“Great place to stay, but a bit far from the old town”
Reviewed 9 April 2012

Stayed here for 3 nights, the room had a sea view (paid extra but not much) and was very comfortable. The room was also quite spacious, had a bath, and was very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was included and they had a good selection; cereal, sausages, bacon, eggs, toast, yogurt, fruit etc.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and attentive. We didn't use the spa facilities so can't comment on those. The only downside to the hotel is the location, it's about 20 minutes from the old town by bus (the bus stop is practically outside the hotel though), and there is really nowhere close if you want to pop out for a bite to eat or a coffee.
I would recommend this if you don't mind having to wait for buses / taxis or travelling a bit to get to where the action is.

Went there on a business trip, but the atmosphere was so homey that I'd like to go back. The hotel is not luxurious, but its gentle staff pushes it rather close to it. The rooms are not luxurious, but they are spacious enough, especially if you add the well designed enclosed balcony, the architecture of which makes it private enough to serve as an extension of the room. The spa centre is not luxurious, but it is so well equipped that luxury comes to mind while relaxing. The breakfast buffet is actually luxurious, with all kinds of food there... Not to forget, a nice beach is only across the street! And not to forget either: local bus to the city centre stops right in front of the hotel, on time, while bus tickets can be bought at the front desk. It takes about 10-15 minutes to the gorgeous town. Definitely a hotel to recommend.

Room Tip: The room is one with the view of the sea!

Traveled with my wife, the hotel is quite OK: good breakfast, receptionist gave us a LAN cable so we had free internet at all times right in our room. Currency exchange at the reception had amazingly good rate, also you can buy bus tickets there that is also very good. Nice inside pool and Jacuzzi, staff was quite friendly as well.

Some minor disadvantages:
- You need to use buses to go to old city or main bus station, too much time to walk (~40 mins)
- Some small noise from unknown device was coming from the technical floor under the room, so ask for 3rd floor or sea view)

We enjoyed our stay in this very clean and comfortable hotel. Bedroom was of adequate size with a very good bathroom.the balcony was good and we were able to keep the sliding doors open all night as it felt very
safe being on the second floor - we never tired of looking out at the wonderful view from here too.
The only thing we missed was being able to make a cuppa first thing after waking.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the service good. Breakfast was looked forward to each day as the variety of foods was excellent, coffee machine not so good but we were able to make a nice cup of tea.

Bus stop outside the hotel was very convenient and being able to buy tickets in reception helpful.

It took only minutes to walk down to the beaches and the beautiful, blue, warm sea

Would definitely return.

Room Tip: the higher floors with balcony and seaviews are preferable, but don't expect sun shining in.

Very enjoyable stay at the Uvala. Rooms and public areas clean and bright. Very helpful and friendly staff could not do enough for us. Food was very good with lots of choice and all buffet style. Only grumble would be the small outside pool area which did not catch much sun and was limited for sunbed space. The location of the hotel was lovely as you had easy access to Lapad promenade and peninsular. Bus stop outside hotel gave 15 minute ride to Dubrovnik old town for 10 Kuna (tickets on sale in hotel). Would recommend 4th floor front rooms for splendid views across the inlet.

Room Tip: Top floor sea view room worth a small supplement.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Uvala. We had a room at the front on the 4th floor with a good size balcony and view overlooking the bay, which was certainly worth the extra. The room and bathroom/shower were of a good size and standard, and were kept very clean. We enjoyed the food - dinner is a buffet with a wide selection of regional dishes, and while a few may not have been to our taste, there was such a wide choice that we could always select a very good meal and at €10 it was excellent value. Breakfast is a good buffet selection. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We used the indoor pool, which was not as warm as most hotel indoor pools but one adjusts once in the water. The outdoor pool was too cold for us to use. There is a bus outside the hotel every 20 minutes to the old town (15 minute journey) - we bought the 7-day Dubrovnik card, good value as it includes 20 bus trips and entry fees to many (but not all) attractions in Dubrovnik. We used the free wi-fi (on the ground floor) - to use the hotel's computer would not have been free.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front and top have the best view.
