Reminiscent of the theater of Epidaurus in miniature. It is in the city center and you can easily reach the shops round there.

Plovdiv has all the charm of a city steeped in history. Compared to Sofia which is modern and chaotic. Plovdiv is one of those ancient cities where you can peal back the layers of time and find flavours of the East and West.

The city is relatively small and people are more laid back and friendly. It is a very pleasant place to visit whether you like culture, going out or just sitting back people- watching.

Plovdiv is also fast developing as a centre for medical tourism. You can get your eyes or teeth done at a fraction of the cost of most European cties.

Had a horrible experience in Sofia- got ripped off by a cab driver. Had a wonderful time in Plovdiv to make up for it. A must go.

Walking along the cobblestone streets of the Old Plovdiv, one can see a story remained the most ancient civilizations in Europe until today. Excavations from 8000 years ago, Thracian artifacts, Greek amphitheater, Roman reservoir, houses an ethnographic architecture descending to the largest Roman stadium in Thrace. The many cozy cafes, pubs and restaurants friendly welcome residents and visitors. In souvenir and antique shops everyone can find the necessary gift for their loved ones.
