Really nice hotel. 3star but more like a 4 star. Lovely pool. Spotlessly clean hotel. Breakfast/Dinner very good. We had booked B & B but for an extra 16 euro each we had dinner each night. Nice wine approx 20 euro per bottle. All in all, comfort at a very reasonable price.

We traveled with 2 children (8month and 10 years) loved the hotel and the near areas. Our rooms was family rooms (2 separate rooms) The hotel was comfortable and had air conditioning, which saved our days because there was very hot weather. The hotel have a great pool and is just a short (5 minute) walk from a nice stone beach - Copacobana Beach. Also the great beach is at the Presidential hotel witch is about 3 min walking from the Tirena hotel. Presidential hotel also have water sports. Tirena is also have a nice set of small stores right by the hotel for buying snacks and anything else you need. The hotel is about 10-15 minute a way from the Old Town by car. In Dubrnovik have two little problems. They don´t have in the restaurants baby seats so you infant have to sit in you carriage and there is lot´s i mean A LOT of stairs.

Tirena´s only problem was the soundproofing, it was not possible to sleep. So anyone with young children wanting a early night it could be a problem because you can hear every noise from the corridor. Also there are not water boiler or iron in the rooms.
The breakfast is very good and tasty.
We had a very good holiday and we recommend Tirena for all.
Otherwise enjoyed it.

We stayed in Hotel Tirena for a week (holiday booked through The Travel Department). Overall we were very impressed with the hotel - it is a good 3* standard with large airy reception area, plenty of seating in bar area and terrace outside, and the restaurant, though busy, was never over-crowded and we liked the fact that the tables were not allocated so you could sit wherever you wanted, and we enjoyed having breakfast outdoors some days. The food selection both for breakfast and dinner was very good - something for everyone - and the chef who cooked fried eggs and pancakes to order at breakfast was very efficient and friendly and we rarely had to wait more than about 5mins. I think it was the same chef who made the pizzas (amongst other things) in the evening - and our two teenage boys said they were very good indeed! We found a nice Croatian Merlot on the wine list (140 kunas - approx. 20euro). The Croatian beer - Pivo - is good too.
We had excellent rooms - interconnecting, with balconies and a seaview - on the 4th floor - basic enough, i.e. not luxurious in any way, but clean and functional and with plenty of storage, and the bathrooms were fine and very clean - though we did find occasionally that the water temperature in the showers changed very suddenly (which could be a bit dangerous). Also maybe they should invest in some new towels! There was a minibar which was handy for keeping our water chilled. Another small problem was that the air-conditioning was either not working properly or was set at too high a temperature as we found the rooms uncomfortably warm - but Reception didn't seem to be able/willing to do much about it - despite being asked a few times!
The hotel pool is lovely and we used it every day - but the teenagers were disappointed that the bar in the pool was not open (they had seen pictures of people sitting at it on the hotel website!). We were there early in the season and there was no pressure at all on sunloungers - plenty of space for all and the pool was pleasantly empty too. There is a baby pool for very young children and the main pool is all one depth so is pretty safe.
We didn't think much of Cava 'beach' and would recommend the Copacabana beach instead - about a 5-6 min. walk downhill from the hotel to get to it. it is quite small - and shingly so would recommend the cheap beach/swim shoes which can be bought locally. But the water was beautifully clear and (relatively) warm and we swam there every day. Sunloungers and parasols are 25 kunas each for the day and there is an ice cream kiosk and a bar/restaurant. The beach and surrounding area was very clean and litter-free (as was Dubrovnik also). You can hire kayaks and jet skis and pedalos from Copacabana beach too.
The local bus service between the Babin Kuk peninsula and Dubrovnik old town was great - regular and easy to use and the bus stop is just at the top of the driveway down to Hotel Tirena. You can buy your bus tickets in the little shop in the hotel foyer (10 kunas per trip - 12 kunas if you buy them on the bus). Dubrovnik itself is fab (great views when you walk the old city walls) but was jam-packed with tourists from the cruise ships, and can be very hot and humid within those city walls. It was lovely to spend half a day in the city and then return to the hotel mid-afternoon for a refreshing swim in the pool - or the sea. As a previous reviewer rightly said - you have the best of both worlds by staying in a resort area with easy public transport access to Dubrovnik.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the 3rd or 4th floor with balcony and sea-view (but be warned - there aren't ma...

We stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel has a great pool and is just a short (5 minute) walk from a nice stone beach - Copacobana Beach. There is also a nice set of small stores right by the hotel for buying snacks and anything else you need. The hotel is about 10-15 minute bus ride from the old town and the walls. The buses ran regularly and this location worked great to have a pool to relax at and then be a quick bus ride to the old town.

Went on package trip with family . the location was great. Only short bus ride to center of Dubrovnik. the food was good . Stayed half board and the dinnere menu was great . all self service.
The only problem was at night when there was music in the bar , it was not possible to sleep. The music finished at 11. So anyone with young children wanting a early night it could be a problem Otherwise enjoyed it .One more point the bus stop is close to hotel but a steep climb to get to it

The hotel is comfortable. The rooms are bigger than average. All is ok in the room.
The Breakfast is perfect. Best breakfast i've had in hotels. The reception is awful. You have to wait at least 5 minutes to get key when you back to hotel. Hotel is on Babin Kuk which is about 50 minutes walk distance to old city. But if you are tired to walk you have to use buses. Buses are terrible. No time table; you can wait either 5 minutes or 25. Always crowd ; dirt everywhere. It was real nightmare for us to go from hotel to city center or reverse.
So if you want just relax ; good air you can stay there. But if you want to discover Dubrovnik; you got to find nearer place.

So close to old city pile with number 6 bus. it cost only 10 kunas near 1.5 euros to go city with bus. It's 3 star but i think valamar tirena needs one more star. Nice rooms . Nice breakfast and dinner also. You can walk to the old city it takes 1 hour with beautiful sight seeing. There is lots of shops in case of you forget to buy gifts on the way your home at the hotel. Every night live music at the bar. Wifi - 3. floor with the sea view rooms are nice. Near to sea and has a very big pool but 9.th month is not good for swiming.
