I have travelled and stayed in hotels of all types- not that many but enough to knowvoutstanding from a waste of money. I found the Palaceto be number one of the places I stayed for sevice and ambience. Should I return to Dubronik this would be my only choice.

Room Tip: I think I requested a superior seafront room. It was worth the slight per night extra.

First time to Dubrovnik and this really is one of the jewels of Europe, we want to return ASAP. Hotel views are unrivaled, communal facilities and location close to 5* but rooms are 3* at best which is a shame but this did not ruin our holiday (long weekend) whatsoever - very good value and food and drink not overly expensive - fantastic breakfast especially if you can grab a seat on the terrace! Good free WIFI which is becoming ever increasingly important with the amount of gadgets we now take away. Biggest negative was that it was hard work getting a sun bed, did not seem to be enough and I'm sure some people were putting towels down in the middle of the night - it was peak season (first week of summer Holidays).

Room Tip: The higher floors for the views (and above the trees)

We booked the Dubrovnik Palace Hotel after reading other TripAdvisor reviews and were not disappointed. We stayed for 10 nights in a standard double room. I believe that all rooms come with sea view and the sunset in the evevning from your balcony is lovely.

Pool area is lovely - plenty of space for sunbeds over the various levels (although watch out because people do like to pop down and reserve their bed with a towel in the morning) so sometimes we had to go a little further to find space but never had a problem finding one. The pool has a swim up pool bar and a jacuzzi pool too which were nice touches.

The breakfast is very good - with plenty of choices to cater for all tastes. We also tried the indoor restaurant on the first floor (Messina I think it was called) which was very good, and the outdoor restaurant the other side of the pool which was good for a lunchtime pizza inbetween bouts of sunbathing. The food and drinks in the restaurant were good but a little more pricey than the other local restaurants / bars. Having said that there was a minibar fridge in the room so we went to the local supermarket and bought beer there and chilled it in our fridge - we got no complaints from the hotel for doing that.

The hotel is right at the end of the number 4 bus route which takes you straight to the edge of the old town about 2 ish km away for just £1.20 each person each way. They go every 15 mins and take 10-15 mins to do the journey. Well worth the money. We walked it once and it wasn't too far, but in the heat of the day it got a bit hot.

Alternative evening entertainment wise, you can go to the Gruz harbour which is a ~20 min walk, the old town which is a ~40 min walk (or above mentioned bus ride), or wander the ~10 mins down the hill to the restaurants there. I'd recommend the old town or harbour as food appears to be better there - see my other reviews for recommended restaurants.

We looked at the gym and spa facilities and they looked good but we didn't try them. Also useful to note that the hotel has free wifi and a safe in your room for iPad / laptop. Would definitely visit again.

Try booking via TriVaGo or Olotels - we got our room for ~1/2 price through Olotels.

Just had a fantastic week here. The rooms aren't huge, but certainly big enough with very generous storage space and a decent size balcony. A kettle and tea + coffee are available on request (it was offered as soon as they found out we were British!). Hotel staff are very polite and efficient with a dedicated guest relations desk and housekeeping were very helpful. The breakfast buffet had a great selection, but the other restaurants seemed more limited although we didn't try the evening buffet. Food and drink isn't cheap in the hotel, but probably as expected for a higher end hotel in a tourist area. It's a 10-15 min walk at a leisurely pace into Lapad beach which has a main strip with bars and restaurants and a further 10 minutes across to a harbour area with more places to eat. The bus into Dubrovnik old town is every 15 mins and a straightforward journey - you always get a seat on the way in as it's at the end of the line, but coming back was usually crowded and more of a battle.

Overall, this hotel is highly recommended. Although we there in high season, the communal areas are spacious enough to feel uncrowded. We didn't have a problem getting sunloungers or umbrellas although the ones in the 'best' areas were snapped up early on. Also plenty of beach towels were available. Booking for treatments at the spa was also easy, with good availability. Definitely a good combination of pool/sea/sun holiday with a nearby area for eating out and easy access to the cultural sights and buzz of Dubrovnik.

Room Tip: As others have said, email before going to ask for a room on the higher floors - we were on the 5th with a great view

This really is a bulk family hotel, the food was average, the rooms extremely poor.

The highlight was most definitely the massage from either therapist, I enjoyed both.

The ocean is spectacular and the old town is terrific, the port has great restaurants and a fantastic vibe at night, my tip.....go to Hvar!!!!
