We appreciated the helpfulness of our host. Great breakfast buffet with eggs to order. We taught the cooks to make French toast, so it's on the menu now. Our room was large with very comfortable king size bed and sofa bed. Outside the Old City walls, but still in walking distance to everything.

We booked this hotel through Expedia and for our double room we got 2 twin beds with average mattresses so I had some trouble sleeping. The rest of the furniture was really nice and you could tell the hotel has been updated recently. The breakfast had a lot of food, but unfortunately the juices and the coffee were very diluted. The walk to the town center is not too bad and you can see some of the buildings from the hotel so it is relatively easy to find your way there.

Hotel is a basic hotel but didn’t blow us away. The room was fine – clean, spacious and well-lit, with plenty of storage space (desk, shelves and closet). Bed was comfortable and we had a nice view of the old city. Free wireless worked well. Location is ok, but I would have preferred to be closer to the old city. Likely a 15-20 minute walk, but we instead drove and parked in the parking lot near the Hotel Continental. At night we were able to find free parking; during the day we parked in the pay-lot, which was cheap – just 1 lei for 2 hours.

Criticisms: Lights in hallway were turned off, so it was quite dark when getting off the elevator (we didn’t see a switch or sensor). The front desk didn’t have a local map available. Towels were extremely coarse – they clearly hadn’t been dried in a dryer. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Bread had been sliced too early and was dry. Fresh scrambled eggs or omelets were offered one morning, though they were too greasy. There was no good juice – the juice offered was sweet and watered down (fruit “drink” vs. real fruit juice).

Owner and his wife might be friendly but the staff they hired when they are gone were not. Not helpful at all. No maps available. No directions on how to walk to old town.

The hotel room was fine, adequate. The whole place smelled like cigarettes though not as bad in the room. Because you are in a neighborhood, you hear dogs barking constantly.
