Very impressed with the rooms and the staff. On-site parking for those driving around Croatia. Excellent amenities with a large buffet breakfast. Handy bus ride to the old city. Right on the harbour with views across to the ferry terminal. We stayed here with two other couples and had a great time. Definitely recommend trying "Lamb under the Bell" in the restaurant next door. Free wifi on every floor.

Our original 5 night booking turned into 8 due to the volcanic ash cloud. The hotel and staff couldn't have been nicer. The hotel even halved the cost of the evening buffet for stranded tourists - which was a very nice gesture. The breakfast buffet was huge and very nice and the evening buffet equally so when operating fully which is just as well as the a la carte menu was a bit limited. The bedrooms were modern and kept spotlessly clean. There was a fridge, hairdryer, room safe, magnifying mirror, adequate hanging and drawer space and modern fitments incl. a flat screen TV with a mix of channels (BBC News 24 and Sky News etc). As it was still 'winter' the hotel was being heated, so we found the hotel rooms too warm (slept with the window open the whole stay) and the aircon was not in use. The complimentary wi-fi was a real boon but access was in your room not in any public rooms although there were two public terminals in a room just off the bar area. One problem for us was the weather, as it wasn't very sunny and rained a fair bit, but on the days the sun appeared we discovered there were no sun beds which was a bit of a disappointment. The walled garden adjacent to the pool area had a pile ofl broken ones, there were just 4 in use that had been salvaged from that (due to it being 'winter' I presume?) pity not to be able to take advantage of what little sun there was!
A lot of places we had intended to try out, from recommendations on Trip Advisor, were not open due to it being off-season, in particular Restaurant Dubrovnik in the old town. Apparently due to open sometime in May. There were loads of eateries that were open incl. Blinge just down from the hotel where the chairs weigh a ton and the food portions are enormous! We also found a great fine dining experience in 'Wanda's' on Prijecko (6?) which comes with recommendation from Rick Stein. Prijecko runs parallel to the Stradun on the left about two sets of steps up the hillside almost the entire length from Pile Gate to Ploce. It's the same alleyway as the vegetarian restaurant Nishka, but at the opposite end nearest the Clock tower. It was on the expensive side but most certainly worth splashing out for one meal as the food and presentation was fantastic and there were nice wines too.
The City Cafe to the right of the clock tower in the Stradun was a great place to watch the world go by over a coffee and a huge piece of custard slice (enough for 2 to share easily) and was surprisingly inexpensive for such an obvious central vantage point (good loos too)! There was a massive cleaning of public buildings project in full swing and regeneration of some too so that did detract a bit from the beauty of the old town, with scaffolding and piles of materials in the main Stradun, but on the plus side it was also interesting seeing how the materials were conveyed to the various sites and 'pointing' done on walls 5 floors up in a narrow alleyway!
It's about 35 mins stroll into the Old Town or the No.6 bus goes from right outside the hotel (pre buy tickets at the hotel or in a newsagent or it costs more to pay the driver) the ferry to Gruz was not running as it was still 'winter' but the main bus terminal is only 10mins walk round the harbour, opposite a supermarket called 'Tommy'. You can get a bus to Cavat easily, which is well worth a visit. There is another supermarket called 'Kozcum' nearby and a bigger one by the cruise terminal at Gruz. The coach station is also just a bit further on from the cruise terminal, where you can get a coach to Split but it's over 4 hours by road and there are no trains in Dubrovnik. There are also two chemists on that side of the water (15mins walk) most medications can be bought over the counter.
If you walk in the opposite direction to the town on leaving the hotel (past the Yacht Club Orcan) you can follow a footpath alongside the water which passes the Copacabana beach and emerges by some resort hotels where the No. 6 bus lays over for 10mins before heading back into town.
It's useful to know there is a loo and two cafes located on the walls of the old town if you decide to walk them. The ticket is only good for one entry and everyone now walks in an anti-clockwise direction. If you get nice weather a visit to one of the islands or a harbour cruise is certainly on the agenda but you can do the area quite thoroughly in 3-5 days max.

We were booked for 3 nights originally, but this was extended to 6 nights as our flight was delayed due to the problems with flights over northern Europe. The initial deal that the hotel had offered us was excellent and could not be matched by any of the online agencies, and I was especially impressed that the hotel charged us just a few euros a night extra for the room, rather than the rack rate, during our extended stay. We were travelling with friends and it was great that they were not just in the next room to us, but we were able to enjoy our own terraced area, just for the 2 rooms. The staff were always polite and helpful and some went well beyond the call of duty by helping us to organise a coach to enable us, and other stranded holidaymakers, to take us to Calais. It is because of them, especially Lea and Andro, that we were able to resume our lives in the UK more quickly than most...an enormous thank you to them for their support. As for the hotel...the rooms were comfortable and immaculately clean, as were all the public areas. The breakfast was buffet style, well laid out and with plenty of choice. The city centre is a short bus ride away and you are able to buy the bus tickets at Reception...in fact, it is cheaper to do so!. I will certainlyhighly recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Dubrovnik in the future.

We were booked for a three night stay with our friends and were pleased to have adjacent rooms. The rooms were excellently appointed-all mod cons. The hotel is an easy walk to the bus stop to get into the old town and it is possible to take a relaxing stroll round the coast and harbour. The site of the massive cruise ships on the far side of the bay, is very impresive. The buffet breakfasts were fantastic-everything anyone could want was on offer. Bar snacks also reasonab;y priced and tasty.
The three night stay however, turned into six nights when the volcanic ash delayed our return to the UK! Thankfully, the hotel was able to accommodate us for the extra nights and did not attempt to fleece us by putting up the price to the full rack rate! The reception staff were amazing and helped us to locate a coach with driver who was able to take us and many others back to the UK on our seventh day. All in all, I would totally recommend this hotel for it's service, friendliness, helpfulness, staff, food, rooms and location. Thank you Hotel Lapad!

The Croatian Tourist Board picked this hotel for us & we were very pleased. The hotel is a 40 min walk to the Old Town or an £8-10 taxi. It is a refurbished mansion with a modern sympathetic conservatory and a new bedroom wing rising from the rear of the hotel up the side of a small incline. Bedrooms at the front enjoy the views over the river and high ceilings, whilst I didnt see the modern bedrooms thay appear to be beautiful from the website. The bedrooms in the front of the Hotel are reasonably spacious, with very modern bathrooms- complete with a glass door, so no privacy - which is a trend that is growing amongst some Hoteliers. Breakfast is an impressive Buffet, with a very good range of products. We did not dine here, but there is a evening buffet offered also.
The staff are very pleasant & take pride in their work and are obviously very proud of their property.
On Dubrovnik itself, beware of the very pricey tourist restaurants to the left of the main street in the Old Town, as there are many to choose from, please look before you commit. Overall the range, choice & quality is excellent in all restaurants & the Old Town itself is charming. Try & avoid high season, when I believe that the town is uncomfortably crowded.

The staff are friendly and helpful. You couldn't ask for a better breakfast (buffet). The hotel is right on the bay, so the location is pleasant, but also well placed as you can take a nice long walk or quick bus ride in to the old town. Even better, you have easy access to all the nice attractions of the Lapad peninsula, relaxing cafes and restaurants and a lovely seawalk. Also, the hotel is quite close to the bus station and ferry terminal. If I am ever lucky enough to return to Dubrovnik I will definitely stay at the same place.
