If you are looking for a real luxurious hotel close to the city of Dubrovnik, your choice has to be Hilton. 100 Meters from the main entrance to the city, Hilton offers perfect location together with amenities like fitness studio, service, parking lot, nice breakfast und internacional restaurant among others. A plus is the nice view of the city if you stay in the upper rooms (3rd and higher), booking service for cars and delivery at the hotel (except on sundays). I was three days on Hilton and I would definitely come back. As a con I can say that the swimming pool is relatively small and inside. If you are coming from the airport, get the bus to the city (35 krones, approx. 5 Euros, aprox. 30 minutes drive). The bus stops 50 minutes from hotel, from the bus stop you will see the hotel up hill. If you prefer the taxi, it will cost you approx. 35 Euros. On the weekend I had to take the bus on the bus stop of the cable car, it is aprox. a 15 minute walk, with bags it could be not very practical. To rent a car it is much cheaper than in germany (I paid 35 Euros/day for a Ford Focus.

Room Tip: Get a front room, up the 3rd floor

Top location
Pay extra (through expedia for 1/3 off at the time we went) for the executive room with balcony and lounge access. Freshly made cakes from 3-6pm and canapes from 6pm. All drinks free simply help yourself...........................and we did!
Bus from airport 35kn (£4.50) takes you 50m from hotel (Taxi 280kn/£35).
On the way back either 2 buses or if carrying light luggage then a 15min walk to where the bus can be picked up at the base of the cable car (cos of the one way system)
Easy access to old town esp at night for relaxing evening stroll.
Porat restaurant within the hotel is prob worth the 35euro half board upgrade due to the quality of the food and service. However, somewhat lacking ambience/atmosphere with no good views and basically dining in the breakfast area!
We tried a different restaurant each night and our favourite was the recently opened Chlarissa (best value of the finer dining variety) Black ravioli stuffed with cuttlefish followed by sole with champagne, niiiice! Veggie wife also well catered!!! RHS as you go through the Pile gate!
The fact that a pizzeria should be number 1 on tripadvisor for Dubrovnik is a reflection on the varied quality and service available.
Our choice of the "tripadvisor top picks" was the tapas option "Lucin Kantun" and not just because of the free Croatian Grappa! The chocolate dessert should be tried prior to departure. Nishta was nice, friendly and atmospheric but the food although freshly made was more bistro fare.......pakora, burritos and delicately spiced!!
Do make full use of the friendly Hilton reception staff. They will pull out timetables for local ferries and give you lots of good advice regarding the local bus routes which are very easy to use and make restaurant recommendations if required.
With their assistance we took a 1a/1b bus to Cruz harbour then a local ferry around the islands including several hour stop at Lokrum where we went for a walk and a swim from the beach on the opposite side of the island.
We went to Dubrovnik for 1 weeks R and R and after staying at the Hilton we were extremely satisfied.
The only disappointment which I brought to the management's attention In no uncertain times was the inability to view the sunset! This can be remedied by a short bus trip (no. 4) to the Dubrovnik Palace sunset lounge which we managed on the last night. Sunset apart I can see no reason to substitute the Hilton Imperial with any other accommodation in the locale....................................assuming you have access to the exec lounge!!

Room Tip: Dine late. Canapes at 7.30 and the lounge is quiet

We spent 4 nights at the Hilton Imperial in an Executive Plus Room. It was worth having the Executive Room to gain access to the Executive Lounge. The staff in the Lounge were excellent. Wine, beer, soft drinks and basic snacks available all day. Canapes in the evening were OK but I have had better in other Hiltons. It was geat to pop into however after a morning sightseeing just to relax before heading off again.
Breakfasts were very good with a wide selection and some delicious breads. Coffee wasn't up to much however and service was patchy.
The room was't that big for an Executive Plus but had a balcony with good views including the sea. Th hotel is superbly located and that is one of the big advantages. It is literally 5 minutes from anywhere in the Old Town.
Dubrovnik itself is stunning and highly recommended. Beautiful main street, fascinating side streets and a very interesting and sad recent history.
Must dos are the Cable Car for the magnificent views and museum, wandering the streets, the City Walls and finding Buza, a small bar on the rocks near the Church of St Ignatius. I would highly recommend Dubrovnik for a city break but 4 nights is about right unless you are also heading off to the beaches.
Restaurants are OK if a bit pricey but I wouldn't personally head to Dubrovnik for gourmet cuisine.
All in all, a very enjoyable stay in an excellently located hotel with welcome access to the Executive Lounge.
As others have said, the lack of free wifi internet is crazy, it costs about 12 UK pounds for 24 hours access.

Room Tip: Upgrade to Executive Plus Room for Lounge access.

We decided to celebrate my sister's 50th birthday at Hilton Dubrovnik which turned out tan outstandingly well succeded holiday. All the staff were pleasant and efficient. I could not fault anyone and while I would not want to pick out one member of staff at the expense of the others, I feel I should mention Ms. Martina Vlajki who handled all the special needs around our "family-fiesta" at the hotel, including cake&champagne in the upgraded rooms. She is a most efficient lady who knows your wishes without uttering a word and whose help and advice was invaluable ! However, I must also mention, that I happen to find the best cake-delivery in town named Gaby (gabi@slasticarna.com) to enjoy a truly authentic dubrovacka chocolate-orange cake at this occasion. Finally, I would like to commend Lokanda Peskaria at the harbour -excellent and good value sea-food&great ambiente. The standard of care that they offer to their guest would be difficult to beat in town.

