“Historical city and Beach Resort in one!”
Reviewed 12 July 2010

Great place to stay in Dubroovnik! You can tour the old city and still be in a realxing resort type hotel at the end of the day...and its only a 15 minute bus ride! Room was clean, modern, with great views of bay. Included great breakfast and nice dining option overlooking the water. Best of both worlds!

Stayed recently for five nights with elderly parents; overall a very good trip, we all enjoyed it!

Good points:

Attentive, professional staff eager to help and always jovial and smiling! Excellent beakfasts. Fantastic setting on ocean edge, good pool / sunbathing and bar scene.

Comfortable beds in reasonable size, very clean rooms with modern bathroom. Good sleep every night with only occasional disturbance from other guests. Great view from balcony.

Free internet (15 minutes).

Only downside was limited menu for lunch / dinner, basic but satisfactory food. Some imported wine on wine list was expensive (but no more so than other places).

Fantasic sighseeing (Dubrovnik old town easily accessable by bus). Restaurants of reasonable standard prices equal to UK. Good local wines. Would recommend a visit to Cavtat by boat.

Will return to Dubrovnik and would stay at this Hotel again soon.

Pro: Outstanding location and pool/beach setting. Hard to beat. Great breakfast with beautiful view. Indoor pool and gym too. Good value lunch right on terrace. Gave you a room to shower after you had checked out and if you flew out later in the day. Provided a good balance for both couples and families (there's enough places to lounge and a separate kiddie pool). Rooms were nice, very nice... The resort is really 3 hotels in one... A great, pretty walk along the shore into Lapad.. Only 100 yards from the Levant Restaurant - easily the best in Lapad.

Con: People not staying at the hotel that came in to use the pool. Be sure to inform management. This was highly annoying. Pricey bar drinks - annoying too (but Dubrovnik in general is above average in price...certainly more expensive than rest of Croatia). The playground was simply one swing-set.

As with some others who have reviewed we were upgraded for no particular reason to the 5 star section of the resort which was the perfect start to our holiday. The staff were fantastic and the facilities impressive. They helped us plan much of our stay and as we only had 4 nights we wanted to make the most of it. They booked a days sailing for us and recommended beaches and islands to visit.

The hotel is a 15 minute bus from the old town and run every 10 minutes from the hotel. This suited us because the hotel is on the seafront and although it doesn't have it's own beach you can get into the sea from the pool area. The restaurants have beautiful views out to sea and are particularly good for watching the sunset.

We all loved Dubrovnik and would definitely go back to this hotel again.

Clean comfortable hotel, with a fantastic view of the sea. It's a bus journey to the old town, but the buses are really frequent and it can actually be nice to escape the cruise ship crowds of Dubrovnik Old Town.

We stayed for 2 nights in late May and found the hotel furnished to a very high standard with everything you need. We had a room with a breathtaking sea view balcony (worth the extra money). The hotel has 3 swimming pools, two of which are right next to the sea.
The main downside was the quality of the breakfast although there was a good variety the quality was not
up to 4 star standards.
Lapad (the are where the hotel is located) is not within walking distance to the old town and the bus ride resembles rush hour London!
The hotel restaurant is good for lunch but we would recommend “Eden restaurant! For dinner (15 mins walk).
Overall we would recommend this hotel.

May 2010 Saw me and my girlfriend return to the Neptun after a perfect holiday there in May 2009. I returned with a little trepidation that last year's experience would be unmatchable, I needn't have worried, in every aspect the Neptun proved absolutely fantastic.

From the moment we arrived every member of staff we had any contact with was very friendly, from the porter to the ever friendly reception staff to those in the restaurants and even the owner!

The hotel is set a short bus ride from Dubrovnik's historic Old Town which is ideal, buses are frequent and cheap and the hotel remains secluded and picturesque with its own bathing area straight into the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic.

Breakfast is amazing, a massive variety of fresh and tasty food to suit all tastes, cold platters of meats and cheeses, cooked breakfast items, fresh breads and toast, yoghurts, fresh fruit, everything imaginable.

The hotel has a variety of restaurants and bars, I can recommend Restaurant Zoe for both a lunchtime light meal and a more formal evening meal. The beach bar serves superb cocktails, their frozen strawberry colada is ideal on a warm day by the sea.

I have stayed extensively in hotels across Europe and the US and have never been made to feel as welcome as I did at the Neptun, nothing was too much trouble and everyone genuinely wanted to make your trip enjoyable.

Needless to say I shall be back!
