Limestone House is a family owned and run B&B set on the hill approx 5 minutes on foot from the old town.
The rooms are clean, bright and quiet and ours had AC and an ensuite. The owner is a lovely lady that grows all her own fruit and veg and does a beautiful continental breakfast with the most amazing homemade bread AND CAKE. You smell it wafting around the house as you're getting ready in your room. Just perfect.

So cheap too! Highly reccomended

Room Tip: We had a twin with a window to the back garden, but there's a double with a wee balcony too. Try...

We were quite looking forward to staying at Limestone House. There were 4 of us and we booked 2 separate double rooms with Vlado over the internet. He was always very nice. One of the rooms was slightly more expensive than the other because it had a small terrace, and we were offered free private parking.

There was street parking in front of Limestone House, but all the spaces were filled, so we had to drive a couple of kilometres around the block before we found an empty space. This would be the parking for the 5 days we were there....there was no private space as we had been told and there was rarely a free spot at first try. My friend and I knocked on the door of the house while the men got the luggage out of the car. A young woman answered, we asked if this was Limestone House as there was no sign (or we didn't see one), and said we had booked two rooms. She looked confused and said 'two'?? and disappeared for 5 minutes. No problem though as Vlado was there and told us our rooms were ready. Surprisingly, instead of leading us into the house, he started walking down the street. He came to a stone staircase and started heading up it. We were shocked that there were about 80 stairs before we reached the building with our rooms. This was never told to us in all the email exchanges we had had. This was very difficult for two of us as we have arthritis, and we had to do it at least three times a day. Vlado dragged my suitcase up the stairs, and wrecked it.

Our friends took the first room. It was average size, and there were two windows with no screens. We did not have a problem with mosquitos, but one of our friends got a couple of bites. Their complaints about the room were that there wasn't much furniture, and every time they took a shower, the shower door would fall off. Our room was much bigger, and had a tiny courtyard. Our only furniture was a bed, two chairs and a TV stand with an old TV that didn't work. The room bore no resemblance at all to the pictures on the internet. The bathroom was disgusting. There was mold, a filthy, moldy shower curtain, and no air circulation so that the towels stayed wet. Sitting on the toilet, our knees were smashed up against the wall, it was so small. We had no windows in our room, only the door to the terrace. Because we didn't want to leave it open at night, we had to have the noisy air conditioner on. Speaking of sleeping, the bed had one small sheet that didn't fit it. Either me or my husband could use it, it wasn't big enough to cover both of us. Down 80 stairs every morning for breakfast at the main house, and then back up again to brush our teeth. Then down again, and after a short walk, down another 255 steps to the old city. Breakfast was very good, and always on time. No complaints there. We did like having the terrace, but it was downwind of garbage and a disgusting sewer smell. There was a lovely garden to sit in. To sum it up, breakfast and the garden were very nice. Would I stay here again? Never. Our rooms were on the main floor of the building. We did talk to others that were on the top floor and they said their rooms were beautiful, and they had a nice view of the sea. They paid more than double what we did. When booking rooms, we weren't given a choice of rooms as there were only two available, and of course we assumed they were the ones in the pictures. And I must add that after check-in, we never saw Vlado again. His wife is very abrupt, obviously overworked. The second morning, she wanted us to pay and we hadn't been to the bank yet, and were heading out at 8 am for a day trip to Montenegro. She would not give us our passports back until we paid, so we had to run up the street to the ATM. I should also mention, we had no housekeeping service in the time we were there. At one point, I went into another vacant room, and just took the clean towels.

Room Tip: Ensure that your room is either in the main house (I didn't see these rooms, but they are in the...

Limestone House is well located and a reasonable price. It is within walking distance of the old town and the rooms were clean, basic but comfortable. You must pay only with cash which is a little annoying. I would recommend this guest house if you are staying for a few nights.

We stayed at the Limestone House for 2 nights and we were happy with our choice. The accomodation is well located and is within walking distance of the old town and the rooms were clean and comfortable.
The owners were nice and friendly to us and for a reasonable fee collected us from the airport and took us to our accomodation.
Breakfast is a buffet affair and there is a relatively ok choice of food on offer.
One thing that did annoy me a little is that you must pay only with cash and this was not made clear to me at any time other than when we were trying to pay. Over all though this was the only fly in the ointment and Vlado (the owner) was very accomodating.
I would say that the Limestone House is worth considering for accomodation at a reasonable price.

We have just returned from a week in Dubrovnik. It is a beautiful city to explore, very tiring with all those steps!! All the more important that you have a good place to stay where you can rest and get your breath back...Anita,our landlady, was like your mother, sister and friend all rolled in to one! Nothing was too much trouble for her,she gave me elastoplast for my sore foot, and lent us 2 beach towels for a sudden desire to go to the beach.
Our room was everything we had hoped for, having studied the website and photos thoroughly. Anita cleaned it every day, changed our towels 3 times, and our bed once, and we were only there for a week! The breakfast is 7 euros,we got one free as we were staying one week. The breakfast was delicious, with a different cooked thing each day.
With just 3 rooms it is just the right size for personal service.
Only slight negatives were the busy road if you are in the big front room, but it quietens down at night, and the shower head couldn't be fixed to the the wall bracket as it was broken, but these were very minor things.
All in all, an extremely comfortable, very clean accommodation-we have no hesitation in recommending this house. Oh! And Anita gave us 2 gifts on leaving! She is just the nicest landlady we have met.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter, but may be smaller.

We stayed at the Limestone House Sobe in Dubrovnik this April, it was a wonderful sobe with a wonderful host, Anita, our room was perfect, nice bath, very clean, quiet, about a 10 minute walk to the old city, and very near to a bus stop if walking back uphill is too much ( one way or another you will walk uphill in Dubrovnik), they had a few parking places and the city parking garage was just a couple of doors from there place. They offer a very reasonable and very tasty breakfast, if weather permits on their terrace. When we return to Dubrovnik, we will plan to stay here.

This was a beautifully furnished room with a sunlight in the ensuite bathroom and windows looking out over the patio and onto the street. The bed was the comfiest we slept in during our trip. The owner of the house is a lovely lady, her breakfast was wonderful, and her service was great - even bringing us cookies to our room and our towels etc were replaced daily! The location is on a main street, but we barely heard the noise. The patio at the front of the house is a great place to relax with a book (or your laptop) and enjoy the sunny morning or afternoon. It is a little bit of a walk to the Old Town, but if you don't mind walking (which we don't!) then it's no big deal. Only took 10 mins to walk to Old Town, cable car, and 15 mins to casino... Great spot and I highly recommend!

Room Tip: Go for the large room at the front of the house.
