Great hotel. Friendly efficient staff. Kept very clean in all respects (restaurant, bedrooms, communal areas and pool). Pool area is great and relaxing. Breakfast served until 10.30 with extremely wide choice and well presented. Getting into the Old Town is easy: bus stop is just 2/3 minutes away and No 6 bus goes straight their in about 15 minutes. Buses back run 'til midnight. Try local retaurant that is just a few yards to the left of the hotel, where you eat on 1st floor veranda overlooking the port and large cruise ships. The best meal of our 5 day stay. My wife can recommend the grilled shrimps which were more like longoustean.
When visiting the Old Town do take one hour walking tour (90 kuna / £15 each) of the citywhich we really enjoyed.
A very nice hotel which I would thoroughly recommend to anyone. We booked through

Lovely hotel with a historic past and beautifully modern rooms.Staff extremely friendly and professional,Big Vlad provided excellent low key entertainment and if asked ,an interesting history lesson about the hotel and its past.Food was superb, puddings to die for,and no mad rush in the dining room unlike other hotels.Lovely quiet garden for peace in the shade.nice pool for a dip,and a lovely patio area for drinks and snacks, altogether the perfect ambience for a great holiday in a beautiful country.

We booked at the last minute throught the hotels website and got an excellent rate. Very friendly staff and good value. The water taxi that operates from the front door of the hotel is an excellent ad on and allows you travel to the nearby beaches and old town. Only downside is breakfast is a little limited.

Stayed in hotel for 4 nights, our initial welcome was not good, we were unfortunate to meet unsatisfactory Porter, who escorted us to our room via the use of 3 lifts, he did not even offer to carry my bag. However the room was clean and had nice decor.
The remainder of we encountered for the rest of stay were unlike our initial Porter, they were kind courteous and mannerly

we stayed three nights and had a great time. I would highly recommend the hotel for its friendly service, great location and value for money. We stayed at the balcony seaside room which had a decent port view. Superior rooms are little bigger with a better view but no balcony. Taxis are readily available and will take about 5 min to go to the old town where the main action is. If you like to spend a little extra there are sea taxis for about 80 kunas ( 15dollars ). For those who travel from Zagreb, i would recommend renting a car drive through the beautiful coastline. Hvar is a great island to visit as well on the midway. You can take a ferry from Split to reach Hvar which takes about an hour.
Once in dubrovnik definetly do these, listen live jazz at the jazz cafe at main square, have a drink at the Vic's which has the best view, rent a boat at sunset and cruise around the islands ... A must visit town.

Very impressed with Hotel Lapad, booked at very short notice and at excellent price through Expedia. The location positions you in a peaceful area away from Lapad Bay (15 minute walk) and The Old Town (10 minute taxi). The pool is excellent and we spent each of our seven days around it soaking up sun and then cooling off. The rooms were well appointed with excellent modern fitting in the bathroom and the care that had gone into the design and build of the hotel shone through everywhere. Only criticism would be that the breakfast buffet is a little eccentric (asparagus omelette is a new one on me) and the poolside music is a bit cheesy but these are very minor points - all in all highly recommended!
