I swear by TripAdvisor when I'm traveling, but it let me down this time... I hate writing bad recommendations, but wish I had read more before booking here.
Let's start with the good. We didn't meet Gordana until our second day there, and she quickly addressed some of the problems we had on the first day. She and her staff were helpful, hospitable, knowledgeable, and efficient.
However, their good service could not make up for the accommodations. I'll start by saying that I'm not picky when it comes to accommodations - so long as it's clean, safe, and relatively central, I'm happy. I suppose Most met 1.75 of those 3 criteria. It was centrally located and a quick walk to the city center. While all of Croatia felt very safe, Most is on the second or third floor of a large building that's very dark in the hallways. It never felt unsafe, but it was a bit unsettling. Which brings me to cleanliness. Yikes. We were provided with towels (a luxury for a hostel, I recognize) but they smelled! The bathroom wasn't clean (there were hairs in the shower and old products) and the (bunk)beds were lined with sleep sacks.
While we understood we were staying in a hostel, we figured that the en suite bathroom would provide sufficient privacy. The hostel was billed as a quiet lodging and "not a party hostel." Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. Even though the hostel only has a handful of rooms, we were interrupted with loud banging and noises from guests every hour on the hour. To further complicate things, our door was made of frosted glass - meaning that every time another guest entered the main hallway (whether that be at 3, 4, 5 am), our room illuminated with the hallway light.
Like anything else, your experience will be affected by expectations. If you're prepared for a true hostel, you'll probably be fine. But if you think this is anything but, please don't repeat our mistake!
