Kotli is a nice little place to visit when you're in the neighbourhood (e.g. visiting Hum).

Maybe we were lucky, but when we visited Kotli, the Mirna river was loaded with water. The place also offered nice swimming opportunity, and we even climbed all the way down the waterfall to the lowest point.

Kotli village itself is a very small hamlet. Only a few people (max 5) living there. And some tourists, due to the holiday houses (nicely restored old houses). The restaurant near the river is nicely located and basic.

We visited Kotli on the 23rd September, the river was dry and the restaurant up for sale but the village seemed to be have a few holiday apartments to rent. The caretakers let us have a look round - very nice - and also gave us some samples then sold us a bottle of the local firewater - good job we had our own driver for the day!

There appears to be some sort of construction work underway at Kotli. Consequently we were unable to reach the mill and the Mirna was apparently dry. The village also seems largely uninhabited.. Not much to see here.

kotli is not so easy to find, because it is located in the middle of nowhere, but when we finally arrived there it was like a jump back into the past for maybe 150 years. the majority of the buildings are disintegrate and overgrown with creepers. there is a small restaurant, which we didn´t tried and the people who live there sell typical souveniers of the region like olive oil, flavoured grappa and truffle-products. the watermill itself is a little bit distant from the rest of the buildings. the mill operates no more and the time destroyes this enchanted place more and more.
for romantic freaks a must!
