with always plenty of nice things to tempt us from the dessert choices!

it's an easy trip into Dubrovnik - perfectly walkable by foot and there's also a nice walk around the Lapad headland to get away from the city for a bit! There are some other places to eat and drink nearby in the main part of Lapad, and the bus stops right outside the hotel to take you to Lapad or Dubrovnik. If you get the Dubrovnik card, even for three days, that gets you ten trips on the bus, which if you climb the city walls as well, is definitely a bargain.

You've got to be early to get a sunbed and at this time of the year, the pool is not the warmest place to be, but this didn't really bother me for most of the time - sometimes a refreshing dip was just what was needed after walking around the town.

I can't fault it, and would recommend it to anyone wanting to go to Dubrovnik, but just be a little way out of town.

(If you're british and like your tea it might be worth taking some with you, as the local tea has a bit of an odd after taste)
