“Excellent 1wk stay at Villa Anica”

This was our first visit to Croatia and Villa Anica made a fantastic first impression.
I hadn't previously used the Flipkey booking service but it was a very fast and efficient method and also puts you in direct contact with the owners. The deposit was paid through Flipkey and the remainder on arrival.
We arrived at Villa Anica by car and it was very easy to find on our GPS. We were greeted by Mima who then presented a residential car park ticket which meant we could park at a nearby underground multistory - which was very useful because parking is at a premium in Dubrovnik.
The Villa itself is very special and was recently completely refurbished to a very high standard and was immaculately clean. The decor is very much to our taste and had a lovely 'boutique' feel with light walls and dark wood flooring. The Villa is an old traditional building with a lot of history having been built by the famous Croatian physicist and astronomer Ruder Boskovic.
We had the Deluxe room on the top floor of the property which was the larger of the three available bedrooms and provided beutiful views out towards the Adriatic and the old town.
Outside, there are a lot of outdoor sitting areas and garden areas to relax in, which again are perfectly maintained with lots of fruit trees, plants and herbs. Because the villa is lightly elevated there is a nice cool breeze - this was very welcome after an afternoon in the old town where the heat can be quite oppressive, even at night.
And finally, the location couldn't be more perfect. 5mins walk into old town and you arrive at the Pile Gate and only about 100 steps to walk up on the journey back.
But the best part of our stay at Villa Anica was the hosts; Srdan, Goran and particularly Mima looked after us from start to finish and provided great local insight into the best places to visit and great local restaurants. Mima took great pride in showing us around the garden and telling us about the history of the villa and the work they have done to restore. Nothing was too much trouble and they certainly made our stay at Villa Anica a real pleasure.
I would reccomend anyone staying in Dubrovnik to first check availability at Villa Anica.
