“small hotel HIGH quality”
Reviewed 11 May 2013

Stayed one week, and will remeber Dubrovnik with only pleasant memories.
Hotel is not large but standard is high. Staff is proffessional and they met us in a very friendly way. Lots of good suggestions when we asked advice, and they were really interested to hear about our day.
Location near the harbour was nice. Easy to find good restaurant for evening meals
(Nostromo, Empara and Otto serve good meals at pleasant prices).
The distance to Old Town were short and easy by bus (line 8 stops just outside, hotel) and we could walk the distance without getting lost.

We would like to come back.

Stayed at this delightful Hotel, and was very smitten with how good-natured all the staff were.Close to the Old Town,a 10 min bus ride away, and near the to Harbour and Port. Not 4 star, but really good value for money, booked through British Airways, and would stay again.Breakfast was cooked,a real plus, and there are tea and coffee making facilities in the room.Only downside was darkness of room, and lousy view, but that was our fault for booking the cheaper option.

This hotel is really very nice place to stay. It is located in the harbour, not in the old city. It takes 10-15 minutes to walk to old town, and there is bus station near the hotel. Staff is very polite and friendly, you can get all info you need from them, even buy bus tickets in hotel. Room I stayed in had very nice sea view. Varied brekfast is served. This hotel is great, with really low prices of stay.

This has to be a wee hidden gem - this family run hotel really should be 4star - it really is that good. The staff are wonderful, full of local knowledge and on hand to offer the best advice of where to dine, trips to do, things to see etc and all their advice was top class and we enjoyed every dining experience and all the advised trips. The bedrooms are fabulous with the bonus of a small kitchette with a fridge - just brillient. The free wifi was a bonus and by the end of three days I had mastered the code for logging in !! Beds are really comfortable and the area is really quiet - we heard no noises in the hotel or outside and the air conditioning is a massive bonus. The pool had just been opened when we stayed and to walk about for miles in the heat and come back and relax at the pool - just perfect. Breakfast - cant be faulted at all - hot and cold - you make your choice and its all cooked fresh there and then - superb. Although the hotel is nearby the port, it only takes a 15-20 minute walk into the old town but the bus service is excellent, efficient and inexpensive so you have a choice - if you are looking at a hotel for a short or long stay dont miss this one - you'll be disapointed if you do.

The simplicity of this small hotel is a just right. Everything you need is here and at a reasonable cost. The real strength lies with the hotel team who are knowledgeable about everywhere you might want to see and everything you might need. They even anticipate! For me, that showed true interest and care towards their guests. A bonus is the swimming pool, with towels and loungers provided. A great place to unwind after being out in the heat of the day. Underground parking is provided - a plus for car travellers. Bedrooms are a decent size; bed comfortable, extra pillows if required; clean shower room and effective shower. If you have longer or styled hair you will want your own hair dryer although the dryers are not too bad if hair is short. We didn't use the TV but it all seemed in place. Big benefit was free wi-fi in bedrooms. Only gripe is continual need to log on. But became a good memory teaser! The breakfast is adequate, if staying a while could become boring. But the lady in charge is marvellous at her job. She can suggest places to go not thought of, whilst serving up coffee with panache then shooing us out to enjoy the day should we linger.
Mustn't forget the effective air conditioning - so good during the night in bedroom.
Someone before complained this was not a 'boutique' hotel. By UK standards this is so. That is why I have decided it is 'bijou' - a small sparkly trinket. Valuable because it's size was just right, with staff providing the ideal level of personalised customer care.

Room Tip: The upper front levels have views over the port and all front rooms not noisy during night.

Just spent 2 nights at the Berkely Hotel, we chose it not only for low price but also for the good reviews on here and to be honest I was expecting cheap and cheerful. However from the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and the reception staff answered every question we had and gave us brilliant advise which made our short stay even more enjoyable.

The rooms were very well decorated especially the bathroom which was immaculate. Rooms also had free wifi which you have to ask reception for a code for, it can be slightly glitchy and you do need to keep reconnecting every so often but it done the job. The views from the room were over the side of the hotel rather than the front however you still get good views over the harbour and the the pool area below (unfortunately this wasn't open until May).

Breakfast in the morning was much better than expected and was also accompanied by the same excellent service that some hotels seem to be too busy to provide. You get eggs cooked to you liking and three cooked items plus a selection of cold items to make sure you have enough energy for the days walking ahead. Speaking of which we walked into the old town and back about 3 times and although its a nice walk it is a good idea to get a bus ticket from reception as once you get to the old town there is plenty more exploring to do including the fort which is accessed via cable car and has a great museum of the homeland war and a nice bar to soak up the views!

All in all a great choice and I would definitely go back here again.

Spent one night at this hotel while visiting Dubrovnik. As others have noted, staff is very friendly and helpful. Room and bathroom are very nice and very clean. Parking in garage below the hotel is convenient. I suppose though old town is technically within walking distance, taking the bus is the better way to go and the stop is nearby. Hotel sells bus tickets for 12 kn (15 kn if you buy on bus). Compared to other hotels on my trip, other than the made-to-order eggs that were good, rest of the breakfast (cold cuts, cheese, breads, etc.) weren't as good or various as other places I stayed. However, I wouldn't hesitate to choose the Berkeley Hotel again if I were to make a visit back to Dubrovnik.
