It was my first visit to Dubrovnik. The hotel itself is absolutely fine. Rooms are reasonable in size, clean shower and brand new TV set. Wifi is working and is free. Some of the front facing rooms in center part have a small balcony which is a nice addition. Breakfast is fine and includes all the standards. Parking is available as well. Downside is the location if it is just a short visit. The famous old city is a 10 minutes bus r
ide away. Manageable how less convenient.

I agree with some of the other reviewers that you do, indeed, get what you pay for. Hotel Ivka is clean and sufficiently comfortable if you are merely looking for somewhere to lay your head and sleep. In other words, it is decent, but certainly not spectacular or luxurious. Given that hotels in general are very expensive in Dubrovnik, though, Hotel Ivka certainly met our needs and we saved some money by staying here.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is slightly outside the main Dubrovnik attractions. My boyfriend and I attempted to walk to the Old City from the hotel the first night we were there and got lost, so wound up taking the bus, which was actually quite easy and convenient. The public bus is cheap, picks up just a few blocks away from the hotel, stops right outside the old walled city, and runs at a reasonable frequency during the high season. Thus, if you are willing to take a short cheap ride on the public bus, location really isn't a problem.

The room itself sufficed, but was not exactly the most comfortable thing in the world. My boyfriend and I were given a room on the top floor (the fourth floor if memory serves me correctly), which was not ideal. The top floor appears to be a converted attic space and the ceilings in our room were heavily sloped. Both my boyfriend and I wound up smacking our heads on the ceilings multiple times during our stay, which was painful and irritating to say the least (and I am tiny-- just over 5 feet tall, to give you an idea). In addition, the elevator does not go all the way up to the top floor, so we had to take the elevator to the third floor and then walk up to the fourth floor with all of our luggage. So, if you do end up staying at Hotel Ivka, try to get a room on one of the lower floors.

In spite of all that, though, (and especially if you can get a room on one of the lower floors), Hotel Ivka is a good option if you are looking for a decent, reasonably priced option for your stay in Dubrovnik.

Room Tip: Do not take a room on the top floor if you can avoid it. The ceilings are sloped on the top floor and, consequently, it is very easy to hit your head. The elevators also do not go all the way up to the top floor.

We stayed here as part of a tour for 3 days and were not impressed with our first room. On our second stay we got a better room on the third floor. The service seemed to be better the second time around as well. My biggest issues with the hotel are the warm rooms (AC does not work that well) and the old Tito style of the hotel. Basically it needs an upgrade, but it is acceptable. It is also quite far from the walled city.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony, you will be much happier. The back rooms have no appeal.

I spent four nights in this hotel during the high tourist season. I can safely recommend it, since there are very few faults I found with it. The hotel does everything correctly, from the furniture of its spacious rooms, to the helpful service. The cleaning ladies even let me use thier clothes iron, along with the ironing board, free of charge, even though there is a laundry price list in every room. The breakfast is nice and varied: there are the usual eggs, cereals, spreads and bread, but there are also a few surprises like fresh fruit, cakes, salmon and anchovies included in the self-service buffet.

I have only a few very minor complaints: the double room bed actually consists of two joined single beds, which makes the middle hard and uncomfortable. Also, there are instructions for a room safe on the desk, but I couldn't find a safe anywhere in the room. And the hotel's biggest disadvantage -- it's right in the middle of the peninsula, and thus far enough both from the Old City and any beach (and the nearest beach isn't a very good one). If you don't have a car or don't want to brave the congested city roads, you'll have to rely either on the slow public transport or overpriced taxis. If you don't care about any of that, you'll have a great time at Hotel Ivka!

The Hotel Ivka is on the great place near the port in Dubrovnik and Lapad peninsula. Distance the old town and 20 mins walking Lapad peninsula less then 10 min. Breakfast at the hotel was a very nice. As we stayed 6 days we spend some time in Lapad and Old Town.
Lapad beach is 10 minutes walking.
