The beauty of the Wine Rooms is their location in the cente of the wonderful old town of Kotor. From this excellent accommodation you can explore the narrow streets of the Old Town. The rooms are well equipped and the beds extremely comfortable. In fact there is everything you require from this small and well positioned accommodation. Breakfast is taken on a terrace overlooking the Old Town and the staff without exception were helful and efficient. Eating out is extremely good value and we loved the fact that we could walk to lots of different restaurants and bars in the evening. Suggestion for a special meal would be the Galion Restaurant, positioned on the water front.

Try this hotel..it is fantastic and a real hidden gem. Kotor Bay in Montenegro is a Unesco Heritage site and nestled in the old town is a charming boutique hotel called the Kotor Wine Rooms. The hotel is only 20 minutes from Tivet airport which is a real plus as they fly from Gatwick. My room was stylishly decorated with crisp white linens and towels, large bed, plasma TV, internet, small kitchenette ( I like to buy water and wine to have in the room) and lovely views of the Old town. The staff were very helpful and on their recommendation I received the best pedicure from a local women right outside the old town. The breakfast area was served on a lovely terrace with views of the old town and had very good coffee which a pre requisite for me.

Odd numbered rooms face the street and a sometimes noisy bar but they have to stop music at 1.00 am by law. Even numbers face the back alley but have a better internal layout. Room 21 has a balcony. Room 32 is a split level 2 bed apartment. Room 31 has good views but you have to step over the toilet to get to the shower! There is a small electric hob & fridge but no pans. Kettle provided a/c, wi fi & safe included. HD Tv if you bring a compatible player. Only BBC world, Sky news & CNN in English. Ivana the receptionist is a gem. Breakfast is at the Monte Cristo hotel. If you want fresh bread or cooked eggs and tea instead of the black coffee just ask. They will oblige. Giordano round the corner best value food. Evergreen bar (no food) for laid back music and cheap local beer.

I would not recommend this accommodation to anyone even though 3 of the previous 4 reviewers love it here. The bathroom was so tiny in our room you had to sit "side saddle". I agree with the Stephen W review. My main problem with this accommodation though is the partying that we were subjected to from the Wine Tasting room below on nights 1 and 3 of our stay until the early hours of the morning. The music was so loud that it was impossible to get to sleep. We were on the first floor so if you do intend to stay here make sure you avoid these rooms. Receptionist was lovely and Kotor is a wonderful place to stay with plenty of good restaurants and cafe bars. Easy to get cheap local buses to various places and all in all a fabulous holiday except for accommodation.

We can't agree with the last reviewer, as we had a very positive experience at the
Wine rooms. The rooms are very new, and beautifully fitted and equipped. Each room has its own little kitchenette, with a two ring hob, fridge, crockery, cutlery, and cooking utensils, and sink. Each room also has its own full computer, free Wifi, and satellite television! Plenty of storage space for clothes etcetera. Bed very comfortable.

We have been here 5 days as I write, and yes you do need the lights on - but this has as much to do with the design of the town, as with the hotel itself. It's a lovely walled ancient city, and the streets are alley ways, very narrow, with tall houses on either side - the rooms will be dark! However, my husband has just counted the lights in our room!!! There are 23, including the ceiling spotlights! Also, this hotel has more socket outlets than we've seen in any hotel.

The bathroom is probably the smallest we've ever seen, and we have seen some small ones! But you get used to it, and it works.

The air conditioning is efficient and quiet - the very frequent church bells from several churches might mean you'd like to shut the windows when trying to sleep!

The receptionist at The Wine Rooms is very pleasant and helpful.

I can't dispute the breakfast review of the previous reviewer, but there is plenty to eat and you can ignore the staff in that establishment if you don't like their attitude. Yesterday we ate breakfast elsewhere, £12 for two people.

Kotor is really lovely, but we also used the excellent public transport (buses) to go to several of the surrounding towns too - very cheap fares too.

And although we were slightly apprehensive about our flight here with Montenegro airlines in a Fokker, it was most enjoyable! Pick-up at the airport and transfer to the hotel from Tivat was smooth - only a ten minute drive, then met at the entrance to the city walls by the hotel receptionist, for the 3 minute walk to the hotel - Kotor is completely traffic free.

Altogether a great short break.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front have a small balcony.

The travellers who've reviewed this building obviously had the pick of the rooms. Ours on the first floor was cramped, dark and (without the double-glazing) noisy. It added up to a pretty claustrophobic experience with air-conditioning and artificial lighting on all the time. The rooms are clean and well-equipped but I really wouldn't recommend this place - unless obviously you get the room at the top! Breakfast served in a nearby cafe sounds good in principle but it was a pretty mediocre buffet with poor coffee provided by a staff who couldn't have cared less.

Room Tip: The room at the top or nothing!

I've just got back from a week in Kotor. The holiday was lovely, and our accomidation was no exception! The wines rooms were really great, the decor realy kept with the feel of the Old Town, and overall was really stunning. I had the top floor duplex, and the walk up the three flights of stairs with my luggage was worth it, I really was not expecting the rooms to be so nice! There were two bedrooms, with two beds in each (you can push them together to make a double) and the sofa downstairs turns into a bed and could sleep another two, there was also air conditioning in all rooms, three bathrooms, a small kitchen to cook, a large tv (although only TWO english channels out of the countless random foreign channels, both being world news) and a computer. The beds and bedding is also worth a mention, as it was really top quality, and so comfortable, something I think a lot of places lack!! The receptionist Ivana is really lovely, very happy and was always very helpful!

The location is great as well, just within the walls of the Old Town. Any location within the Old Town is great, as it is quite a small town, but it has to be noted that no vehicles are allowed within the old town walls, so you do have to walk to your hotel with your luggage, and the Wine Rooms are very near to the North Gate, so that is a bonus. The location for breakfast is just around the corner, and is a really nice place to eat, my favourite in Kotor. Also, there is a supermarket just by this, so this too is not very far.

I would definately recommend the Wine Rooms, and will hopefully be visiting again in the future!

Room Tip: If you want a bit of space, the top floor duplex is massive, spanning over two floors. Although, if...
