“Good Basic Hotel”

We stayed in this hotel as part of the Exodus "Croatia Islands and Mountains" trip, we had an extra 4 nights there and were given a nice room with a balcony, it was clean and comfortable. The location was very good in the Lapad, plenty of restaurants and a lovely walk by the sea. It was a 40 minute walk from Dubrovnik Old City ( a very pleasant walk) There was also a bus near by which got you there in 10 minutes. This type of hotel is great if you do not intend spending a lot of time in it.

Room Tip: If you intend to stay for more than a couple of nights ask for a room with a balcony as they tend to...

We stayed here as part of the Dubrovnik and the Dalmatian Coast Exodus trip. The hotel was a big contrast to others we stayed in Trogir and Korcuna as it is in a very touristy area away from the old town, amongst many other hotels/restaurants/stalls selling boat trips etc. Initially I didn't like the location however soon got used to it. There is a beach nearby and if you walk along the headland you reach the "Cave Bar". It is easy to get to old town by public bus and the bus stop is a couple of minutes away. There is also a large supermarket next door. The hotel and rooms were perfectly adequate with free WIFI. It was pleasant to have a small balcony to sit on in the evening. The breakfast was adequate but limited in choice.

We stayed for three nights as part of a group cycling holiday. It was adequate - but based on reviews on Trip Advisor we upgraded our room and paid for a better room with a big balcony. It was definitely worth doing this - the room was spacious, light and airy with air conditioning. It was nice to sit outside early in the morning to drink my coffee (we took our own). Some others in our group had very small rooms with bunk beds!

The location is good - a nice walk to the small bay with (pebbly) beach, and easy to catch the bus to the old Town.

Room Tip: Worth paying more for a better room - with corner balcony

Located in Lapad which is tourist hotel area next to Dubrovnik. It takes about 10 mins to get to the old town by bus. Shingle beach & numerous eateries nearby.
Rooms are small & don't have curtains on the windows. The wooden shutters over the window are painted partly open. If you like sleeping in a room constantly bathed in light then you'll love it - however, if like me you need darkness in order to sleep then avoid. The windows don't close properly so you also get a lot of noise from outside to keep you awake if the XS light wasn't enough. Manager of hotel incredibly rude & unhelpful but ordinary reception staff friendly enough.
Breakfast poor with mouldy rotten fruit & stale bread.
Given the large number of hotels in the area In sure you could easily find somewhere better.
No wifi in room - only in public areas.

Loved the location, short walk from the beach and short drive to the old town. Rooms are a bit outdated but since we stayed for only two nights it was ok, we initially chose the hotel because of the parking space but we enjoyed the stay so we could recomment the hotel to others too for a few nights stay. The staff was very friendly. If you are spending more than a few nights in Dubrovnik then I would not recommend the hotel since the rooms were very small and when it comes to a longer visit it could start to feel a bit cloustrofobic :)

Located in Lapad district of Dubrovnik, Hotel Sumratin is a basic but decent budget hotel in Croatia’s most famous city. I stayed there for 3 nights in late September 2013 and chose this hotel based on relatively good reviews and low rates.
Location is an advantage and a point of criticism alike. While Lapad district is quite a refined and popular place, it’s in far distance of the historical city center. Walking time is about 40 minutes however there are public buses operating regularly. Still, there are enough things to keep tourists occupied in the hotel’s surroundings: numerous cozy cafes and restaurants on pedestrianized Kralja Zvonimira street (which is in front of the Sumratin), small beaches, some limited shopping facilities and an attractive park with walking paths. Walking time to the main bus station and harbour is about 20 minutes (so much less than from the old town).
While there is nothing really bad to say about the hotel itself, there are still some weak points: first of all, it needs a facelift: furniture is old and partly worn, some items as the TV in my room or the public computer in the lobby did not work properly, the façade has probably not been renovated for decades (in contrast to the neighbouring hotel under the same management). Furthermore, it’s necessary to ask for a room not facing the street as windows are not soundproof. There is a restaurant in front of the hotel where loud music is played untill midnight (despite the lack of guests). Those who feel tired after a long day of sightseeing and want to get to bed earlier will surely have problems falling asleep.
On the positive side, my room had a decent size for a budget hotet and was equipped with everything necessary. The room and the property in general were clean and even the old furniture had a specific character. Staff were service- orientated and friendly. Breakfast was above average for a 2 star hotel.
While I would search for a hotel closer to the old town when in Dubrovnik next time, I do not regret having stayed at the Sumratin. It has its strong and weak points but is an acceptable place to stay for a short period.

Room Tip: not facing Kralja Zvonimira street because of loud music

Stayed 3 nights on Exodus group holiday. Crowded tourist area away from old town was off-putting initially, but soon realised that this was a good location - 4 minutes walk from small pebble beach wih nice walks available e.g. along peninsula to the "Cave Bar" at the Hotel More; easy access to old town via frequent (crowded) public bus (no.6) in about 10 minutes. Double room had odd layout, but perfectly adequate; ensuite a bit small, but clean and functional; no view (above service area) but quiet.
Criticism: lack of fresh fruit at breakfast - in fact the same apples (beginning to rot) and oranges (dried up) appeared on all three days; one squidgy kiwi fruit was left on display for at least 2 days. Otherwise a typical continental breakfast with plenty to eat.

Room Tip: Try to get a garden view; some had Juliet balconies I think.
