This hotel was recommended to us and we are very glad that we followed the advice we were given because this is a very good hotel. Rooms were modern if a little tight-fitting and the food was excellent with usually something for everyone. We stayed for a week and it is well-placed for sightseeing in the old town. If you want to visit some of the museums do buy a Dubrovnik card - we bought the 3 day version which gave us 10 bus rides (worth 70 Kune or 120 kune if bought individually) and entry to the city walls (100 Kune alone) and 7 other attractions. Hotel seems to have taken on board some of the criticisms made in other reviews. Would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to visit the area.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the 8th floor since this would entail a three lift trip

Husband and I have just returned home from a week's holiday at the Hotel Lapad. The hotel is excellent and a good base for getting into the Old Town. A few things about the Hotel, food is lovely and plentiful with good choices and a hot buffet breakfast to start the day off if you wish, otherwise there are cereals, toast jams, marmalade, yoghurt and fresh fruit. We did not request a sea view room but we were on the 6th floor and did in fact have a nice side view of Gruz harbour and were able to see the cruise liners dock from our balcony. Our room was very comfortable and cleaned daily with toiletries replenished when needed. Just one thing beware of the heavy glass door into the bathroom and the glass dividing door especially if you have to get up in the night. Lower rooms may not have the same view as we did. The pool area and other public areas were kept very clean. Although I did not venture into the pool my husband did and said that it was exceptionally cold! Now onto the sightseeing tips. We decided to buy a 3 day Dubrovnik card (200kuna each about £20). This allows you entrance to the city walls (currently 100 kuna each) and 10 bus trips on the local bus. It also allows you entrance to St Lawrence Fort (don't miss this) and the Rectors Palace and a couple more attractions. We visited Cavtat down the coast which is a gem of a place. The number 10 bus from the top of Gruz harbour takes you straight into the bay. Catch the ferry back into Dubrovnik the views are wonderful. Catch the cable car to the top of Mt Srd early to miss the crowds. We went at 9am just perfect. You can walk into the Old city from the Hotel allow a good 50 minutes. From across the harbour from the Hotel you can take the ferry to the Eliphite Islands very cheaply. One last point about the hotels location. It is in a very quiet spot with not a lot going on around it in the way of bars or restaurants but it was lovely to return to after a day's sightseeing. We would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: Higher floors may offer better views of the harbour.

I chose this hotel for our annual Lads weekend away (think Last of the Summer Wine). All agreed it was a good choice. Location is excellent - right on the bay, good views of the hills, the bay and the many ships. Also midway between the old town and the many large hotels at the end of the peninsula. Bus stop right outside.

Staff were helpful but those at breakfast could be advised to smile a bit more!

Rooms were very good although having clear glass walls & door to the bathroom is bizarre! I really didn't want to see my room mate sitting on the toilet. And there's also a strange sliding glass door. But the room was clean, relatively new and with a good view of the bay. There's a safe which is always useful.

The hotel looks quite small from the front but it's a bit like the Tardis - much bigger inside as it extends a long way back, up the hillside. So although we were on the top floor (8th), we were actually level with roads which were further up the hillside. In theory three lifts were needed to reach our room but two of these were just up one floor so we just walked.

Breakfast was very good with a large choice.

Would definitely stay here if I go back to Dubrovnik.

Nothing really special about this hotel, but nothing wrong to say either: Comfortabel and clean rooms, nice beds, friendly and helpful personnel (multilingual), quality breakfast buffet, large outside swimming pool...
Dubrovnik grad is some distance, but easily reached by bus. The hotel looks out onto the harbor with a nice view of the bridge, cruise ships and caraque. There's a small beach at walking distance.

My wife and I stayed at this wonderful hotel during our five-day visit to Dubrovnik. It was recommended to us by Sarah from our travel agent Dreamtime Travel in Bexhill-on-Sea, who always finds us the best hotel to suit our needs (Liz and Danny are equally as helpful).
The location of this hotel is perfect - neither too near nor too far from the city. See http://www.hotel-lapad.hr
It is an elegant hotel right on the waterfront in Lapad. From here to the Old Town is a forty minute walk (well, it was for me in my late sixties!) or a short ride on a bus which costs kn12 each way. Everywhere was spotlessly clean - our rooms, the public areas, poolside, etc. We could not fault the service. Every member of the staff was very polite, helpful, and friendly. They were also very smartly dressed. Lea in reception was wonderful!
Our room was spacious enough for us, and was beautifully appointed with a lovely bathroom.
For breakfast and dinner there was an excellent choice of dishes, and the staff were very attentive.
My wife and I can highly recommend Hotel Lapad.

Room Tip: If you want a peaceful night try room 718.

Excellent hotel! Staff very friendly. All speak english. Spotlessly clean everywhere. We only ate breakfast there but the dining room was clean, bright and spacious. Hot food WAS hot and there was a vast choice. Pool was immaculate as was the poolside. Plenty of sun beds and clean towels. Bar facilities were very good. Bus stop to the old town is right outside and they run around every ten minutes. Would most definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Most rooms have a sea view but it's worth requesting one to make sure you don't miss out!

Arrived on a Thompson package with a friendly knowledgeable taxi transfer. We arrived quite early and were told our room would not be ready until 12.30pm though our luggage was stored away for us. At 12.30 are room was available and we were in room 206 in the annexe which meant that we had a small secluded garden which we shared with the room next door.
The rooms are very well equipped and spacious. The bathroom was also very good except for the glass door! The room was cleaned daily and was spotless. We stayed on a half board basis and the buffet at both had loads of choice and of very good quality.
All the staff we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful with no language barriers.
The pool although far too cold was in a great location with views of Gruz harbour. The walk into the old town was about 40 minutes or 80 kuna by taxi (£9).
A great week with fantastic weather in a lovely hotel away from the hustle & bustle of the old city of Dubrovnik.
