“Very very nice hotel, and great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2011

Writing this review very late, but promised Dennis, the owner/manager that I would do so, and have been feeling guilty about not doing it earlier, especially since we use Trip Advisor a lot! In short, the Neptune is lovely. It has a great European feel to it, with an open lobby, great service and comfortable rooms. The highlight though really is the pool, bar and restaurants that are set into the rocks overlooking the Adriatic. You can also jump off the rocks (nothing too scary, as my 11 year old daughter loved jumping off into the sea). The staff service is great, and while we often like quieter places, this is one that has such a great feel to it. I also have to compliment Dennis, who happens to be a fellow Canadian, on his welcoming nature. We met him when we were checking out and he offered to help my 13 year old daughter carry her bags out. After having a nice chat about the hotel, we needed to store some bags as we were going on a cruise of the Adriatic, he allowed us to come back when we had a 8 hour window on our last day and just hang out at the hotel and enjoy the facilities. Dubrovnik's a great city, and what a welcoming property.

During our short trip to Croatia we stayed at 2 hotels in Dubrovnik: Radisson and Neptun. We booked the hotels for the same price. Compared to Radisson, Neptun is less chic and the breakfast there is less impressive, so are the spa facilities. But still this is a nice hotel - it has a less deserted location (Radisson is really in the middle of nowhere) and the sea view is just as great. What I didn't like at Neptun is that instead of a double bed we had 2 twin beds put together.

We got upgraded from a standard room to one with a sea view for free (outside of the high season!), and if you ever stay in this hotel, make sure you book a room with sea view. It's wonderful! The sea is 30m below and in front of you, and watching the sunrise/sunset from the (rather small) balcony is a true experience!
The rooms themselves are rather old style, but spacious, clean, and with all comfort.
Breakfast choice is vast (large selection of hot and cold items) and good, but in a large and impersonal cafeteria.
Indoor swimming pool is a bit small. Fitness area right next to it has all equipment you need to stay in shape.
The hotel itself is located 5km from the old town, kind of in the middle of nowhere. If you have your own transport, this should be no problem.
Did not check out beach facilities since the weather was too cold at the time.
If you're looking for a quiet place not too far from the city centre, and if you have your own transport, this is an excellent price/value hotel. Would certainly come back.

We stayed in Neptun hotel for one night and we are so impressed. Location of hotel is just great, out of the crowded city and noise, in the middle of great nature and beaches. Hotel Neptun is a part of Importanne Resort and it`s highest hotel around so you can imagine view from it. It have one of most amazing views I`ve had ever seen in my life. We got a panoramic double sea view room over entire sea and coast. You can even see ocean from bathroom.
Rooms are extremely clean, with all modern equipment (new Sony LCDs), ultra silent AC, large and clean bathroom with soft towels, bathrobes and slippers. Hotel is clean although we stayed there on "start" of season (it`s open all year). There is lot of Mediterranean plants and trees around hotel that need some work (cleaning, cutting, new plants ) before top season so it would look even better than. Maybe new paint for the room (there were some scuffs on wall from suitcases I suppose) but in general it`s fabulous. Even it wasn`t beach season, the beach looks great, it`s clean, large and I think private, limited just for hotel guests. There are two nice, small outside pools for kids with safeguards. Inside pool/spa with gym is nice, too. Our room had great and large balcony so you can enjoy view every morning or evening.
Staff are extremely polite, nice and professional. They can help you what ever you need. Public transportation is great, bus station is app. 70m outside of hotel and one way ticket (valid for an hour) is 8kn (1,10Euro). You can buy tickets at reception. There is also free Wi-Fi in area of hotel. If you can, choose Neptun, you won`t be sorry .

Room Tip: If possible book a sea view room, there are great

Excellent, excellent location. Easy access to town via bus and lovely walk along coast. Hospitable and friendly staff from start to finish. Great view from room but could have been slightly bigger. will be back.

Recently spent seven nights at the Neptun Hotel and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is
part of the Importanne Resort on Lapad Bay and is just gorgeous! Our room was lovely with a balcony overlooking the Adriatric and with great views across the bay.
The hotel is set in a complex that includes a beach bar, buffet restaurant and a la carte restaurant in extensive (and beautiful ) grounds. There is an indoor pool and gym which I used each day and always had to myself, as it was end of season when we were there.
Breakfast is served in the buffet restaurant and has all the usual hot and cold fare - unusually they serve chips and hot veg at breakfast - on my first morning there were brussel sprouts and carrots available!! We had dinner in restauant Zoe twice during our stay and it was very nice indeed. Be aware that the cheapest bottle of wine you'll get in any of the restaurants around is 160 kuna, which is pricey for a house wine, but the food is delicious and very reasonalbly priced, so it levels out.
You can get onto the coatal path around Lapad Bay going in either direction from the hotel, and it's beautiful. Getting on from the front of the President Hotel ( next door to Neptun) takes you to Copacabana Beach, going the other way is a twenty minute walk to the Promenade with lots of bars and restauants, and a Pemo supermarket behind the shopping centre - handy for buying wine at a fraction of restaurant prices to sip on your balcony! Going this way the Levanat restaurant is five minutes walk for the hotel and it was our favourite place to eat during our stay. It's in a stunning setting overlooking the Adriatic and we often had coffee or beer there during the day as well.
The number six bus leaves from just outside the hotel and gets into the Old City in about 25 minutes, it's cheap and frequent.
The highlight of our trip was an excursion to Mostar in Bosnia. It was a fabulous experience. If you're going buy your souveniours there, as they're a fraction of the price you'll pay in Dubrovnik and are a lot better quality as well! Unfortunately we'd already got ours!
The staff and quality of service in Hotel Neptune was excellent, we were very happy with the whole experience and would definitely like to go back. Seeing all the other hotels from the brochure as we went around, the Neptune definitely has the best location. Staying there you have everything you need just to chill out and relax, but also very easy access to the bustle of the Old City when you want it.

Superb Hotel with magnificent views. Beautiful peaceful location, but only 20 minutes by bus to the busy amazing Dubrovnik! Hotel staff all friendly, helpful, polite and professional. Great choice and variety at breakfast whilst watching the cruise ships heading into Dub' for the day. My only slight criticism is that as we booked half - board, we ate most nights in the restaurant, and although there was always a good choice of food, it was a little un-inspiring and with there not being many others eating there, it sometimes lacked atmosphere. If we went again, we would just do B & B and eat elsewhere in the evening, although that would work out more costly. Lovely walk along the path into busier area of Lapad bay. No beach, but always sunbeds available on rocky shore and steps down into the sea ( if brave enough) or choice of pools which never seemed crowded ( may be different in high season).

All in all a lovely relaxing place, but easy to get to the 'hustle and bustle' of the city if you want to.
