“Beautiful hotel”
Reviewed 7 June 2010

This hotel is situated on a fairly quiet one-way road next to the port. The water literally laps up a few meters from the entrance to the hotel. The main building is lovely and a decent sized pool sits betwee the road and the main building.

We had a pool/water view superior room. It was very modern but small. There were a few design defects in the bathroom but nothing material. We would have liked a balcony, especially as the room is small, but that wasn't an option for our room type. The flat screen TV had fairly bad reception and a rather expensive choice of pay-per-view films. The room was well serviced apart from some minor issues.

The included breakfast was average. The coffee was terrible but easily fixed by asking for espresso coffee which the hotel seemed ready to be provide.

The staff at the front desk were great. The resturant staff were grumpy and were clearly commenting to each other in Croatian about the guests.

There are a few resturants in the very close vicinity - the yacht club is good for fish. It takes about 10mins to walk to a touristy road with lots of resturants. walk down this road for another 10mins and you get to the closest beach.

To get to the hotel from town take the No 6 bus which stops outside the hotel. To get the bus back to town requires a 10min walk.

I got the impression that the hotel would have a 20-30 year old clientel (pool parties were mentioned) but most people were older and on tour groups. This may just have been June though.

It was a major plus that the hotel offered free wi-fi throughout and also had a free computer. I believe that in this day and age, any serious hotel should offer free wi-fi throughout.

I was worried that it might be noisy being opposite the port but despite several ships coming and going, it wasn't.

This hotel would be classed as a boutique hotel in most travel literature, and it certainly lives up to that standard. Original artwork thruoghout the building, high quality finshes thruoghout, but at a price that was very affordable.

After much looking on the internet, the best price we found was thruogh the hotel website itself (paid in advance with no flexibility) which made it a very attractive option in Dubrovnik. It is very close to lots of resturants, but the hotel has one itself, and the bar food was fantastic value for money for a quick bite to eat.

Would recomend this hotel for all travellers, the pool is great for the kids (bit chilly in April for a dip though) in the summer.Free internet and the breakfast is simply fantastic with wonderful and friendly staff.

Free parking for aguests is also a plus in Dubrovnik!

My wife and I stayed here for our Honeymoon in April, the hotel had a basket of lovely fresh fruit waiting for us in our room as a kind welcoming gesture for the newly wed couple.

The service from the staff throughout the hotel was brilliant and the food for breakfast and dinner was allways good with an amazing selection of hot and cold buffet food for breakfast.

We stayed and extra 3days due to the Icelandic Volcanic Ash cloud disrupting travel throughout Europe, the unplanned stay was not a problem to the hotel and we were able to stay in the our original room and they did not charge us any more than the daily rate we paid when we booked the holiday.

The staff were very helpful and would enquire about train times and the flight situation at the airports and act as translators when stuck with the language.

All in all we would definately stay here again, although to use the outdoor pool it would need to be summer!

This hotel exceeded our expectations. Lovely, large room. Generally excellent service. Attractive position. After poor experience with restaurants in Dubrovnik, we opted to eat regularly in the hotel which was also very good.

The room comments are about the bedrooms in the original building which had obviously been recently refurbished to a high standard.

Whilst having coffee in the bar at the Lapad Hotel on the 17th May, with several friends, my wife had an accident. When picking up her saucer and coffee cup from the table, where it had been placed by the waiter, the cup toppled towards her and spilt the hot coffee into her lap. The crockery, especially the saucers, are of very poor design and one could say it was an accident waiting to happen. The coffee completely soaked and stained her clothing.

However, what was most disappointing was the complete disinterest of the staff in providing assistance in wiping up the spilt coffee or providing assistance to my wife. The waiter in the bar was more interested in serving other customers. The attitude of the staff in reception was similar. The general attitude seemed to be one of not wanting to acknowledge that the event had occured.

We certainly could not recommend the service in this hotel.

My Fiancée and I stayed at hotel Lapad for only a week but we both wished we could have stayed longer.

Originally I was a little apprehensive about booking the hotel as neither of us had seen any reviews. Even while our transfer bus was dropping others of at their hotels I was wondering how ours would compared to theirs. Looking back now I can laugh!!

Our hotel was fantastic....

The rooms were clean, comfortable, modern and provided moor than enough space. The food at the hotel was more than okay (although we tried to eat out as much as possible). The staff were helpful and spoke good english (Which was a bonus as my Croatian isn't too sharp!)

The only negatives were the view from our room (which was not awful, but overlooked air conditioning equipment) and the pool side became quite busy (although we were always able to find a spot!)

I even enjoyed the mini quiz by the pool one evening (winning it might have influenced my opinion!)

All in all we both had a fantastic time at this hotel. I would certainly recommend this for couples and families.
