I stayed here for two and a half weeks in May 2012 and felt it was good value and friendly. Management were very amenable in terms of late check-outs etc...

Although it is in the old part of town, the street has little traffic and it is only five or ten minutes walk to the centre. The first night or two you might be woken by the call to prayer, as there are several mosques nearby, but you very quickly adjust and sleep through.

The rooms vary quite a lot so check a few out. Some have good views, others back onto the next building (also a hotel). As noted by other reviews the lift is slow, but the exercise doesn't do any harm. Breakfast doesn't compete with the Hotel Pristina, but then nor does the price.
A case of horses for courses!

Hotel is a little bit hidden a 5 min-walk from the museum, en suite rooms start around 25 € with TV and AC, are clean and everything is working. Breakfast is basic (but even at this price included) and there is a free internet desk. No restaurant or bar but plenty of shops nearby. A taxi to the bus station will set you back around 3 €. There is not that much to see in Prishtina so either make some excursions to the countryside or limit your stay there.

We booked a double room and got a room that sleeps five, so we had plenty of space to spread out. The room was very comfortable and had a sofa, coffee table, and even a bathtub - a rare treat on the road. The only downside to the room was that the coffee table was clear glass, so we had to be extremely careful walking around it, especially at night.

The staff were friendly, helpful and spoke good English. They helped us arrange taxis, and had dinner delivered to our room from the hole-in-the-wall grill across the street. They also smoked in the breakfast room while we ate, which was a bit less charming.

We stayed at this hotel rather than the one next door because other reviewers said this one had a better breakfast. If that's the case, I'd hate to see the other hotel's breakfast! This one had boiled eggs, some kind of processed meat that resembled a hot dog, but smelled much worse, stale bread, jam, butter, milk and an unnaturally orange sugary drink called Tango. There was no black tea the first morning, so we bought a box for the second morning and made it ourselves.

The other odd thing about this hotel was all the funky little steps. Coming down from the extremely slow lift, there are three-and-a-half steps leading to the lobby. There was a half step into our room, and another half-step at the top of the stairs from our floor (going down). We both felt that this was a serious safety issue, but then again, do they really worry about safety in Kosovo?

I have stayed in the Hotel Sara several times whilst visiting family in Pristina.

It is a very comfortable hotel and is located very central to the city centre.

The staff are always extremely friendly and all of the receptionists and some housekeeping staff have spoken good English.

The rooms are decorated in nice, bright colours and the beds are comfortable for a good nights sleep. There are no hospitality trays though and I missed my good old English cup of tea in the morning to wake me up, but perhaps this isn't the norm in this part of the world?!?! For the first few trips, the lovely receptionist did bring up a macchiato (a latte-style coffee) each morning which was great, but I think this stopped by visit 3!

The one downside is there was no lift the last time I stayed which was a killer if you're up on the top floor, but there was building works going on, so maybe there is one now. I do hope so!

There are TV's and a fridge in the rooms. The TV has cable, and a few channels were broadcast in English and German.

The area is nice and seems safe enough. I certainly felt safe enough walking around alone in the local area. If you have a room on the top of the hotel, the view over the city is really pretty.

There are many shops around the hotel and last time I stayed there was a little mini-market across the road from the shop which was very handy. Also on the street was a little burger hut, which had the most delicious burgers I have ever tasted in my life!
Also check out the Bosna restaurant which is around the corner from the hotel. This does hamburgers and burek at great prices and you get lots for your money! There was also an internet cafe in the area (2 mins walk from hotel) last time I stayed.

There is a theatre in the city as well as a cinema, and streets upon streets of nice little cafes and bars to take in city life and watch all the locals go about their daily life. Many people speak English. Even the ABC cinema shows movies in English which is a lovely evening out.

The whole atmosphere around the area is brilliant. You can hear music playing from the little market stalls near the hotel, and the calls to prayer from the mosque are just amazing.

The Hotel Sara is just a short drive away from Germia, which is a beautiful forest area with an outdoor public swimming pool and a few wooden chalet cafe bars which both have outdoor seating areas and are open late until after dark. The view and atmosphere in the evening at each one of these cafebars is just fantastic. A real must for anyone visiting the area.

Another favourite which is close to the hotel is Restaurant XIX, a wooden style chalet which has a great selection of liquors and serves food also if my memory serves me right.

For somewhere different and off the beaten path to travel there is nowhere quite better than Kosove and the Hotel Sara as a homely, comfortable base to do all your exploring from.
