There is nothing wrong with a tour of historic buildings or a visit to a museum, but with Dubrovnik becoming more and more popular in summer, one may find himself amidst 5000 other visitors downtown...
The Dubrovnik Palace is located on the peninsula of Lapad, and, though only 15 min from downtown, away from the tourist main stream.
My favourite hide out during the mid day hours is in the hotels pool restaurant, the Maslina Tavern. Also ideal for a light business lunch at around HRK 100 (EUR 15).

Lovely relaxing time, with attentive staff and 5 star food. Room beautiful, crisp linen and very quiet. Free internet a bonus. Wine was not great but who cares? Will definitely return and choose this hotel again

Room Tip: Just ask, all rooms seemed well placed with balconies

We stayed here for four nights in a Junior Suite, the room was amazing, lots of space, roof top terrace, two bathrooms and stunning view. Reception staff were nice if maybe at times a bit abrupt but were helpful in assisting us plan a day trip to Bosnia. Breakfast was not good, eggs were bad, sausages and bacon unpleasant and pancakes had been sitting out for a considerable amount of time but there was a good selection of fruit, breads and cakes. The pool was gorgeous, no problem getting seats and the restaurants in the hotel were also very good although the wait staff in the taverna at night time were a bit careless and inattentive considering the dining experience was supposed to be a bit more upmarket.

I know my review will not add anything new to previous reviews but I felt the need to write one after seeing the negative reviews on here. The location if the hotel is perfect, short bus tide from the old city which was ideal for visiting during the day, or easy to go and eat out to on the evening. Stayed with my boyfriend for a week at the beginning of July and honestly cannot fault any of the staff. All were very polite and helpful and answered any queries we had. The rooms, yes aren't up to usual 5 star size and facilities such as hair dryer and shower were a tad disappointing, but who goes on holiday to sit in the room anyways? Lovely view from balcony and cleanliness was too quality. Couldn't fault the maid service or cleanliness of the room and I'm a tad OCD/hotel inspector for checking cleanliness. Pool loungers not a problem as we didn't spend much time in pool although it was nice. Opted to swim in sea as its more refreshing so just left towels on the concrete platform and went hit a swim. Word of warning, currents very strong and sea Ricky do dont go in if a weak swimmer. Breakfast was s but of a let down, no proper sausages! But plenty of variety to choose something. Didn't eat in hotel except breakfast so can't comment on evening meals, as again me and my partner prefer not staying in a hote 24/7, so ate in lapad 6 nights, sharing fish platters are amazing! Easy to book excursions from the hotel, went on the 3 island trip which was a lovely day out. Only reason I'm giving this hotel a 4 is due to the shower needing to be updated, but all in all I would highly recommend this hotel for its stunning views and location, and high quality service in hotel. Can't wait to return!!
