“Great hotel and location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2011

Great location, a few minutes from the beach and an easy bus journey to Dubrovnik with a bus stop right next to the hotel. Surrounding area is nice with restaurants and bars a short walk away. Excellent, friendly service in the buffet restaurant with a good variety of food. Room had a nice balcony which got a lot of sun throughout most of the day. The hotel also has a nice indoor pool, which was very quiet - so my wife and I could enjoy it to ourselves on several occasions.

We stayed at Hotel Uvala for a week having booked a package holday with Thompson and have only good things to say about it. Clean, quiet, great staff, good facilities and the guests were mainly couples, there were no kids running around. I used the gym most days, had a 90 minute spa pedicure which was so relaxing, my husband had a massage. Our room was on the 4th floor and had a fantastic view over Lapad Bay. The food was buffet style, breakfast was good, lots of choice, dinner was nothing to wirte home about and we ate out 3 nights of 7. The Old Town is about 4km away, sometimes we would get the bus in, the bus stop is directly outside of the hotel and sometimes we walked for some exercise. We also did the Montenegro trip through Thompson which was excellent and very reasonable. This was our first visit to Croatia and we cant wait to go back!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view on the 4th floor

We arrived on the 14th July for our 10 day break...
Although stated as a 4* hotel I would rate a good 3* (by English standards)...This is one great place to stop though ratings aside...We were more than impressed with the staff...They were some of the friendliest, nice and most helpful of any hotel we have stayed in...Nothing was too much trouble, and if they didn't have the answer, then the answer was a phone call away...It's in a lovely position a little out of town...The local bus stops outside the hotel and if you wanted to travel further afield then I would highly recommend LEA travel for any tours...It's on "the strip" a short walk from the hotel...The hotel facilities are good with two very clean pools and a jacuzzi...I would also recommend using the spa facilities...I had the salt scrub and seaweed wrap...brilliant !!...We stayed H/B for the first time ever...The food was very varied with different choices every evening...Everything was very tasty and cooked just right...The beach is just across the road and very clean...Lots to do and see in the area we loved it...
We will be back...

Very friendly and helpful staff in clean and well located hotel but not 4 star as advertised. The staff went out of their way to make us comfortable and the room and communal areas were spotlessly clean. Pools (indoor and outdoor) were well kept but tables and chairs around the bar / pool area could do with an upgrade. Breakfasts were excellent but the dinners (we were on half borad with Thomson) were a bit repetetive and needed warming up, particularly when we chose to eat towards 8.30pm to 9pm (dinner starts at 7pm). Free wifi provided. Bus stop right outside which made the road noise loud at times, particularly when sitting by the pool. Great views from the pool terrace and spectacular sunsight. Thomson trips to Mostar and Montenegro really good but you need to get up early as both destinations are further then they look on the map. Overall, a good trip and a nice hotel.

Good location with lovely sea view from the balcony, its worth asking for a top floor room to get the best aspect & enjoy the spectacular sunsets. The hotel is modern, clean & the twin room with balcony spacious & well laid out. The staff were all well organised & friendly. There is a pleasant terrace pool & an adjoining health centre where the charges were very reasonable. A bus runs regularly from outside the hotel to the centre of Dubrovnik with tickets available from reception. We didn`t have any problems with traffic noise as the road only services a few hotels & does not have through traffic. Meals in the restaurant were buffet style, there was plenty of choice although the evening meals were rather bland, but after eating out a couple of nights in other restaurants I think it may be a general feature of Croatian cuisine. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay.

We stayed here June 2011 on a Thomson package. The room was quite small, but adequate. Air conditioned, mini bar and a large balcony with 2 chairs and a table. The hotel room, restaurant and all public areas were exceptionally clean. The staff helpfull and courteous. (especially in the restaurant) The location is around 20 minutes from the old town in Lapad bay. There are 3 busses an hour that always ran on time, even when sometimes very full! The hotel reception sells bus tickets which are cheaper (and quicker) than purchasing them on the bus. The hotel is not actually on the sea front, but it is only a short walk across the road and through the Hotel Vis opposite. Food was very good, with plenty of choice and variation. Although a vegetarian guest reported that the choice was limited for people wanting this diet. Overall a great place to stay, with nothing to raise concern about.

Room Tip: Watch for the wild tortoises in the natural park at the back of the hotel

Great hotel, magnificent view, friendly and helpful staff. Good connection to the Old Town by bus, bus stop directly in front of the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel!
