“Fantastic Location”
Reviewed 7 September 2009

We stayed at the Hilton for 2 nights after a sailing trip from Split. It was a good sight to see a large room, spacious bed, and proper bathroom again.

Our friends got a standard room, but we were given an upgrade due to our Hilton membership - 327 was the room number. I highly recommend this room, as it's on the corner, with amazing views! It was a delux suite, with access to the Executive Lounge.

I definitely could not fault the room, especially the views! However, our friends who paid the same were a bit disappointed.

Location was great, just outside the main gate to the old town (I would recommend not to stay inside the Old Town as cars are not allowed in, it does get noisy at night, and the flooring is of slippery stone - also with so many alley ways, you can easily get lost).

Breakfast was standard - with hot and cold buffet selections of ham, cheese, scrambled eggs, fruits, bread and pastries. Also available was made to order poached eggs, hard boiled eggs, omelettes, pancakes, french toast, waffles, etc. Service is very good.

Unfortunately the fitness centre was being renovated, which also meant that the spa centre had to be either at the pool or in your own room. One of our friends tried a deep tissue massage and found it more like a relaxing massage. Toiletries were from Crabtree and Evelyn. The other downside was that the pool was indoor, and the roof could not be opened.

Overall, it is in a great location with a major bus station outside. The building is quite unique and really nice, unlike many other Hiltons.

The hotel was lovely with the service I would expect for a 5 star hotel and really friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was great (loved the pancakes!) just a shame you hear the busy road outside. Also shame that it's an indoor pool, but you can't have everything. Our room was spacious considering an extra bed had been brought in for 2 year old. We looked out over the entrance, so not a good view exactly but at least it wasn't a wall as another person has mentioned. It was very hot while we were there so I'm very glad that we didn't have to walk far at all to see the sights. The location for sight seeing really is ideal, but if you want a pool or to be near the sea you really need to be further from the old city.

The hotel is perfectly situated just outside the Pile gate. Our room was extremely comfortable and the food was excellent – we ate dinner here each night and very much enjoyed the homemade pasta and the beautiful tenderloin steaks. Croatian wine is still a bit of a mystery to us, but we found the list here very well selected. The staff were impeccable.

We would definitely return to the Hilton if we wanted to visit Dubrovnik again, but that is not likely as the town is now overfull of tourists in season and prices for food and drink are much higher than elsewhere in Croatia. A day is plenty for the sights of Dubrovnik town itself. A good option would be to stay in charming Cavtat and visit Dubrovnik for the day.

The Hilton is immediately outside the walled city but away from the noise of the crowds.
Our room was very comfortable and roomy with all expected amenities but with NO VIEW at all!!! There was a wall in front of the window. We paid 250€ per night for room 055. Be carefull!
On the other hand, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
The breakfasts were excellent: a superb selection of just about anything you could imagine,
It is a pity that there is no outdoor pool.

Just returned from 7 night stay in the Hilton. Had a wonderful time - the hotel could not be in a better position for the 'tourist' and has fantastic views. The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough. Shame that there isn't a sun deck with pool, but the indoor pool is lovely, and desperately needed after a day in the hot sun. We loved the tea time canapes!

My wife and I stayed at the Imperial Dubrovnik for our 1 year anniversary...The hotel is located just outside of the gates to the old town in a magnificently restored hotel...The common areas have all been restored to the highest level and the rooms are spacious and have all the modern amenities...The restaurant serves very good food that is quite affordable in comparison to the high end hotels in town...We stopped by to check out some of the restaurants around town and they generally seemed to have food at London/New York prices without the quality...Service is very professional and the staff is very friendly.

I have no complaints about the hotel although don't think I would stay there again for the following reasons:
1) there is no outdoor pool
2) there is really no view of the sea (which is gorgeous)
3) it feels relatively corporate

Our friends stayed at the Excelsior and, if we went back, we would stay there...Although it is not as polished, it has an outdoor pool, located right on the water and has an area where you can go swimming in the sea. Those things are important for us but if you are looking for a good base for sightseeing in a polished setting the the Imperial is a good choice.

It would be difficult to find a better location in Dubrovnik; the Hilton is immediately outside the walled city but away from the noise of the crowds. The hotel is what you would expect of this particular chain and our room was very comfortable and roomy with all expected amenities. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. When we could not find a corkscrew in our room and called the front desk to request one, they apparently misunderstood and thought we had cockroaches. They provided us with free drinks at the bar while discharging the housekeeping staff to our room, armed with cans of spray. We had been curious as to why the explanation for our lack of corkscrew had been the destruction of the facility during the war, but all became clear when the misunderstanding was discovered, and the staff, initially horrified by the thought of cockroaches, found the entire incident very amusing. As we booked with points, the value of this hotel was outstanding.
