“fantastic location”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

loved the hotel, views were spectacular. we had fireworks over the old town to watch also!. Pool area is fantastic and most times we could get loungers with no problem although a lot of people leave towels and disappear for several hours at a time - which is hardly fair to other guests. The staff were very friendly, couldn't do enough to help make the stay enjoyable. enjoyed the walk to/from the old town. We stayed with friends & were given rooms next to each other. Use the hotel transfer- driver had loads of useful tips for sightseeing and places to eat!

Room Tip: sea views are lovely

We stayed here for a week in July. It is a really nice hotel in a great setting however it's lacking a few touches of a 5 star hotel.

The check in was very efficient, we arrived early in the morning and our room was ready. Our room was a Deleux room on the 12th floor. The room was very spacious with a beautiful sea view. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of storage for our clothes and suitcases. There were a few problems in the room, the light in the corridor wouldn't switch off (after I said it to the reception, the light was disconnected so we weren't able to use it for the rest of the holiday) and the jacuzzi bath didn't work (the engineer came up to fix it however after using the bath it continued to switch on and off so the engineer was called again to turn it off). On a few occasions shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and toilet roll was not replaced, it was disappointing to have to call reception on a few occasions to ask for these items to be sent to our room (house keeping never answered the phone). There was no turn down service or complimentary water which are some of the touches i have seen in other 5star hotels I have stayed in.

Breakfast was very good, excellent selection of both hot and cold food. There is an option to sit outside in the terrace, the restaurant is located on the 10th floor. We did not eat in the restaurant at night, preferring to go to the old town or lapad.

The outside pool area is very nice, a good selection of sun loungers. The sun loungers go very early especially when non residents of the hotel were visiting. It would of been nice if there were padded cushions for the sun loungers (some had padded cushions but not all). The lunch area was very nice, staff were very good and efficient. The selection of food and drink was good but expensive as expected in a hotel. There is access to the sea as well. There is an indoor pool and spa area located beside the outside pool area, we didn't try any of these.

The bar area in the hotel is nice though drinks are expensive. There was a happy hour which was 25% off drinks after 11pm, no major incentive to stay for a drink in the hotel.

The hotel is about a 15 min walk into the old town, very nice walk (the art cafe is a good place to stop off on the walk in or out). If you walk the opposite direction to the old town it will bring you to lapad where food and drink is more reasonable compared to the old town.

Stayed at the Rixos with my wife for 3 nights in early July and we had a great stay. The room was great, although due to an issue with the air con we were moved, quickly and efficiently after the 1st night. We loved the hotel's location, about a 15 walk in to old town. We went to old town every evening and loved the scenery on the way out and found the walk refreshing on the way back after dinner. The pool area is great and we spent each day relaxing quite happily. The breakfast was good, lots of choice each morning but other than that we choose to eat in old town as we liked the alfresco dining options. Would definitely recommend.

We just got back from the most wonderful four day trip to Dubrovnik. The hotel was clean and spacious, the views stunning, the spa - fantastic, the sun beds luxurious but the best thing was the service, the staff, each and every one of them bent over backwards to make our stay memorable. I don't know how they knew it was my birthday (my passport details perhaps) but a lovely cake arrived in our room when we got back from the wedding we had gone over for. The breakfast was great, the food was of a high standard and we never felt that we were being over charged, a short walk into the old town, downhill all the way, and a £5 taxi ride back up. What a fantastic place, Dubrovnik is surely the pearl of the Adriatic and this hotel didn't let it down, Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Go for a sea view with a balcony, may cost a little more but wow so worth it

The Rixos property in Dubrovnik is ideally located overlooking crystal clear waters and a short 15 min walk to the famous Old Town. Don't expect perfection - we had a few power outages and some areas of the property could use a facelift - but the staff is pleasant and willing to go the extra mile to quickly resolve issues. The restaurants at the hotel are well run and improving under the watchful eye of the Culinary Director, Ozgur Donertas. You can't go wrong with any of the fresh seafood options and try not to miss the breakfast buffet before you head into town.

Room Tip: The rooms on the 11th floor are worth the extra $$

Dear Guest,
thank you for your review. I would like to inform you that power outages is related with a whole town but we managed to resolve that problem in the short period. I am glad to learn that you have had an overall good experience at our hotel and i hope that you will come back. Best regards.

We stayed at this hotel for 10 days in a Superior Room and would highly recommend it.
The room was large, comfortable and clean with a very spacious terrace and fabulous views over the bay. Housekeeping was excellent, daily changes and fresh provisions of very nice toiletries. The bed was huge and very comfortable and the pillows seemed to be varied between hard and soft so that you could choose the best to suit.
We were on the 6th floor which seemed to be just about the perfect level- the highest floors get noise from the restaurant and the views are not so good from much lower floors.
Breakfast was as good as everybody says in other reviews, everything you could possibly want was provided. I found it slightly strange that tea and coffee are not on tapped by are bought round by the waiter however if you ask they will bring you a fresh pot of tea. (We also asked for a kettle in our room and it was provided within 30 mins).
Every single member of staff was polite and helpful, I was particularly impressed that they never fail to greet you whenever they pass anywhere in the hotel. My compliments particularly to the teams in Reception, at Breakfast and in housekeeping.
The hotel is a 20 min walk into central Dubrovnik - a bit longer back as it includes a long hill. Most people don't discover it but if you walk a similar distance in the other direction you come to Lapad Bay where there are some lovely restaurants - it makes a nice change to the Town for an evening out.
We have no hesitation in recommending the hotel and would certainly stay there again!

Room Tip: If you can do go for the superior room with the full sea view. Try for a room between 5th and 8th f...

Stayed at the hotel for two weeks in June/July 2014. Fantastic hotel, staff extremely helpful, and great choice of food at breakfast and dinner. Lovely views from room on the third floor overlooking the Adriatic. Great indoor and outdoor pools, with plenty of beds, no need to get up at crack of dawn to put out your towels. Fifteen minute walk into the Old Town of Dubrovnik. Would recommend hotel to everyone.

Room Tip: Ask for room with sea view, you won't be disappointed.
