We had a great welcome to the hotel with the staff greeting us at the door and also offering you sweets and a refreshing towel.

We arrived an hour early and we were lucky that our room was ready for us. We splashed out on a superior room so had a balcony overlooking the sea, the pool and basically it was the view that you would want to see.

The food was great (though clearly pricey) and it is a 15 minute walk away from the old town which is nice.

If you're looking for a relaxing resort type of hotel where you can soak in the sun and enjoy anonymity in a hotel, this is the place to go to. Make sure you pay for the sea view though - it makes all worth it.

The only things to be aware of are that you cannot bring in any outside food or drinks into the hotel so expect to pay £4.50 for a 250ml of coke and whilst there are two computers in the lobby (which seemed to be readily available) there is no wifi in the rooms.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room on the floors 3 - 6.

Very nice, very modern hotel, and very clean also. I have read some bad advices of the hotel and I almost give up. Now we are glad that we spend very nice 10 days of our vacation right here in Rixos.
The breakfast was very good, rooms was spacious and cleaned daily with towel changes twice a day. The staff was very friendly and nice.

Room Tip: all superior rooms have a sea wiew

Loved almost everything about the place. Great room with a sea view, with an awesome balcony and spacious bathroom. Pool area is great as is the spa, most of which is free for guests. Breakfast buffet was one of the best I've seen anywhere in Europe. Buffet was good if somewhat overpriced for dinner. And great having the casino there.

A bit longer of a walk to the old city than they say - more like 30 minutes than 15 and not an easy one on a hot sticky day, but still a gorgeous path along the coast. and it would've been nice if the free wireless Internet worked in the rooms.

Definitely would stay here again. Worth the price and then some.

Room Tip: Sea view is worth the extra

Well, Dubrovnik Libertas amazed us with it's unusual architecture, first of all. The Check-in desk, as it appeared, was on the top floors, and in order to get to the rooms, you had to go down. We were very exhausted from our drive, so this small thing regarding order of floors was a nice thing to find out and we were ready for more surprises!
Room were beautiful with a view of the laguna and nice balcony with a sun chair.
Most pleasant thing was the turkish hammam/wet are that was not busy due to the low season so we enjoyed it to the max! :)
once again, due to the low season and winter, breakfast service was excellent and not busy, food variety great and everything tasted delicious.
i'm not sure if hotel laguna's beach is usable at all in summer but in winter it looked not very inviting.
alas, we did not go to the casino as we were very tired but it was good to know that it was there. location-wise hotel is in a perfect location, with only 10 min drive to the old castle, and we could have had a nice walk as well.
the only disappointment was the trouble with the ac, which, as i have found out later, is known to exist in the hotel. Our ac just did not work properly and the air in the room was stuffy, and in the middle of the night the bad smell came through and i could not sleep :(
other than that, everything was smooth and professional.

We stayed here for 9 nights at the start of july, on arrival staff were pleasant, we got there just after 2pm, our room was ready for us but our friends room was not and they had to wait over half an hour for theirs. Rooms were nice, good view although we were on the first floor im sure higher up would have better views.
Hotel itself was very modern large reception area and great bar and breakfast room. Breakfast was fantastic loads to choose from and very good quality. It was our first trip to the shops that things started to go wrong, a little supermarket just a minute away was really handy for suppplies, so we headed to buy water and some snacks to have in our room, only to be stopped at the main entrance by security men who would not let us in with it. Apparently they have a policy that no food or drink can be brought into the hotel, even for use in your own bedroom!!! We were so shocked after speaking with customer relations and a little guy posing as a manager, they took our water and crisps from us and basically said you can have it back when you check out!!! Water from the mini bar in the rooms costs £5 a go, we were told thats what we had to drink!! Not a great start! The whole situation made us feel like criminals not really what you expect on your holiday!!From then on we had to smuggle in water and snacks! Why if we decide to stay at a 5 star hotel should we also have to pay crazy money for water, surely that is our right to choose not to???
Location is fab and views are stunning, but i dont feel this is a 5 star hotel really, i have stayed in others and this comes in very much last. Dubrovnik palace and excelsior hotels both 5 star in dubrovnik are far better. It does have good points, but on the whole i wished we had picked somewhere else.

Rixos Libertas is an extremely well renovated building built at the site of an existing hotel. It's clean and has extremely helpful and friendly staff. The proximity to the sea and to town (20 minute walk) were positives. Given Rixos' claims to running many other luxury hotels around the world, I had high expectations, but there were a number of details that did not appeal to me:
1) the room was all white - not a hint of any other color; ok, this is a matter of personal taste, but it did not do anything for me;
2) the spacious balcony was nice, but I only used it to dry my swimsuits, so a bigger room and smaller balcony would have worked better for me; maybe other guests utilize the balcony more, but when you have the beach in front of you, why spend time in the balcony?;
3) the bathroom was not a separate room with a door, it was glassed in and did not have a door (the small commode area did have a glass door, fortunately). So, if you're staying with someone, you could not comfortably use the bathroom or take a shower without concern over waking up your roommate; granted, when people share a room, you assume a certain level of intimacy, whether it is your wife, your buddy, your sister or your girlfriend, but whoever you're with, in my mind, the bathroom should be the bastion of privacy, which it was not in this hotel;
4) mini bar guys noisily knocking on the door at 9 am was unacceptable.
5) the rocky swimming area was clean but overcrowded, with guests lined chock-a-block on their chez lounges. I was tipped by a hotel employee to try the beach in the next cove, which turned out to be the highlight of the visit. Go down the steps at the left of the Rixos building and continue down to the left until you see the cove with the pebble beach, the blue-green water, the local sunbathers with their little kids (with many strollers left unattended in the shade by the steps on the way down) and their portable beach umbrellas, the local boys cliff-diving or playing a game of water polo... This represented a local oasis 5 minutes from Rixos' impeccably run but so crowded and characterless swimming area.
6) please get rid of the jet-skis; they're noisy, dirty and dangerous; maybe 3-4 people use them, the rest are irritated.

Booked on Orbitz for $149. (750 Kuna) Worth every cent. Excellent swimming, free WiFi, free parking. Drinks and food on site are super pricey but swanky enough; drink in the casino if you wanna save cash. Will be back.
