We have just spent the last week of June/ first week of July here on an AI basis. The second week was notably busier..............but better weather!
The hotel is SPOTLESS.......fabulous contemporary decor throughout. The rooms are well designed, the beds are wonderfully comfortable and rooms are extremely quiet - the quieter rooms are on the front of the hotel overlooking the marina. I would certainly ask for a room here if you have children as the evening entertainment is held outside underneath the sea view rooms and quite loud.
Fabulous shower. Hair dryer provided and complimentary Elemis toiletries and tea/ coffee. No de-caff in room or restaurant though....only available at the bar. Rooms were serviced daily.
I would recommend taking your own towel in addition to the one allocated towel card you receive on check in.
The buffet style restaurant is clean but I agree with previous reviews that drink orders can be frustratingly slow at times. The wine is just ok. The mojito's however are amazing! The food choice although good, can be repetitive after a week. Being a vegetarian I did struggle a few nights - regardless of the choice of salads!
The pool staff were EXCEPTIONAL and deserve a tip if you can - regardless of their unassuming nature! They could not do enough for you. Special mention to Ana and Ira who ran the bar and the pool boy Tommy - I have yet to meet harder working or lovelier people.
The pool is in my opinion too small for the capacity of the hotel and as such people struggle to get a lounger after 8am.
The hotel is situated on a large complex ( we didn't realise when we booked) and includes a much busier, noisier complex of apartments. A parade of boutiques with a handy supermarket open till 10pm is a short walk from reception.
We did not do any Thomson excursions but understand they are good. We went into Pula regularly - 10 mins bus ride with the last bus home at 11:09 pm. Pula is vibrant and a wonderful place to saunter around day or night. The amphitheatre is stunning and a must-see. Lots of bistro's situated around a main square for great people watching - very reasonable prices for food and drink.
There is a lovely bar located just behind the security gate ( screened by shrubs and trees) which is a nice change to the inoffensive ( but sometimes boring) entertained provided by the hotel. The sunsets here are incredible.
We would certainly recommend this hotel; and have enjoyed every minute. I would say it is most suited to couples, even though we took our 8 year old during term time I don't think it is aimed at families.
