We paid for airport transfers organised by the hotel - he was there waiting when we arrived in a smart Mercedes, an easy 20-25 mins along the coast road to the hotel. Check in was easy and the first of our chats with the staff - exceptional English and very helpful / friendly. Breakfast was fine. Enjoyed the pool area. Our room had a harbour view, was a large suite and had a v large balcony. An easy 10 mins bus ride to the old town, or a 40 min walk not to be attempted when it's hot. There are some restaurants within close walking distance down by the new port, with the better ones round on the opposite side of the harbour facing the hotel. Main bus/coach station less than 10 mins walk. Definitely recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Our room was 22 - large room, suite area and balcony

My friend and I stayed here a couple if weeks ago and were very impressed. The rooms were clean, smart and cool! Important when it's 90 degrees outside! The staff were really lovely and helpful and friendly at all times. It is a short bus ride to the old town but again the staff will tell you everything you need to know as to his to get there, and how to get to the best beach! One night we went to watch the football but had to come back early due to me being stupid and getting heat stroke :( But they quickly put the football on in reception for my mate while I recovered in the room which was brilliant! A lovely hotel if you want somewhere clean, friendly and safe to stay :)

This hotel was a great base for our week in Dubrovnik. It is a short bus trip from the old town, but in honesty it was nice to be able to get away from the crowds. The breakfast that was included in our deal was a great start to the day and took us most of the way through to dinner. The staff were always genuinely friendly and full of helpful advice (in near perfect English). Pool was great and really needed when the weather is in the mid 30s. We had a little difficulty with the A/C in our room, which the hotel did as much as it could to sort out (and apologise for). Even so, it was still a five star stay, given the price we paid.

We arrived by bus at the nearby bus station at Gruz port. The hotel was 10 minutes walk from there. It's located on a bit of a busy road which is noisy if you have a room with a sea view. The rooms do have shutters and windows which keep the light out if required and keep the traffic noise to a minimum. The area is okay and away from the touristy old town area. You can get there by bus which can be caught at a bus stop 2 mins walk away. They come every 10 mins or so. Check in was fine and the rooms are spacious. You can tell the hotel is a few years old now, as there were a couple of simple DIY issues that needed tending to in the room i.e. the loo seat was a bit wobbly. We also had trouble getting the tv to work and only managed to do so after swopping some leads round at the back. We used the wifi which was a good freebie but did keep cutting out so we had to re-log on. The pool area is very nice and relaxing, but not very big so at busier times you may struggle to get a lounger. All in all I would say the hotel's okay. The best element is the friendliness of the staff. The worst the lack of general maintenance. If you prefer more luxury for a similar price I would suggest somewhere more like the Valamar Lacroma, which is by the beach, has more space, pools and bars.

My husband and I recently stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Berkely as our last stop on our trip through Croatia.

We couldn't have been more pleased with the hotel and the staff. I was slightly nervous about what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We were upgraded to a larger room and had a lovely one bedroom apartment. The hotel seems brand new and very well maintained. The room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. We enjoyed sitting out on our balcony as well. We had a little trouble getting the TV to work though- sounds funny, but seriously it was really hard to operate.

The staff is truly excellent. The breakfast included with the room is a small buffet spread and then with additional coffee and breakfast items that can be ordered off the menu. The staff was knowledgeable and provided great guidance in terms of exploring Dubrovnik. We locked ourselves out of the safe and they called the manager to come open it at 5 am as we were departing. They could not have been more helpful during our stay!!

The hotel is located about 1 block from the bus station which will take you right downtown to the main tourist section of Dubrovnik. We walked a couple of times and it took us about 45 minutes. By bus, it's only about 15 minutes and the bus is very affordable. There are restaurants in the area of the hotel and beaches, so we were please with the location.

We spent a week at the Berkeley at the start of June and from the start (being met at the airport with our complimentary transfer) the team were the most welcoming, friendly and helpful I've ever experienced. The hotel itself is lovely with clean, spacious rooms. We booked a studio room with a sea view which not only had an amazing view across the harbour but also had the added benefit of a small kitchen area and fridge - essential if the weather is as hot as it was when we were there! The hotel is situated in a quiet, safe residential area close to the harbour and is only a few minutes' walk away from the main market, a supermarket and the frequent buses which run to the Old City (although the walk to the Old City only takes around 30 minutes and offers some stunning views). We appreciated the team's recommendations for places to eat and tips for avoiding the crowds (quieter beaches, entering the City Walls from the gate furthest away from where the tour buses drop etc) and they also seemed very interested in our experiences of Dubrovnik and whether there were places we'd recommend to people (Lady Pi Pi, despite the slightly odd name, for example!). We were genuinely sad to leave at the end of the week as the atmosphere at the Berkeley is such a happy and welcoming one. Hopefully we'll be back before long possibly to act on the advice that Dubrovnik out of season is something well worth experiencing! Thank you again to all at the Berkeley who made the trip so fantastic.

Room Tip: Go for a studio or apartment with a sea view if you can.

We stayed for a 50th birthday with family ( June 3rd to 8th ) booked via Easyjet on the tripadvisor comments. WE were NOT dissapointed. Great hotel to stay in and explore the local area and food. The pool was a welcome sight when we returned from the old town. Being the General Manager of a 40 bedroom hotel I can say that the team ( not staff ) were fantastic , thats what you get for booking a small family run hotel not a big business with "staff" who don't care. The breakfast lady ( the gruff one) sorry are you all a picture of happyness in the morning I think not !!. She was helpful enquiring and provided local knowledge of things to do and places to go and was great with the younger ones , after breakfast guess what no going home she is off to clean rooms ( very hard work I can tell you ). The hotel is great for a break or holiday. Book tickets for the bus and link in with your visit to the old town as you get 10 trips on the bus so you can go back in the evening and see the town in the different light. I can say at no time did we feel that we were unsafe as per previous comments. WE would defo go back again and cannot thank the team enough for making the 50th memorable. Take up the offer of the hotel driver as it is a great way to arrive and is not that expensive , he is a realy nice helpful guy. We stayed in rooms 33 and 35 .

Room Tip: Take a studio or front facing room or those on the left hand side as you look at the hotel
