“A very nice place to stay in Lviv”
Reviewed 1 October 2012

I found this hotel on Google and was happy with my choice . It is located in a very green safe area not far from the center . It is surrounded by trees , flowers and you can eat outside when the weather is nice . Breakfast is included and the meal was good .
The rooms are very clean and comfortable . Service was excellent . Desk managers are very friendly , receptive and responsive , all speak English .
If I come to Lviv again I woud definitely stay there again .

We came back again, after staying the Lion's Castle the first time a year ago. It's a very well run place. We had a standard double which was very spacious, good flat screen TV with plenty of channels in all languages, wardrobe for clothes, modern, very clean bath room, nice arm chair and desk. Bed was adequately comfortable. Breakfast included and you can have it outside in their private garden or in a well appointed breakfast room. Breakfast includes breads and butter and cheese, some ham, choice of fruit juice or compote, a hot dish featuring porridge or eggs cooked in various ways, coffee or cappuchino and a sweet cake for "dessert." Our room was about $90 a night including breakfast. Located 10 minute drive from old town centre, or about 30 minute walk.

Stayed at this hotel last summer and loved it! Very charming old villa with an annexe that looks a bit Alpine in design. Rooms large and spotless, dated in a very charming way. Breakfast is nice and in good weather you can eat outside as we did. The hotel is in a lovely leafy, quiet street about 15 mins walk from the centre of town. Lviv itself is as nice a city as you will find, cheap too. Some great bars and restaurants if you get down the back streets. Loved it!!

Room Tip: I stayed in the annex and the room was large with a balcony

A solid comfortable hotel in a very nice area just outside the centre but still possible to walk into the lovely city, about half an hour.
Very nice garden with outdoor eating.
Very quiet and peaceful.
Food OK we had one excellent meal and then one very poor meal.

Lion's Castle is located in a quiet green leafy residential street, some 20-25 minutes walk from the center of old town Lviv. It is a small hotel, only 14 rooms. The front desk staff are very friendly and checking in was effortless and within seconds. Our room (a semi suite for $100 a night/room after 20% discount) was very large, clean, and bright. I would call the decor "old central European style" Functional but not modern furniture. The beds were OK, with twin duvets as blankets. Not luxurious beds by an imagination, but we slept well. The bathroom was clean and functional, nothing to write home about. Breakfast is included, including your choice of a hot item (eggs made as you like them, sausage, etc. or crepes). OK, but again, nothing to write home about. Coffee is good, as a previous review mentioned, but watch out, if you ask for a second cup, they'll charge you $1!

Overall, for a weekend stay, not a bad place to stay.

The hotel is located in a villa built in the beginning of the 20th century & really looks like a small castle. The rooms are huge with big windows, high ceilings, large bathrooms & have a retro look. By retro I mean only the decor - the pieces of furniture and the rooms themselves are well-maintained and new. In fact the hotel doesn't look Eastern European at all, on contrary it gives you a feeling of a little palace indeed. There's a fridge, a TV set & a phone in the room. The bed was comfy & the bathroom great. All the necessary bathroom amenities & bottles of drinking water were provided daily. There's a free Wi-Fi in the room either. Breakfasts were good, though nothing special. Yet coffee was excellent I must admit. Having a cup of coffee on the terrace was very enjoyable. The terrace is located in the beautiful courtyard with pine trees and flowers. The staff was very friendly & helpful, check-in and check-out was very easy and fast. The hotel is located in the very quite and prestigious neighborhood. The center of the city is within 15 minutes walking distance. I liked the hotel a lot - especially it's authentic atmosphere, it's amazing courtyard & it's serenity. I would stay there no doubt with great pleasure again. Though I must admit there are some minor drawbacks regarding the hotel. Since the hotel is a stone building it is very cold in the room, just like it should be in the real castle I suppose. There's a portable radiator in the room, but given the size of the room, it is not much help. So I think a more upgraded heating system would be very relevant here. I also feel that having more facilities in the room such as a coffee-maker, a safebox and an iron with ironing board would have been great.

We LOVED this place! We got room #1 in the Castle, which was gorgeous old mansion. Room huge, great new bed, new bathroom (though something retro about the whole room). Lots of extra blankets, feather pillows, towels. Fabulous breakfast in lovely restaurant. Very kind staff who spoke English--totally different than our experiences with people in other parts of Ukraine. Uphill 1 mile+ walk from train station and town but beautiful neighborhoods.
