We are here at this hotel pondering what to do as the rain falls and the sky becomes greyer. Thank goodness for the lovely indoor pool to keep the children busy. We arrived on Saturday to an afternoon of thunder and torrential rain, this was followed by 2 lovely sun filled days, after a hectic morning trying to secure a sunbed the last two days have been lovely, the yacht club being the preferred place to spend the day as it is quieter than the hotel pool. Be warned, if you want a sunned near the pool you have to be prepared to Que. from 7.30 in the morning !! It has forecast rain for the next 2 days which is really disappointing but of course the hotel does not control the weather. Hotel rooms grounds and restaurants all immaculate and kept spotlessly clean. Staff all friendly and food is exceptional , it is just a real shame about the weather which you don't really expect in August.

Good location, but with inconvenient stairs for swimming in the sea. It is not a good chioce for those who cannot swim. A lot of free and pleasant places to enjoy very varied breakfast. One of the recommendation - do not choose the rooms with view on the main entrance. I lived in one of such rooms and I can call it as terrible staying. First of all, I would like to note that in the late night there were a lot of italians who were exetremely drunk and shouted in all throat, dancing accompined with loud music which was switched on maximum by the croatien taxi driver! It's unbelievable!!!
Seconly, on the beach there are a lot of italian with strange illness and red spots on their bodies. It was terrifing anyway! But for the staff of the hotel it was a normal thing, they did not pay any attention on them. Please be aware of it.

Just returned from a 7 night break with my partner and our 7 year old daughter.

The hotel itself is fine. Has clearly been refurbished recently. Our room was modern, cleaned daily, suitably sized and offered a nice view over the sea. Bed was comfy and no issues with noise late at night or early in the morning. We also liked the balcony albeit the ease of opening the door to it would have been a concern with a smaller child in tow. My partner also caught her finger painfully in the sliding wardrobe door, which could have been catastrophic with a child involved.

The indoor facilities are fine too. Indoor pool excellent but clearly woefully under-used given the weather, and lobby area impressive. Outdoors, the pool tiling needs a little attention as does the wooden decking in places, but more than passable.

The buffet food is good. Breakfast in particular. Plenty of choice albeit after 4-5 days it becomes tedious. That said, the presence of horse meat raised a British giggle on one evening.

So why do I say its average?

The bar service is pretty poor. Nice staff but clearly not enough of them.

The sun beds issue is a joke. Either get to the pool at 7.30am or forget it. I'm sure the management will claim they are 'looking into it'. They probably need to 'look' a bit harder.

This is massively not an 'All Inclusive' offer as previous holidays on this basis (all booked like this one, via Thomson) have led me to expect. There were no branded soft drinks, just vile tasting Coke and Sprite-like offers, and whether bottled water was included AI seemed to depend on whether you argued the toss or not. Also noticeable on multiple occasions that staff noticed the wristbands and deferred serving us in favor of other 'paying' customers, and basic things like ice cream etc. which are normally part of the AI package just weren't available. Upshot, I feel pretty badly mis-sold by Thomson.

I'm sure someone from the hotel will likely respond by referring to the "AI card" (i.e. the small print) on this point, but ultimately it is the hotel which will suffer as it seems this is a recurrent issue.

That aside, the views are lovely, the landscape great, the Thomson excursion we went on (with the tour guide Elvis who was great and totally caught our daughter's attention all day!) was good value and good fun. The evening entertainment was pleasant too. Unlike the British guest who looked like Jacqueline from Benidorm and gave us several bad looks for what I can only presume was the crime of having a chatty child with us.

Beyond that, while it was good to be able to play tennis, table tennis, mini-golf etc - the quality of those facilities was embarrassing - someone else on here described it as a run down Center Parcs - which is absolutely spot on - and the whole thing smacked of funding expansion of the complex, not maintenance. Also, plenty of dog dirt lying around for anyone who likes that sort of thing.

So all in all, a pleasant hotel in many ways, but don't get too excited about the immediate surroundings, and don't go AI - as you will leave feeling ripped off.

Spent a week here in late July, the hotel is as many have said excellent, big reception area, great selection of food in the buffet style dinning room, rooms are excellent and clean, beds comfy, TV, tea and coffee making facilities. One little mentioned fact is the activities organised by the hotel, we ventured on a trip to one of the local islands, and for 10 kuna return was great value. I found all the staff helpful and respectful. I would definitely recommend this hotel, as did the couple we made friends with during our stay. I stayed with my wife and 6y.o child.

I must admit I booked this holiday with great excitement as our big hurrah with a boyfriend. I often stay in nice hotels and to me this was oversized and had a number of facilities which is probably the only reason it was given such a good rating.

The staff are not hugely helpful and we found ourselves avoiding asking them any questions as anything seemed to be a hassle. This included arriving via our holiday group and having to wait 4 hours for our room with no apology and collecting our luggage to find a member of staff a sleep in the luggage room.

The hotel rooms were nice and clean and the towels are changed every day but this place is like a low grade centre parks. The shop, the restaurants...everything in striking distance is owned by the hotel and therefore costs you more (although still not a huge amount).

The site is also right next to all the apartments and all the other hotel areas linked to park plaza so the large hotel you see on the photo is only a tiny snippet of all the guests allowed on the complex.

