We stayed here for 10 days. It was a lovely, clean hotel. Really easy to access the Old Town, via the number 6 bus and we loved the pool.

The only negative really was that one evening there was a big event going on outside the hotel, the music was really loud and went on very late. Apart from that there were no problems at all.

The service was great and we booked some trips through the desk.

Breakfast was nice although we only ate in the restaurant one night and didn't really feel like it was very good value for money.

We stayed here for 2 nights. It was a 30 minute journey from the airport which was really easy - about £25/30. Hotel room was really nice and clean. The pool was lively with plenty of sun loungers and lunch was also really good at the cafe. The girl on the hospitality desk was excellent and answered a lot of our queries on boats etc which we learnt are not as easy in Croatia! Excellent knowledge from here. You can take the 6 bus into the old town which runs every 10 minutes and stops at 2am so although this is a bit out of the old town it was really easy to access. Really pleased with this hotel!

We are a couple in their late twenties and I am sitting in the hotel on our last day as I write this. I booked the Tirena because of the good reviews on here and I wasn't disappointed. But the best parts about this hotel are the sister hotels situated very close by.
We stayed in room 358 of the Tirena and were expecting to have to ask to move (because of other reviews we had previously read) but were happy that we didn't need to. Free aircon and safe. The cleaner visits every day (unless you don't want her to), powerful shower, great balcony and the room stayed cool at all times. The only slight issues I would mention are the beds aren't the most comfortable - the mattresses were a bit hard/pillows too soft, and in the mornings the cleaners go up and down the corridors which echoes quite a bit - just take earplugs! These issues didn't ruin our holiday at all though.
We are usually beach people but unusually for us, we became fans of the pool this holiday - if you come out of the Tirena and turn right, follow the path through the park/woods and you get to the hotel Lacroma's pool. We loved it. Great beds and umbrellas, two pools and a cafe/bar.
We ate at the Lacroma and at the President hotel which is a bit further along.
Food has been OK here but to behonest we haven't had anything amazing that compares to some of the food in London!
My boyfriend proposed when we were in the city of Dubrovnik (get the number 6 bus at the top of the road, about £2.40 for two tickets, 10-15min ride) and so we decided to celebrate by hiring the presidential suite at the Lacroma. It was about £300 for a night but ABSOLUTELY worth it! I would recommend this highly if you want to do something a bit special!
The city of Dubrovnik itself is gorgeous, some parts even more stunning than Rome. Loads of restaurants and gift type shops.
Two beaches nearby the Tirena - Cava and Copacabana. These are very pebbly, hence us using the pool more.
You must visit Lapad, a few stops on the number 6 bus. It has a strip of bars, restaurants and a beach we spent a day at.
All in all we were really happy to visit here and loved every single day. If we were to return we might book into the Lacroma next door as it's stunning. But the Tirena provided us with what we wanted, the staff were helpful and friendly and the room was cleaned daily. Quite good value for money.
Thank you very much!

This is a nice hotel, about 15 minutes away by public bus number 6 from the old town. It's a very clean hotel. There is a good variety of buffet food for breakfast. Live music most nights in the bar. Pool area is very well kept. We stayed in room 338 which was a bit noisey with vehicles and voices as it is just to the right handside of reception.
Asked about an iron in reception and they told us it was "for safety reasons" they don't have them for the rooms,,,,,, but we could ask the cleaning lady to press our clothes. It just seemed like hassle so we didn't bother.
If u come up from the Tirena htl and turn right, go about 100m turn left and follow signs for "the More htl" turn right down steps at the end of them turn left and walk for about 1 kilometre there are also some nice resturants and bars. IThe street leads to the taxi rank. Actually the More resturant is lovely too it over looks the Adrianic.

Room Tip: Don't use rooms 338 or 339 or front facing rooms during peak season as there is alot of noise po...

Room size good, balconies have restricted view with trees in the way, nice pool, walking distance to beach, number 6 bus just 10 minutes to old city and frequent. buffet for breakfast is reasonable. The air conditioning cannot be adjusted in the room, it is set at 23 degrees which can make the room very warm.

Room Tip: high floor with balcony for a water view

Spent 2 weeks at the Tirena beginning of July. What a fabulous place, everything about our holiday was great. The location of the hotel was great within easy reach of Dubrovnik, such a beautiful city and within walking distance of a couple of nice pebbly beaches. The sea is so warm and crystal clear but remember beach shoes if you have less than hardy feet !!!! Anyway back to the hotel.....rooms spacious and cleaned every day to a high standard, with fresh towels and bed linen if you want it changed on a daily basis. Safe and mini bar but sadly no tea and coffee making facilities.Lovely, modern bathroom with complimentary toiletries. The beds were so comfortable with fabulous pillows !! Towels provided for use at the pool. The breakfast buffet was all you could ask for and more with so much choice. The evening dinner buffet was superb with a vast array of choice. Food cooked to order on the grill, fresh fish, meat, veg etc and as much as you want. The staff in the restaurant were very pleasant , polite and courteous. The swimming pool was very clean and did`nt get too busy, but we were out of school holidays !!! Overall a fab holiday. We enjoyed our first time in Croatia so much that we have already booked for next year, but trying Istria in the north. Hope its as good as Babin Kuk and the Tirena.

Hotel is located in Babin Kuk hotel zone of Dubrovnik, it is in middle of hotel complex called Valamar. close to hotel you can find variable shops, and beach is aprox 300m away.
Hotel rooms are spacious, clean and well equipped. since hotel is done in communist era, getting to the room can be a bit confusing for first couple of days until you get to know hotel corridors better :) Service is superb, breakfast and dinner are fantastic, food taste like restaurant food, and variety of food on open buffet is like 5* hotel. For sure i will recommend this hotel, and will chose it for my next trip.
