“Perfect location, superb service and a very good breakfast”
Reviewed 11 April 2010

The hotel have a perfect location a few hundred meters from the entry of the Old City of Dubrovnik.

We´ve paid for an upgrade to an executive twin room and got a room on the top floor (4th floor) in the main building. The executive lounge are located on the top floor.

The room was quite large and had a terrace.

Included in the price was breakfast buffet and breakfast in the executive lounge.

The breakfast buffet was excellent. We had breakfast in the executive lounge the last day and it was good, but no hot food.

The serviced offered, especially in the executive lounge, were superb. I have stayed at other Hilton Hotels earlier (two in Prague and two in Budapest), but the service offered at Hilton Imperial are much better.

The lounge itself is quite small but have a balcony where you can enjoy your drink with a perfect view over the Old Town and the ocean. There is no problem bringing drinks from the lounge to your own room.

In the lounge they serve breakfast. After the breakfast they serve coffee & tea, wine & beer and soft drinks. From around 3 PM: sweets/cakes. From around 8 PM: hot food & full range of drinks.

A very nice touch was "Bajadera"-chocolates on the pillow each evening.

We were recommended the restaurant "Proto" in the Old Town by one of staff members in the executive lounge. The food was very good, but expensive.

All the people we talked to in the hotel and in the city were very polite and spoke english.

Transportation to/from airport:
- to hotel: used Atlas shuttle service: 35 kuna per person
- from hotel: used taxi: 250 kuna

Highly recommended:
- take a walk on the city walls (about 2 km). Price: 70 kuna. The views from the wall are beutiful.

What a lovely hotel. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The accommodations are sophisticated, modern and clean. Breakfasts in the Porat Restaurant are wonderful. They have an extensive buffet, which features all types of breakfast foods from healthy to heart attack! :)

I would highly recommend this hotel for it's roomy rooms, modern amenities and superior location.

HOW TO GET THERE:
We found it was easier to organize a car from Cilipi Airport to the Hilton. ALWAYS organize and agree on a price BEFORE you make the trip. We used Dubrovnik Transfers (Tomislav) at http://www.dubrovnik-transfers.com/ and found them to be very organized, on time and legit. The taxi ride is about 30 minutes with little to light traffic.

Our room was spacious and comfortable, the hotel staff were friendly and efficient, the swimming pool was a reasonable size, and the location excellent being but a very short walk to the main gate to the old city of Dubrovnik.

Arrived after a good flight with BA from Gatwick. Got the bus to hotel (out of terminal building and turn left, Atlas Bus - costs about £4 and stops 1 min from the hotel).
Hotel itself i in a superb position just minutes from the old town. Staff are couretous, rooms are large and spotless, bar is nice, as is gym and pool area. Breakfast was included and offered huge variety.
The problem for us was Dubrovnik was not what we expected. The hotel gave us a 'Winter Card' which offered discounts at various restaurants and attractions. The problem was so many places were closed for winter and the only things to do were walk around the old walls, visit the small aquarium and several museums. We didn't find many nice restaurants and there were so few people around (even locals) that everyhwere lacked atmosphere. We did enjoy Sky Bar which was about the most modern trendy place and cocktails were reasonable. I'm sure the area is nice in the summer when the beaches are open and you can get a boat to other small islands but avoid in the winter months unless you like ghost towns!

After the short transfer from the airport to the Old City using the Atlas bus, we were delighted to find that the dropping off point was right outside the Hilton. The hotel has been beautifully restored and the staff could not be more friendly or helpful. They even provided a free bottle of champagne to celebrate my Birthday, and umbrellas when the weather turned out to be rather wet. The breakfast is a feast and the afternoon 'cake buffet' is very reasonable at about £6 pp. Cannot comment on the dinner menu as we chose to eat out. The out of season rates on this hotel are very reasonable, we paid £200 pp for 3 nights including breakfast and BA flights. You do take a big risk with the weather at this time of year though, they do get a lot of rain! We have experienced a lot of hotels in different countries and this one is certainly amongst the best.

I staid in this hotel for 2 nights with a very demanding group, used for high quality service both in hotels and restaurants. The rooms in Hilton offer the superb confort and the terrace breakfast lounge was up to high Hilton's standards, as well as the breakfast itself. Most of the standard rooms have a balcony with the view. Location of the hotel is at the very gate entrance to the old city and this, plus the service, makes it more worth staying rather than in 5star resort hotel on the beach. What pleases me most is the staff, most kind and professional.
