This was the most beautiful beach in Dubrovnik (not that there are many). It has a very nice view from the old town, Lokrum island and surroundings.
We went there by car. You follow the road "ulica Frana Supila" and directly after you pass Hotel Argentina (direction from old town to the beach) you take the road to the right until you reach the church. You should pay for parking there (20 kuna/hour and the machine only took coins). As we found out, there was a road after the church (a bit narrow, but most of cars could fit in) and at the end of the road there were the ruins of an old hotel, where we and others parked the car for free. Right there than you take the steps to the beach.

This place is so beautiful.. A local gem hidden away from tourists. It is beautiful. Beach side cocktails, music, fresh food, cool water and views of old town. This is the sort of beach I was looking for when I came to croatia!

We walked from the old town of Dubrovnik to Sveti Jakov beach. The walk is absolutely charming. The villas you see on the way are equisite.

The stairs going down to the beach are plentiful, and once you get down, you will be forever greatful you saw the view and revelled in the clear, blue waters because that will sustain you when you climb back up again to go back to the hotel.

It's worth it! Just do it!
And there is a little cafe/restaurant there that serves a light lunch (unusual in Croatia), great wine and good coffee......so that will help with the motivation.

This beach was a short 5min walk from our apartment and visited here twice during our week with our son. Difficult to find but make sure you walk to the end of the road, behind the church, and then take the set of steps on the right down to the beach.

Visited mid May and was very quiet with works being completed to the bar/restaurant for the high season I imagine. Beach is rocky and pebbly with sandy sections - what you would expect from a man made beach.

Sea was freezing but some made people went in. Our son liked it as his first beach visit and had fun trying to throw stones into the sea while getting his feet wet!!

If visiting with young children/babies, don't bother with a buggy and just take a carrier if you have one - buggy could be left at the top of the steps.

We visited this beach in very late October on trip advisor recommendation. Quite a walk from the city. We are fast walkers it took 25 mins. The steps down are steep, not in good condition and many! No good unless fit. Very nice small beach with only two other people on it. Today lots of litter and dead leaves and no facilities at all open. Signs say that Kayaking runs from here. Presumably in season it does so might get busy on this beach. Better than Banje if you can manage the steps.
