It was a real pleasure to stay in this fabulous hostel. Staff were super-friendly and no request was too much trouble. They've got a great location in a shady side-street. The house is full of character and has a garden. Good breakfasts, too!

It's just what you're looking for when you travel around. The place is good, and the beds are ok. It's quite well located, close to the city centre. But the best thing was the staff. He was really nice and helpful, and very attentive preparing us the dinner and the breakfast.

We also stayed at the Hostel Mostel in Sofia and Veliko Tarnovo, and this one was a bit disappointing compared to the others.

Positives:
- In a decent location, around 5 mins walk to the main pedestrian area with bars, restaurants etc. Around 20/25 minutes walk from the bus station.
- Clean room and bathroom. Room was also a good size - there were 3 single beds for 2 people.
- Table and chairs in the outdoor area to use, although the garden isn't very nice and there were quite a few bugs.

Negatives:
- We had dinner on the first night because we had been on a bus all day and were tired but didn't bother on the other nights. Dinner was lentil soup, which seemed to sit in the fridge all week and was brought out every night. Breakfast was OK - bread, feta cheese etc.
- We had a double room which was right off the communal area so were woken up at 8am every morning when the staff set up breakfast. The ceiling above our room was also very creaky, and we could hear every footstep of the people in the room above.
- There was one PC with free internet, but the connection was so slow I had to give up (I did only try once, so this may have been a one off).

In conclusion - a decent option, but there may be better options available in Plovdiv..

As budgeteurotrip.com I spent 2 nights at Mostel hostel in Plovdiv, finding it a good hostel. Friendly and helpful Staff. Location is very good and the structure is a tipical balcanic house. Breakfast and dinner are included in the price. The hostel is at walking distance from autobus and railway station

Because of our positive experiences with the Hostel Mostels in Sofia (twice) and Veliko Turnovo (once), we didn't bother to shop around for a place to stay in Plovdiv. We stayed 2 nights here, with Tania and Angel as our hosts, and were quite comfortable.

We've been told HM Plovdiv is under different ownership to the others, but the standard is similar. The hostel is about a 20 minute walk from the train station (with luggage), or a 5 leva taxi ride. It is very well situated, close to old & new Plovdiv, with several cafes & shops nearby. There is a larger supermarket not far away.

Our room was in the basement, and not too small. It tended to get a bit chilly at night (spring has been slow to arrive), but an electric space heater was provided. Check that you get one if it's still chilly at night; not all rooms have them. The shared bathroom downstairs was fine, although it would be nice if there was a bathmat or a squeegee provided, as the shower water ends up getting all over the floor.

There is a small common room in the basement, and an area in the back garden where people can socialise. Breakfast was ample and a simple dinner (pasta, couscous or lentil soup during our stay) with beer was also part of the deal. Wifi was fine, and there was a computer for guests to use.

HM Plovdiv is currently looking for another staff member for their night shift. At present Tania and Angel are run a little bit ragged, as there is a bit too much work for just one person alone at a time. All the same, they were friendly and helpful.

All in all a good stay, and a decent choice for your hard-earned travel leva.

As with my first impression-----you might not initially be impressed with it's tucked away (nondescript/generic) neighborhood location----but when you get out & explore the full breadth of the city, you'll realize the surprising convenience of this hostel's location---only about a 3 minute walk from the central square----which just happens to be about midway between the train/primary bus stations and the Old Town highlights------not to mention being close to just about everything else of interest.
Oh yeah---two large supermarkets (+ open air markets) are within several blocks of the Mostel (IN the "nondescript neighborhood").
For the few of you who don't carry "communicators"-----the Grand Supermarket's call center offers SUPER CHEAP long distance calls.
Back to the Mostel;
Other pros;
- excellent value considering the included breakfast & (spartan) dinner--w/beer.
- another strong point it shares with the other Mostels (in Sofia & Veliko Tarnovo) is the hospitality, knowledge & helpfulness of it's staff.
Only con;
- probably would be the space limitations (+ constricted areas) imposed by the relatively small house which it occupies.

I also returned for stays at the other two Mostels during my most recent journey----and I'm glad to report that their sterling standards (in facilities, service & atmosphere) have been maintained--even improved with some things! Unquestionably----some of the best hostels anywhere (I've been...)!

Nice clean hostel. The staff are awesome. Angel, one of the staff members, cooked us some really tasty lentil soup and he is very helpful.

The location is excellent - very close to the town centre and old town.

The hostel itself is very cosy and it was really nice to have some downtime there. My only complaint would be that the shower in the downstairs bathroom is pretty much useless. The shower head doesn't mount on the wall, so you need to hold on to it, and the shower is surrounded by a flimsy curtain, so the bathroom floor gets flooded.

Room Tip: The private room was spacious.
