Beautiful rebuilt bridge with a tragic history. Worth a visit. Most beautiful during sunrise or sunset.

made a stop along a Balkan road trip here and well worth it. bridge is set among greenish blue waters and a lovely city and makes for great photos. We missed any jumpers to our dismay but there are plenty of vantage points to see it around mostar.

We visited Mostar for one night, mainly to see the Bridge and it did not disappoint!
If you are interested in getting any good photographs or just want to experience the Bridge and indeed the town without the crowds - it does get very busy during the day - I would suggest staying overnight and getting up early for the best views and photographs! Also pretty stunning and much quieter in the evening!

We travelled on a coach from Dubrovnik which was quite a long way but worth the effort. To photograph the bridge you need to be standing on a bridge further down the river. The Mostar Bridge itself is very crowded and the cobbles shiny and a bit slippy with wear, so wear shoes that grip. The shops and restaurants around the bridge area are very busy but there’s lots of atmosphere and the prices are very cheap.

The Old Bridge is an interesting sight to see. It is very impressive with it's high arch over the river. Crossing the bridge can seem intimidating to those who aren't comfortable with heights or have trouble walking.

It is really photo worthy. But also really touristy. Take a photo from afar especially during sunset. It's just mesmerising.

The old bridge is the reason why tourists and tour groups actually come to Mostar.
The current bridge was built in 2003 using materials and techniques used for the old bridge that was famously destroyed during the civil war in 1993. To me, the bridge appeared a bit smaller than I imagined before, but then again, it’s a very historic place. There are crowds around lunch time, so if flexible, tourists may consider visiting this site in the morning or later in the afternoon.

One of the best places to visit.
When we reached the bridge, there was cliff diving going on. There was a guy who was standing at the edge of the bridge planning to dive and the coach kept was prompting him. But he lost the nerve and backed out. Entire area was crowded with people to see him dive. They were disappointed.
later in the day, we went to the other side of the bridge. The place was full of youngsters. The place was being set up for an event. The place looked extremely picturesque during twilight and sunset.

This is the symbol of the city and it's historical background is an interesting one. An important information: there is no entrance fee, you're allowed to walk as much as you want. Make sure that you also take a right hand turn just before entering the bridge. By descending towards river, you reach a spot from which you have an excellent view of the bridge in the background. You can see clearly the act of jumping from down there. Be careful while walking on the bridge, it can be slippery.
