I was in Hotel Lapad two week ago and I have stayed there for one week. The rooms are beautifully decorated, but the bathroom in the room is quite interesting. (You can see the inside of the bathroom while entering the room)
The Hotel is near to the Old City and If you prefer to go there by taxi, It would cost you about 10 euro. Also there is a bus-station nearby the Hotel. The Hotel is located against the harbour on the side of the bay. You can go to nearby beaches easily by walking. The swimming pool is quite small and there is no area for children. Despite the other comments, the sunbeds around the pool are enough for everybody (Just an observation, never used one of them)
The staff is very polite (however they sound like they are rude but it is the way they talk, you don’t need to take it personally) and helpful. The breakfast buffet is good enough, but I would suggest you to take the dinner option. You can find better places to eat around the hotel and the city.
Excursions: There is nothing special about Mostar excursion (Maybe it is because I am Turkish) You can try to visit Montenegro. The boat excursion to 3 islands, which the hotel organizes, does not satisfy me. The boat is too small and slow. You can try to rent a boat for yourself or try to join another boat excursions. The first two islands are quite small and nothing special about them. The last island has a sandy beach which you can enjoy the Adriatic Sea.
There were two clubs which you can take into consideration. Latino Club Fuego gets crowded after 1 am. The music is good and the staff is very friendly. However anybody can enter the club and it becomes very disturbing after some time. The other choice is Eastwest club which is located at the other side of the Old City. The club is more elegant compared to Latino Club. However noone generally dance in the club except for the Saturday nights. Through my vacation, people only danced around the club when the two Ukranian girls who stayed at Hotel Lapad, started to dance(by the way I was sorry for not to have a chance to say goodbye to them) If you like gambling, you can book a room from Hotel Rixos because there is a casino in there (I guess the casino is one of the two casinos in the city)
As a result If you want to visit Dubrovnik, you need to stay at most 3 or 4 nights. You will start to get bored and you cannot find alternative things to do in the city. If you are looking for nightlife and entertainment, you must not choice Dubrovnik as your travel destination. (People tries to stand on a rock on the wall to have fun in the Old City) However the Old City and the islands and bays is worth to discover.
