We found the large church at the end of the old city near the Ploce Gate. Its entrance is opposite the Rector’s Palace. This baroque cathedral from the late 1600’s is known as the Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary. Inside, we found several wonderful paintings and statues. There was a version of the “Assumption of Mary” by Titian near the altar.
Off to the side of the altar was the Cathedral Treasury where, for a fee, you could see several hundred religious relics including those of St. Blaise, the patron saint of the city..
