“Nice view”
Reviewed 6 May 2014 via mobile

The view is nice. There is no wi-fi in the rooms, only in the corridors. There was no fridge. However the host is wellcoming. Some of my friends had problems with hot water in their rooms. There are a lot of steps on the way to the beach but I think this is something natural for the area.

The parking is at the location. The owner welcomed us with a welcome drink. The apartment was amazing, almost new, very clean and comfortable. We had everything we needed. The bathroom was amazing, clean and bright. The kitchen was small but had everything we needed. We especially appreciated the gas stove and the big fridge.

Ignore the bad reviews. Prices here are very reasonable and the villa was clean, towels changed daily, plenty of storage space, great balcony review and quiet area.
The owners welcomed us with a drink on the first night, some lovely wine and brought us some maps and gave directions to the local bus stop which is 10 min walk away near the post offixe.
Common complaint I kept reading was the walk up the steps. We were okay as a fit young couple but could imagine in the heat of summer or if you are elderly it may be an issue or take some foreplanning to make sure youre out most the day.
Hospitality was good, owners were always around when we needed. Id recommend!

We stayed in one of the deluxe apartments on the top floor, with a lovely view over Lapad and the sea from the balcony. The apartment was spacious and well furnished, however it could have been cleaned a little better as we noticed a few spider webs and some dust under the furniture. We also noticed that about half of the lighbulbs in the light fittings were blown. The owner was very friendly and helpful and gave us a map and some advice about where things were situated, and her husband(?) was happy to call us a taxi on the last day as we were checking out. The area is nice and quiet and the bedroom was probably the darkest and quietest room we've ever slept in!

Don't underestimate the steps! As two fit young people, we thought we'd have no issues, but with a bag of shopping from the supermarket or after a whole day of walking around the Old Town they were pretty exhausting.

Owners exceptionally friendly. Offered free welcome drink on arrival and information about the surrounding area. Advised anything we need just to pop up to their house on top of villa. Stunning building. Beautiful apartment. Set high up in the hills so lots of stairs as most reviews indicate which are a bit tiring. Would still definitely return though. Great value for money. Owners arranged transport to and from airport for us and a trip to 3 islands which is a must! Lovely lovely place!!!

We were a little nervous about staying in Villa Boro having read some of the more recent reviews (we booked well in advance) but we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We stayed in an apartment. On arrival we were welcomed by the owner and given a glass of wine each. She gave us a map of the area, explained where to get the bus to the old town etc and said that she lived upstairs if we needed anything. The only thing that was a problem was that there was very little hot water (This was our only issue with the apartment). I mentioned this to the owner on the last day and she showed me the switch to heat the water. I wish I'd asked her sooner! Apart from that, the place was lovely and spotless. Just bring your own shower gel and shampoo as these are not provided.

I wouldn't recommend staying in Villa Boro unless you are quite fit though as there are 200 steps to climb up from the main street level where the buses and restaurants etc are located.

Villa Boro is in Lapad, about 5km from Dubrovnik Old Town, & on a hill overlooking the sea, & therefore there are steps to & from the bus stop. However, if you have a car this is a good place to stay. The villa has it's own private parking, & once you've mastered the local one way systems, it's easy to get around.
We had a room with a balcony with a great view overlooking the sea. The room is not big, but it was comfortable, & very clean. Good value at about 40 Euros a night. No breakfast is provided, but there was a fridge serving the 3 rooms so that we were able buy drinks & food for breakfast on our balcony.
I notice that a few reviews comment on the host being rude. We didn't find this to be the case. When we arrived she invited us into her apartment for coffee, & was always available to help with maps or directions. Her English isn't too good, & in this respect I think she finds it difficult to be too comunicative.
In conclusion. A good place to stay, at a reasonable price. Especially if you have your own transport.
