We booked a day tour into Montenegro from Dubrovnik, with Cheap Dubrovnik Tours. Our driver/ guide - Andro - was very knowledgeable and very charming. The main part of the tour was obviously the Bay of Kotor and its various sites. It is certainly worth a visit if you are in the area. But it is a long day tour - about 9 hours - it you start and end in Dubrovnik. Kotor is also an interesting medieval town and a place worth exploring.

Arriving by cruise ship at 6am into this beautiful bay was a highlight of our cruise. The sun was sparkling on the water and the back drop of the high mountains made for a most picturesque and enjoyable morning. Then when almost there we passed two small interesting islands with church properties built on them. We actually returned to Perast and took the boat to the Lady of Our Rocks church and afterwards spent about two hours in the village and having a coffee by the waters edge. A most memorable part if our cruise.

The Bay of Kotor (Boka Kotorska) is one of the most beautiful places in the Mediterranean. A submerged river canyon, the mountains around it drop straight into the sea, while the shoreline is dotted with beautiful stone medieval towns. While it is beautiful to look at and Kotor has a lively nightlife, look to do your swimming on the outside of the bay, towards the Adriatic.

Beautiful medieval town surrounded by mountains and water. We climbed up the mountains for the view. The way up was challenging but we liked it. The view was breath-taking. I would give it 4 and 1/2 star if possible. (There is a charge to go up the mountain.)

We visited Kotor as part of a cruise aboard Royal Clipper, the largest tall ship in the world.

Following a two hour journey from the sea through interconnected lakes and small channels we reached Kotar - a truly enchanting experience. You would never know it existed if you hadn't been taken there,

Despite it's remoteness the village of Kotor welcomes visitors and is remarkably well equipped with shops, bars and restaurants despite the ancient "wall of China" that surrounds it. Strongly recommended for a visit.
