“I'm a little disappointed”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

Yes it is beautiful and the first 30 minutes it is breathtaking, but after that, it was only restaurants and expensive boutiques. It's a ''to do'' one time and I don't understand the purpose to go back. I definitely prefer visiting the walls of the Old Town

“Lovely place but very busy”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

The old town is stunning, lovely pedestrianized area with lovely restaurants, bars, shops, churches, and general old historical buildings.

The work carried out following the shell attacks in 1991 are almost invisible and I think to the untrained eye wouldn't be noticed at all.

The only downside is the how many people were there... arriving at midday the place was heaving, we decided to sit and have a couple of coffees at different places and let the crowd die down which it did and we enjoyed it once the day trips were gone around 4:00pm onwards.

wait until the evening as it looks better lit up once the sun had gone down!

“The old Town”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

Lovely old city with lots of interesting places to see. Just do not go when the cruise ships are in.
as there can be up to 10,000 people from them they come in two ships at a time usually Saturday and Sunday between 9am-4pm sometimes on a Monday as well. It is lovely in an evening to stroll around get a meal and a drink and people watch. Very pretty when the lights come on.

“Top city in Jadran”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

There is none, more comact, breathtaking downtown as Dubrovnik in Jadran and maybe the whole mediterranean. Enjoy it especially just before sunset. Great icecream ("sladoled" in Croatian) everywhere.

“Beware rogue restaurant prices!”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

We stopped for a drink in a little narrow side street in the Old town, a restaurant called Lagonda. My friend asked for a black coffee with just a splash of milk. When the bill came she had been charged 21 kuna for the coffee and 21 kuna for the milk! Whoever heard of paying the equivalent of £2.10 for a teaspoon of milk? When we questioned it the waiter shrugged and said 'well you are in the Old Town'! Also in most restaurants there is a charge for mayonnaise and ketchup. Before we got wise to this one restaurant charged us 15 kuna for a tablespoon of mayo - about £1.50!!
