“Interesting Architecture and artwork”
Reviewed 1 November 2011

We found the large church at the end of the old city near the Ploce Gate. Its entrance is opposite the Rector’s Palace. This baroque cathedral from the late 1600’s is known as the Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary. Inside, we found several wonderful paintings and statues. There was a version of the “Assumption of Mary” by Titian near the altar.

Off to the side of the altar was the Cathedral Treasury where, for a fee, you could see several hundred religious relics including those of St. Blaise, the patron saint of the city..

“Closed in winter”
Reviewed 26 March 2011

We visited the cathedral, however there were no signs stating the location of the treasury. It looked like it might be at the far end of the cathedral, however as we walked towards it a lady appeared from another room and told us we couldn't go in there. Maybe it's only open in the tourist season.
