After a week in Porec we traveled to Pula and the Park Plaza Hystria hotel.
This hotel is in a wonderful position on the coast ,with either sea or marina view from balconies.
The holiday was arranged for us by Prestige Holidays just tell them where you want to go and they organize it. We stayed half board, meals are buffet style with plenty of choice.
The hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful and the hotel and well kept gardens are all spotlessly clean
Sadly this hotel suffers from the usual problem with towels on sunbeds, all beds around the pool have towels on by 8am,none are occupied.
The only other fault we found was the evening entertainers performing in the dark, could not the terrace be lit at night
Minor complaints but we look forward to a return visit very soon.

Room Tip: Choose a seaside room for best views.

Although disappointed with Thompsons and our original booking there is nothing but nice things to say about this hotel and the staff that run it. Ira in the pool bar is particularly lovely and helpful.
The buffet food available is lovely and there is a large selection to choose from.
I would definately stay here again!

I am currently on holiday here with my friends having never visited Croatia before and we are very happy that we chose this hotel having booked through Thomson.

Plus points
- upgraded to sea view. Worth every penny as the view we have from room 313 is simply beautiful.
- no sunbed rush. Whilst the ones pool side get reserved early hours there are plenty available any time of the day in the gardens and up stairs on the terrace
- drinks are good quality and strong! Any supplemented drinks you can just sign to your room
- pool towels free and can be swapped for fresh ones whenever you like
- staff very friendly. Other reviews state service slow or biased to non AI customers but we found just by being polite and learning to say thank you in croatian (hvala) made them happy
- food. One of my friends is very fussy but the variety is huge so she always found something to eat. Very rare for her! Breakfast is superb with eggs cooked any way you want them!
- pool side service second to none. Tommy the pool boy friendly and the bar girls worked tirelessly serving you drinks from.your sunbed
- supermarket on verudela street (complexes high street so to speak) where you can pick up bottled water and other essentials
- venice. Booked this through ornela our holiday advisor. Trip was superb and so well organised. Gondola ride was a highlight! Excellent value for money
- spa. My friend booked an aromatherapy massage and said it was excellent and worth every kuna.

Not so plus points
- bars close early if you want to stay up later than 11
- three of us in a room and sofa bed was very low and uncomfortable
- dinner times are early compared to what we are used to
- bathing platforms are chargeable though on hotel complex - sunbeds and drinks you have to pay for here so we tended to stay poolside
- remote location means if you want to head out of a night time then this is a bus ride or taxi ride

overall we are having an amazing time and would recommend this hotel to anyone, particularly couples. Thank you park plaza histria for an excellent stay!

First of all my apologies to the hotel. Everything that the hotel offers is of a high quality, and yes I would come again. My problem is being with Thompson for selling a sub standard all inclusive package. Previous package deals by Thomson have included a much more.

We have just spent the last week of June/ first week of July here on an AI basis. The second week was notably busier..............but better weather!
The hotel is SPOTLESS.......fabulous contemporary decor throughout. The rooms are well designed, the beds are wonderfully comfortable and rooms are extremely quiet - the quieter rooms are on the front of the hotel overlooking the marina. I would certainly ask for a room here if you have children as the evening entertainment is held outside underneath the sea view rooms and quite loud.
Fabulous shower. Hair dryer provided and complimentary Elemis toiletries and tea/ coffee. No de-caff in room or restaurant though....only available at the bar. Rooms were serviced daily.
I would recommend taking your own towel in addition to the one allocated towel card you receive on check in.
The buffet style restaurant is clean but I agree with previous reviews that drink orders can be frustratingly slow at times. The wine is just ok. The mojito's however are amazing! The food choice although good, can be repetitive after a week. Being a vegetarian I did struggle a few nights - regardless of the choice of salads!
The pool staff were EXCEPTIONAL and deserve a tip if you can - regardless of their unassuming nature! They could not do enough for you. Special mention to Ana and Ira who ran the bar and the pool boy Tommy - I have yet to meet harder working or lovelier people.
The pool is in my opinion too small for the capacity of the hotel and as such people struggle to get a lounger after 8am.
The hotel is situated on a large complex ( we didn't realise when we booked) and includes a much busier, noisier complex of apartments. A parade of boutiques with a handy supermarket open till 10pm is a short walk from reception.
We did not do any Thomson excursions but understand they are good. We went into Pula regularly - 10 mins bus ride with the last bus home at 11:09 pm. Pula is vibrant and a wonderful place to saunter around day or night. The amphitheatre is stunning and a must-see. Lots of bistro's situated around a main square for great people watching - very reasonable prices for food and drink.
There is a lovely bar located just behind the security gate ( screened by shrubs and trees) which is a nice change to the inoffensive ( but sometimes boring) entertained provided by the hotel. The sunsets here are incredible.
We would certainly recommend this hotel; and have enjoyed every minute. I would say it is most suited to couples, even though we took our 8 year old during term time I don't think it is aimed at families.

Room Tip: Quieter rooms overlooking the marina on the front of the hotel - it can be noisy with a sea view wit...

The hotel is positioned beautifully on the peninsula, upon arrival we were able to upgrade our room to include an amazing sea view at a reasonable rate which I would recommend.

The hotel is modern and clean and it's decor rates amongst the best I have ever stayed in. Our room is spacious with a large tv (good to watch the World Cup) and a very modern bathroom.

The location is stunning and the sea is crystal clear, I have enjoyed swimming in it and have spent many happy hours sat on the surrounding fort walls. The Croatian Coast line has not disappointed.

The food has been good, sometimes very good and sometimes average. There is normally a good selection and certainly the quality is good.

My main problem has been with meal times though, getting served a drink has proved a nightmare, to the point where we have started bringing our own drink into the restaurant with us rather than be ignored by staff as they clear plates away. The chance of a second glass of wine with dinner is non existent and this is simply not good enough.

I think this is a real shame and lets an otherwise good hotel down badly.

I am here right now, and I must say the Thompson All Inclusive package is not worth the money. You are stuck in a 20 meter radius of the hotel fighting for sun beds and not getting the full all inclusiveness. The pool bar will serve a very limit drink and no food. Unless you pay. The hotel has in its grounds other outlets but you have to pay at these too, even for a sun bed. Hotel food is only at one buffet restaurant, and evening meals are between 7pm and 9pm by 8.30pm 80% of main meats gone and staff are also then taking food for themselves out back leaving very limit amount for guest who decide not to eat in the mad rush at 7pm.
The is no orange juice or cocktails for the all inclusive. But you do get orange squash.
Meanwhile paying customers get fresh orange juice.
I can go on.
If Thompson want to contact me to apologise for this service it will be most welcomed.
I will be getting in touch with Thompson when I get back, highlighting the problems and what I truly think the value of this holiday is worth. Somewhere between a b and b to full board.