We had a nice holiday but I would not return as I enjoy visiting the near by towns etc. It was not far by bus but still we found ourselves 'not bothering' towards the end of our holiday.

It was nice but certainly not worth the money. Be warned if you do opt for the jet 2 trips although they are enjoyable they have hidden expenses once your on the trip for transfers etc. your fairly stumped without them. For example; we went to venice the day cost us £60 each and once we arrived we paid nearly another £70 each for a transfer there by ferry and boat taxi back (all organised by the trip) although they do not tell you this until you are on the ferry there.

Do not bother with the aquarium its terrible. We made a number of jokes saying that it was basically the hotel menu swimming in tanks.

Definitely a family place not couple. I am normally not a negative reviewer but I hope this is both helpful and constructive.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review. We are pleased to hear that you found our hotel rooms nice and clean! On a more negative note, we are suprised and disapointed to read all of your remarks regarding our customer service; we consider our staff one of the main hotel's assets and constant compliments are a result of it.

In regards to your comments about the check-in procedure, the official time of it is 15:00h but all of our guests are given a room much before that time. Please take also in consideration the fact that in this period we are almost fully booked and the overall check-in procedure is linked with the check-out. We double checked your case and notice that we assign you a room few minutes after 14:00h. In relation to our staff, rest assured that we don't tollerate any type of unprofessional behaviour, therefore we'll investigate your comments about the inconvinience in the luggage room.
We would like to inform you also that most of the shops in Verudela Avenue and overall resort are not owned by our company and their prices are in line with the other shops in similar Croatian resorts.

That being said, we wish you all the best and look forward to welcome you in the future!

Kind Regards,
The Park Plaza Histria Management

My girlfriend and I stayed here for 7 nights and absolutely loved it!

Good things:

* The Pool. A lovely pool and bar and absolutely outstanding service from the team there which really made the stay for us. Ira, Ana, Jana and Jeanie, Thankyou! They also served good food at a reasonable price (50-70 Kuna).
* The Room. Spacious, well decorated with a balcony, coffee machine and a shower which fired water at you from all sorts of unexpected angles.
* The Hotel. It's amazing! Plush, beautiul and immaculately kept. Should be listed as a 5*.
* The gym. Had a Bench, Lat Pulldown, Tricep/Bicep Pulley machines, Barbells (with around 140kg of free weights), Dumbells up to 24kg. Also had 2 x Treadmills, a bike and a rower and some leg machines.
* The Indoor Pool. Amazing indoor pool that was practically deserted most of the time so you had it to yourself.
* The Breakfast Bar. Such a wide selection and the epitome of efficiency. Lots of eggs, bacon, meats, salads, fruit, pastry, pancakes etc. As soon as a plate was empty it was replaced. Impressive! Also had a few things that you wouldn't usually associate with breakfast such as cakes, pies etc.
* The Strawberry Mojito's. Yum.

Not so good things:

* A couple of the front desk staff were a little rude at times but since we only had to deal with them occasionally it was no big issue.
* There unfortunately isn't a good selection of restaurants in the resort itself. Both times we ate out at places next to the hotel we were disappointed.

Useful stuff to know:

* Located in a resort with a newsagent, supermarket, restaurants, laundry (you get a token costing 50 Kuna from the Newsagent - the front desk staff didn't know this). There's a little shop in the hotel too.
* Taxi's to Pula cost about 80-100 Kuna each way.
* There is a bus stop a 5-10 minute walk away from the hotel with buses every 15 mins or so.
* We tried to book a spa treatment on our last day but they were fully booked. Best to do this at the start of your stay!
* The nearby Ice Cream Bar is fantastic.

Overall we had an absolutely amazing holiday here and would go back in a heartbeat.

Spent one week here with family in July. Hotel is set in a little resort type area with rocky beaches only 20mins or so from the local airport. Hotel itself is modern , clean and well fitted out inside. Staff in general were very good and helpful. Various different entertainment items around on different nights if you wanted to stay in hotel area but with town of Pula only 10mins/10Euroish away by taxi that would be a mistake not to get out most nights to the town. Pula town is interesting and picturesque with an obvious heavy Italian influence both in relatively recent times, and all the way back to the Romans, with a very impressive Colosseum in the middle of the town. Back to the hotel. Kids club, although smaller than some other ones we have visited had absolutely outstanding young staff , with a variety of activities to suit most kids I would think. Hotel restaurants were good, and reasonable value (we were on B&B) on the few occasions we used them other than breakfast. Breakfast has a good selection - like anywhere can get a little busy at times, but plenty of staff around to help. There are a few shops near the hotel in the area where the associated apartments are located - these apartments are not picturesque. Area where kids pool is located gets very busy very quickly. Basically if you are not down there for it opening at 0900 (I think) then you are not getting a spot beside the kids pool, and much later than that there are unlikely to be any spots at the larger pool either during peak season - which left several people very frustrated - we were fortunate in managing to get a spot each day we wanted to. One more reason I did not give full 5 stars was that the lobby bar seemed to struggle each evening with coping with serving guests in the lobby area - nothing disastrous just a little frustrating. Good mix of nationalities with no dominant national group leading to good atmosphere around the public areas. Weather was great, location is great , people are lovely, hotel is very well run - I could see the manager doing the rounds of the hotel and surrounding area each day.Very happy we chose to go to Pula and that we chose the Park Plaza Histria.
