Overall, I adored the More... although with the way our stay started, you might not expect me to say that. On arriving at the hotel we were shown on to the terrace, with its beautiful view over Lapad bay, and offered a complementary drink... nothing too bad there, you may think. However, we were then welcomed by Nikolina (who was absolutely adorable throughout our stay) , but whose fearful expression foretold that bad news was afoot. Indeed... no room available for the first night of our stay! You can imagine our reaction! Fear not, she said, as an apartment was available not 500m from the hotel where we could stay for the first night. We could then come back to the hotel for the rest of the week. And to compensate us for the inconvenience she offered us an A la carte meal at the retaurant. So, packed into the hotel limousine, we were driven off to the apartment. On arrival, we found it to be located in a delightful old villa, in the centre of the resort, within its own grounds, and just a lovely 10 minute walk away from the hotel. It was so nice we stayed there the whole week!
As for the rest of the hotel: setting is delightful, beach and pool areas are small, but what can you expect when the hotel is set into a cliff face. The beach bar, which is in a cave under the hotel, has just opened, and is incredible with its stalactites and rock formations. Biggest drawback for us was the service ( I can vouch for the commentary of "Not 5 star" of June 20th, as we were sat just alongside them at the beach, when they were treated to service that even Manuel from Fawlty Towers would have struggled to emulate. Its not that the service is terrible (indeed there are some super people - Nikolina, as I already mentioned; one of the waiters at breakfast, who remembering that we drank Earl grey, brought us our tea each morning without even asking; and last but not least Madam L - I feel so guilty for forgetting her name - who looked after us so well and treated us like family at the apartment), no, its just that the service is inconsistent. So if the More can train ALL its staff to the standards that some of their employees showed, then it will truly merit its 5 stars. I'm dying to go back to find out if the've succeeded...

Arriving by by car was interesting. GPS was fairly useless in Dubrovnic and once I found the place there was no where to park at the hotel or on the road due to a conference being held there. The staff were pleasant and accommodating and did find me a spot after I was able to get there.
I'm sure I paid for the lowest rate room and the room itself was pretty small but acceptable. Lucked out and got a patio to the side of the room with partial water views.
The beach didn't have much space and not enough umbrellas. I could see on a crowded day not finding anywhere to sit. Rest of the hotel was nice.
Takes a walk and a bus to get to the old city, about 20 minutes.
All in all a good value.

We didn't actually stay at this hotel but went for an evening meal on a couple of recommendations and weren't disappointed. The service was excellent and attentive and the food was just fabulous - go just for the steak! It's not cheap, but then you get what you pay for. The restaurant had a lovely terrace overlooking the sea and I'd definitely recommend you give it a go.

My partner and I stayed at Hotel More in April 2011. We booked based on the reviews on TA and were not disappointed.

The location of the hotel is a little out of the main town (about 30 min walk or 10 min bus, which is very quick and easy to use) but there are a few good restaurant choices in the area so you will never be short of food. There is parking on the top of the hotel (its located on the side of a hill so you part at the top) but if they are full there is lots of free street parking

We got a “romantic room” package which ended up just being a flower and bottle of wine in the room (and the reception staff did not even know what was included in the romantic room package, bit strange). The room itself was lovely though, very comfortable bed, amazing bathroom and a balcony that looked right over the water. The views alone were worth staying here!!

Breakfast was actually really good. Lots of choices for hot and cold food and you can have your eggs cooked for you when you arrive. The balcony area is a great way to start the day (having your breakfast in the sun, overlooking the water was great).

The hotel offers a gym (very small and did not use), a pool and spa near the roof (AMAZING views from the spa / pool area). It also has free WiFi in the reception area if you have wireless device (iPad for example).

All in all I would highly recommend Hotel More, OK location, great rooms, really good breakfast, but most of all AMAZING views from the rooms / breakfast and pool areas!

If you want 5* service & breathtaking views you'll want More. A fantastic peaceful location overlooking the beautiful bay of Lapad with friendly helpful staff who are always smiling and saying 'Hello'. Yes it's a bit pricey & yes the Pool is small but when you've got your own bit of sea to swim in, WHO NEEDS A POOL??? When we checked in we were allocated a 'sea view' room as booked which actually turned out to be more of a tree view/wall view room. Within 2 minutes of speaking to reception we were then put on the 3rd floor directly overlooking the bay. No fuss, just a 'sorry' and an immediate resolution to the problem. Reception will book you a taxi if you want to go into Dubrovnik or you can stroll 15 mins & get the bus. The Old Town is truly something. Make sure you take a spare memory card because every 2 minutes you'll want to take another photo. Food wise, if you like fish try Lokanda Peskrija in the Old Town's Port it's amazing value for money.
I think some people need a little perspective. They seem to want to book a 5* hotel, pay 3* price and get 6* service. Ignore them and book this hotel.
We will definitely be back to soak up the sun, have a swim in the clear blue sea and thank the lovely staff for their service.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room on the 2,3 or 4th floor

Have been there 3 years ago. Noticed that quality has been consistently good. Perfect location, great view and a very nice secluded private beach, very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, yet very close to old town - only 5 km away

We stayed at the More for a week with friends, returning yesterday the 19th. We liked the hotel in general but the staff were not at all professional for 5 star level. We constantly had to chase for drinks whether in the bar or at the 'beach'. Some of the staff in the restaurant seemed that they had not been properly trained or had no real interest in the job they were doing. ' hot' coffee was alien to them! On one occasion at the 'beach' it took over an hour to complete our drinks order after the waiter forgot our order. We chased him and he then brought the wrong drinks twice. When he asked for our room number to bill us, we declined to pay because of the poor service, he accepted this.
The table at breakfast was not always completely laid and we had to request cutlery and the correct number of cups for the four of us. The waiters didn't seem to see the big picture. At 5 star level every simple detail like that should be covered, and the guests not to be constantly having to request items.
The 'man of the match' was Kristian in reception, he was very attentive and drove us to Dubrovnik daily. always courteous and on time.
All that said we had a lovely holiday at the More.
