We visited Lokrum during an afternoon, got the 14:00 boat out and the 16:30 back. Without staying to eat, this was enough time to see most of lower parts of the island. Cost was 60 kuna from the boat in the Old Port. The ticket doubled up as a souvenir postcard. Did not have to pay any addtional charge on landing.
The island is a nature reserve and is a lush, green escape from the busy stone environment of Dubrovnik - pretty though would not say it was spectacular. There were many tame peacocks roaming free that seemed very keen to show their display feathers! Sights include a small formal garden, a botanical garden with cacti and prickly pear, a ruined monastery, an old but plain chapel and the Dead Sea swimming lake.
On all the main paths there are map boards at regular intervals. The distances on the map look greater than they are, most numbered points of interest are only about a minute from each other. There is a small rocky shore where we were able to dip our feet in the refreshing water. There are some steep, wooded paths up to the fort at the summit but we only ascended part of the way as it was hard-going.
I would say that this trip is worth doing, and the 10 minute boat ride itself is enjoyable too for the views back to town!
