We booked a table the day before and were asked what time and what table. We arrived and the greeted us and led us through the biz to the exact table we requested.- No fuss, but we were treated like honoured quests. it a quiet location with a busker playing an exceptional guitar- no begging - just promoting his CD. Mushroom soup, not something you would normally praise, but boy was it good. Tuna steak was thick and juicy, cooked to perfection. wine chilled. I was chilled. recommended wholeheartedly

This restaurant is in a quiet area of Dubrovnik, behind a square containing a lot of restaurants and up the wide steps, not unlike the Spanish Steps of Rome.

Had not booked a table but were quickly shown to one and our order was soon taken. Food took about twenty minutes to come, good considering they were so busy. We had a glass of wine each, the house white and a glass of red, got so little of the red it was hardly worth bringing.

Our mains were pork medallions on a bed of rice and mushrooms and sea bass on a bed of Swiss chard and a side dish of potatoes. For dessert we shared chocolate cake with cream, ice cream and fruits of the forest.

The food was excellent, the service very good and I would describe the waiters as efficient rather than friendly.

The only other item we had was a bottle of water, the dishes we had were less expensive than a lot of other dishes on menu. However the bill came to 560 kuna, about 75 euro or £65.

Okay if you are not concerned about the price, otherwise not somewhere to eat every night!

This eatery is located next to a church and has nice ambience with outdoor seating. The location is not a heavily trafficked area like the main walkways and this lends to an outdoor but more private atmosphere. The night I visited there was a classical guitar playing near the church and it added to the atmosphere.

The menu is designed for course settings and not just a main. The portions while still large for French portions are smaller than the average tourist trap which allow for the courses.

I started with a warm appetizer of spaghetti with almond and cheese. I felt the cheese was a bit to dry and either needed more oil or something extra in the plate. Still it was a nice texture of playable cheese with the sliced almonds.

My main was a Capon. A nice plate of chicken that has citrus flavor from orange and possibly other fruit with some pasta. The flavours of this plate were very complimentary. I ordered a side of grilled vegetables that seemed too heavily doused in oil. The strudel dessert was a bit dry for my taste but a nice sweet.

The staff is very attentive, caring, and perceptive. For its price point the eatery needs to improve its standards a bit.

We also ate at the restaurant next door but this one we felt was just that bit better. The menu choice was excellent. We had a mixed plate of dalmatian cheese and ham to start on both occasions and it was lovely. We also tried the monkfish and the Pastitsata( a beef dish in a rich sauce with pasta) and both were excellent. The house wine was excellent and a good price. The service was really friendly and we had the added bonus of a short performance one night by a local choir who were using the restaurant to rehearse. We shared a wonderful pudding- chocolate fondant with ice cream. Well worth the 15 minutes you have to wait for it! This is just a lovely restaurant in a beautiful spot. On each occasion the meal cost approx 500 Kuna including a litre of wine and bottle of water. Really good value.