The hotel is a big 19th Century building, recently much and well restored. It is situated just 200m outside the main Pile gate to the old city. A bus stop for buses to the port/intercity bus station is outside the gate. The bus to the airport leaves about 15 minutes walk away. There is a business centre with a PC with internet access (but that costs seven times as much as an internet cafe in the town).

Reception was friendly and efficient, smiling helpful staff. There is a light and airy lounge/bar with English-language papers (Guardian, USA Today).

My room was pleasant, decent sized, well equipped. Desk, armchair, good lighting, minibar, tea and coffee, safe. TV with five English-language news channels, an English-language Japanese broadcaster and Fashion TV, but no English-language entertainment (pay films available). Several German channels. Thick curtains kept out all the sunlight. Reasonably effective air conditioning (ice machine in the corridor). Ironing board. I had the cheapest grade of room (no balcony and no sea or city view): my view was pleasant of trees in a park and old houses rising up a hillside.

Bright large bathroom. Good Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries. Large towels, bathrobe.

Breakfast was a magnificent spread: cereal, fruit, cheeses; eggs and pancakes cooked to order. A Japanese section too. The restaurant was at the level of a terrace, so light and airy, with tables outside in better weather. Friendly attentive staff. Indeed all the staff said hello when they passed you in the corridors.

I really liked my stay

The Hilton Imperial is conveniently located very close to the Pile Gate on the edge of Dubrovnik old town. The hotel is literally 2 minutes walk from the gate. The tourist information office as well as the local bus stop are all located here. A bus from the airport to this location costs about 35 kn (Croatian Kuna). A taxi costs about 210 kn.

The hotel itself has 4 floors above ground with two lower levels containing the restaurant, gym and fitness area, sauna and swimming pool. At the front of the hotel the rooms have a balcony, these are the executive rooms and have views over the Adriatic. One of my friends had an executive room. I had a standard guest room.

The executive room and the standard room are both the same size but the executive room has large patio windows, access to the balcony plus a few additional perks which are worth paying the extra for.

The standard room I stayed in was well appointed with a large king sized bed. There was plenty of storage space. Opposite the bed there was a large storage cabinet that contained the fully stocked minibar, a safety desposit box and additional storage. There was a desk area with chair. Another seperate comfortable chair. Facilities in the room included an Iron, ironing board and hairdryer. The bathroom had a marble suite, clean white bathroom furniture, a bath with overhead shower.

The one outstanding feature of this hotel are the high levels of service throughout. All staff are courteous and helpful. During my stay I had a problem with the safety deposit box and after a call to reception someone came to my room within 2 minutes to help me. The staff at reception also gave excellent advice about places to eat and places to visit.

The hotel restaurant is called the Porat restaurant. I only visited the restaurant for breakfast. The restaurant is bright and airy with large glass windows The breakfast buffet was excellent with a large selection of hot and cold breakfast items. Breakfast was included in the price I paid for my room. I'd say that the prices for lunch or evening meal at the restaurant are quite high when compared to the prices in surrounding restaurants.

I would also say that prices in general for any sundry items within the hotel are quite high. A 750ml bottled water in the hotel costs 36 kn and across the road in the local shop it costs about 7 kn for a 2 litre bottle. Parking in the hotel car park is also quite pricey. Of course, you can expect to pay a little bit more for a premium service of having good quality food delivered to your room or through access to the minibar but there are also other options available in the vacinity if you want them. It isn't a case that you are captive audience here.

Whilst staying at the hotel I was lucky enough to have access to the Executive Lounge which is located on the 4th floor. The lounge serves complimentary drinks and snacks and has it's own balcony. There is comfortable seating and a large screen television. There is also wireless Internet access in the lounge. Marijana who worked in the lounge was friendly and welcoming.

This hotel is an excellent hotel and I really enjoyed staying here. I don't get to stay in hotels like this very often, it was a treat. I would definately recommend this hotel. If you can, pay a little extra for the executive room.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about our Hotel.

I was pleased to read your kind comments about the friendliness of our Team members as well as the quality of our Breakfast Buffet. I have also taken note of your feedback with regards to our prices, but I am sure you do appreciate that prices of a 5 star Hotel are somehow different to those in the supermarket but can assure you, that our prices are in line with other 5 Star Hotels in Dubrovnik.

I am delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and would appreciate the opportunity welcoming you back to the Hilton Imperial Dubrovnik in the nearest future.

With kind regards

What an excellent hotel with simply the best service. My partner and I visited for a 4 day trip. We were lucky with the weather so managed plenty of sightseeing. The hotel was excellent and having the use of the Executive Liunge was an added bonus. Miss Paulo was like family at the end of the trip. So helpfuland most kind. Rooms were super comfortable and the breakfast one of the best I have had anywhere in the Hilton chain with attentive service. The only small criticism was the dinner. The quality was not great, the service was poor and for what it was I thought compared with what could be had outside it was expensive.
